Everything in the universe to the tinyest cells and atoms are alive, everything that is alive is intelligent and conscious. Therefore the universe is intelligent and conscious, that is what "god" is, diversity through unity
Only if you live in a big bubble of ignorance. But please point to this mounting evidence -- does it come from a religious source? I'm guessing it does.
@pppaaaooo13 Not at all. Learn science, then talk. Don't just regurgitate Ray Comfort and Lee Strobel talking points. They're wrong about everything they say about the subject. Very, very wrong.
@pppaaaooo13 And there is no evidence against the Harry Potter style witchcraft like in the Bible and the six day creation. "Pow"! there's a cow and "Pow"! there's a horse!
Darwin IS dead and he was also a failure in propagating his own family by marrying his 1st cousin. His children died because of genetics. His writings are evil racist mythology. Eugenics is based off of his studies and is wrong. He was a deceived individual. Several of his "theories" Have been proven wrong. Now speaking of the Bible it's history is embedded and has been found true by several archeologists. Also, prophecies for told in the Bible have come true. Google it to prove it.
"he was also a failure in propagating his own family"
Actually, there are plenty of Darwin's descendants running around. Author Matthew Chapman covered the Dover Trial and is Darwin's great-great grandson.
"Eugenics is based"
Darwin wrote against the evils of eugenics, because it isn't Natural Selection, and has more in common with cattle farming.
"Bible it's history is embedded and has been found true by several archeologists"
@dudev According to Scientific American-Charles Darwin's family tree tangled with inbreeding, early death-Katherine HarmonM5.3.10-Darwin's kidsOne died at 23 days old, and another, who was not developing normally, died at 18 months. The third likely died of tuberculosis, for which inbreeding increases the contraction risk.
So what's your point? Darwin married his cousin. The 19th century was a time of primitive medicine. Most couples had many children. And a portion of those children died. There's nothing unusual there.
@dudev The journal BioScience, shows that some of Darwin's concerns about his offspring's health might have been valid. Darwin's son Leonard was a Eugenisist. Darwin still believed that God was the ultimate lawgiver. Darwin noted that aiding the weak to survive and have families could lose the benefits of natural selection, but cautioned that withholding such aid would endanger the instinct of sympathy. Because of Darwinism eugenics was and has been implemented in both America and Nazi Germany.
Your ignorance is not surprising. You haven't read Darwin's books. Darwin specifically wrote against artificial selection (eugenics). Natural selection is just that -- NATURAL. Eugenics is the opposite of natural. Farming and animal breeding have more in common with eugenics. The German ideal of Aryan racial purity goes back centuries before Darwin was even born.
@dudev Why do you LOL at Biblical archeology? Are you saying that is not a fact? Have you looked into it? You don't want it to be true and you find comfort in laughing at it but have you ever wondered why? Why do you care and comment? I know you don't care about my "soul". Why would you care about my supposed ignorance? Here's a easy one, Israel! Look into the prophecies in the Bible and compare. Google biblical archaeology if you really want to educate yourself before LOLing it. :0)
Gee, because I don't want to live in a society of idiots. Maybe it's just me, but I like to think that my fellow voters care about the truth. A scientifically ignorant populace is easily manipulated by politicians.
And yes, I've heard all the stories of so-called Biblical archaeology. How many times have they found Noah's Ark? There's no evidence for creation, no matter how you slice it.
@cottoncandicane None of the stories in the New Testament have been proven at all. If you have evidence, you are special, because no other person on the planet has such evidence. You will never have to work a day of your life. Darwin simply observed and wrote about his observations, and thoughts on what he saw. many thousands of hours of research have in fact supported his initial brilliant thoughts. You may not like him, having never knew him, but he was right, and evidence supports that.
@cottoncandicane Yep Darwin is dead all right, and you may not have liked the way he lived. But he was still right. His brilliant theory has been studied, and questioned over and over, and the facts support it period. There is only ONE prophecy in the bible, and that is the return of the mythical jesus bringing the end of the world. Since you say the bible's prophecies have been proven true, I ask which ones? If all there is is the end of the world then nothing has come true. We are here.
I hope you Atheists have not accepted everything you hear as fact : \ You do know that many sketches made on evolution are fabricated right ? Always a bit nicer when they fill the gaps with unknown and falsified "human" skeletal remains!
"sketches made on evolution are fabricated right "
Perhaps you mean Ernst Haeckels 19th century drawings of mammal embryos. Yes, he exaggerated aspects in an attempt to prove his point. However, it in no way invalidates evolution, only one of the ways evolution was thought to work. You didn't name which sketches, so I'm guessing you're talking from a point of ignorance. FYI --science discovered the fraud and corrected it. Only more science can correct science.
" unknown and falsified "human" skeletal remains!"
Creationists always ignore the vast amounts of genetic evidence, which proves evolution even if no fossils existed. Can you explain how creation worked, in detail? "God did it " isn't an explanation. How did he do it? Magic?
@dudev God also invented Science, so.... I don't know to what degree you are taking my comment. I am just stating. I disagree with the human "evolution."
I pick and chose, so go prove me wrong on specifics.
I doubt you understand it well enough to disagree with it. You're probably just objecting to some caricature of evolution you saw in a creationist video.
But please explain how creation worked. Was it magic?
@LampPlaceThing By "many", I hope you know you mean "almost none", because that's the actual reality you think you know something about, and think we don't.
10 ^ 120 power is the cosmological constant (anti-gravitational force) in the cosmos that if it were different by just 1 number, in the evolution of the cosmos, life wouldn't be possible. Check out "the cosmological constant" video on YouTube. It has convinced even hard science physicists there is some kind of Creator.
"that if it were different by just 1 number, in the evolution of the cosmos, life wouldn't be possible"
Again, you don't know how many different ways life can exist. And the cosmological constant was a variable proposed and abandoned by Einstein for a static universe. The universe isn't static. Some physicists propose a cosmological constant for our expanding universe, but it remains an undecided issue. And why does a constant equal a creator? My shoe size is constant.
And FYI --The physicist in that "cosmological constant" video is Leonard Susskind, a prominent atheist. So I think you're twisting his intended meaning.
So, then why do end of the video does the narrator say "hidden in our laws of nature is a value so precise it was impossible to deny that our universe was designed" Sounds like video is strongly arguing for a Creator. Maybe Susskind has changed his mind. Anthony Flew (most prominent atheist before his death) changed his mind to a belief in a Creator before he died.
The cosmological constant was only thought of as being constant when physicists believed the universe was static. The universe isn't static. The so-called constant was basically an added variable to explain observational physics. Anyway, they've replaced the constant with the concept of dark energy to sovle the same problem. So the creator argument fails -- It's like saying "there's X amount of cholocale sause in the world, so there must be a creator." Why is X significant?
I don't think Sussking changed his mind. I think the makers of the documentary or the poster of the video twisted the true meaning of Susskind's words. Physicists often use poetic explanations, which, to the untrained ear, sound like they're advocating a creator, when they're really not. Einstein called the laws of the universe god, but only as a metaphor. An undefined creator has no scientific value. it doesn't explain anything.
@tbearworld The dumb "fine tuning" argument fails simply because it's just the way the universe is, and still implies no creator. It's a really dumb, unimaginative argument from ignorance. You can't just say, "life is this way, so God must have made it this way". That's the entirety of the fine tuning argument. It's idiotic.
If Charles Darwin is right...,then life doesn't have any ultimate purpose (except maybe to survive for a brief time). Why have a war between science and religion, since religion gives mankind a higher purpose. I believe there is much more evidence for a higher order (god) than just biology. There is the amazing fine tuning of the cosmos and without this razors edge tuning, the evolution of life wouldn't be possible. Would any scientist suggest that 10 to the 120 power is not design?
Darwin showed how new species come about, which has nothing to do with the cosmos or if there's a purpose to life.
"the evolution of life wouldn't be possible."
And you don't know how many different ways there are for life to exist. So you can't say whether or not life would be possible under different conditions. You're throwing around baseless arguments.
@tbearworld You "believe" there is evidence for a higher order against all reality. That is true faith right there. Believing there is something when there is nothing. No evidence. Nothing. Many, many scientists suggest that the cosmological constant is no evidence of design. You're inferring design because you want there to be design. You're PUTTING the idea of design there. Your brain is doing it because you want that constant to have a designer.
"It never struck me how illogical it was to say that I believed in what I could not understand and what is in fact unintelligible."
"I was a young man with unformed ideas, I threw out queries, suggestions, wondering all the time over everything: and to my astonishment the ideas took like wild fire. People made a religion out of them."
I don't know why facts and science are so scary to bible thumpers. We evolve, things change, big deal. Life goes on. Who cares. The earth circles the sun, tell me something I don't know. If you don't like science and the scientific method, facts, figures, etc don't bother going to school. Happy birthday to THE most influential and important historical figure ever.
It astounds me how creationists dare to demand scientific answers from me --to put me on the spot-- when centuries of research is readily available to anyone with a library card. All of geology, paleontology, biochemistry, genetics, biogeography, etc. supports evolution. "Biology only makes sense in the light of evolution." Yet an ignorant person like yourself stands up and claims the answer is creation. The real question is -- how did creation work? Magic? Which is more probable?
@dudev Thanks for the insult, but I did not expect anything less from a nu-science. You could have just said "I don't know". There is no disgrace is not knowing something to the point where you have to declare it "magic". Perhaps quantum physics (which we do not fully understand) is "magic" as well? Your lack of logic is laughable.
What a fucking hypocrite you are. Never once I have heard a religious fuck claim they don't know something. Religion is about claiming absolutes. I've read hundreds of scientific papers in which the author claimed not to know something. That's why scientists do research, dumbass, and religious fools do nothing. You lazy idiots don't even bother looking for answers --you just declare your baseless knowledge to be doctrine.
@dudev More abuse from a self proclaimed fuckwit. Continue not knowing everything if you like. Just keep your fucking slimy bullshit away from philosophies you know nothing about. You are just a white coated ingrate.
One of the stupidest comments, ever. It's safe to say everyone on earth is in this boat, Einstein. It's just the religious freaks who pretend to know everything, for the sake of controlling small minded fools like you. (Does religion comfort you with its cheap emotional appeals?) And in a free society all philosophies are open to criticism. Don't like it? Tough. And this is my channel. You've had your pathetic say, so piss off.
You've got balls telling me to fuck off on my own video. It takes balls and arrogance to claim absolute knowledge when all you've got is faith and salesmanship. Lately, I've been reading the intelligent-design arguments from the 19th century --they're the same as today. They haven't progressed one damn bit. You're an out of touch fool. Go NOT think somewhere else, you mindless slave.
@dudev Everything you assumed and wrote about me is incorrect. You are small minded and posses blinkered vision. You will no doubt block me now for that is all part of the atheist mentality, abuse and ignorance.
The atheism mentality is "show us evidence." The religious mentality is "we believe, we don't need any evidence, especially if it contradicts what we believe."
@hdregmore Where did he proclaim himself a fuckwit? And I"m sure he gladly would insist he doesn't know everything. Do you think you do? Seriously? Hahahahahaha
@hdregmore So you're inferring that he said something he didn't say based on your subjective opinion of things he did say? The Creationist mentality is way beyond our own, clearly. Seriously, you lost this argument badly. Shameful.
@hdregmore You dummy. Life wasn't created through evolution. And there isn't enough evidence to know for sure how life began. There just isn't. You're suggesting then that it's somehow a good thing that since we haven't figured it out yet that we MAKE IT UP BASED ON A BOOK WRITTEN BY ILLITERATE CAMEL MERCHANTS. You're also taking a ridiculous attitude toward your insane idea, attempting to belittle the intellect of others that don't see your crazy shit as valid.
as of now mutation is proven, evolution might be right but it also might be wrong, as long as there is present physical proof, evolution is still a theory.... Why bother reading a book, when the book itself can lie to you
A theory is the highest status in science. It means an explanation for a set of observations; it's not guesswork. And there are no "might be's" about it. Evolution is the only explanation with evidence to support it. It's the only explanation that fits.
And if you think all books are filled with lies then you're a fool. I feel sorry for your small mind.
I said it "CAN" lienot they all lie.... Science change our life but you can't assume science is always correct... A theroy is a theory because not all are convinced in evolution. Try to convince me if you want, Im an open minded person, and I am not small minded BTW. I shall respect your answer as long as you respect mine...
In science, a theory is an explanation for a set of observations. While a law is an observation without an explanation. We can observe laws of gravity, but it doesn't provide a theory as to why gravity exists. There is no higher level than theory. And how can I respect your answer when it's clear you don't know what you're talking about. Sorry. And obviously, science isn't always correct. But you can't be right unless you risk being wrong. Science takes the risk. Religion doesn't.
@dudev "But you can't be right unless you risk being wrong" yes I agree with you with this, that is why I am not into evolution because there is still a chance that it is wrong, for me anyways. "While a law is an observation without an explanation" A law can come from a theory if its proven and applicable all the time... "it's clear you don't know what you're talking about." I am not a scientist.. Im a business major that is why I don't know all things about science...
@Aluxiel If you don't believe evolution, what do you believe? It is kind of weird to say you don't believe it because there is a chance that it is wrong. if that is the reason to not believe something, you can only believe maths, because that is the only science that is 100% provable. I believe in evolution because at this moment, all the evidence points to it.
Creationism isn't dead. I do respect an intelligent man like Charles Darwin. Darwin Day this year we had a lecture at my local Natural Science museum. It was quite interesting and the musuem was packed for a change.
It's dead in the sense that it has no scientific basis, and it's never going to lead to a better understanding of the natural world --or the supernatural one. It's worthless pseudo-scientific crap.

Currently, I'll admit I don't know of any scientific basis for Creationism. But that can always change. Evolution may one day be debunked and Creationism vidicated.
It is indeed possible that one day it turns out the creation myth of Genesis was in fact right and evolution turns out to be wrong. But it's just as likely, if not even more, that one day it turns out the world was created by the Flying Spaghetti Monster and the bible was manipulated to fool us (as the fossil record would have to be too for evolution to be wrong).
"It is indeed possible that one day it turns out the creation myth of Genesis was in fact right and evolution turns out to be wrong."
It could be. But at the same time I know I could be wrong. If I believed I was 100% correct I wouldn't still study the issue. I prefer Creationism but I could be wrong .
@AngelicSnowGirl Creationism would have to come up with one single, testable, verifiable bit of evidence in order to even get on the right track to vindication. It's been trying the same shitty arguments for hundreds of years, though, and somehow seems to still think it's still a good argument.
Is ignorance bliss? Complexity is not indicative of intelligent design --but efficiency is. And biological systems are far from efficient. In fact, the animal cell itself is of poor natural design --of inferior workmanship.
And some amoeba, lizards, lungfish, plants, etc. have far greater genome sizes than do humans --making them more complex. It all only makes sense in the light of evolution. Unless you can explain who the intelligent designer is, of course. I don't expect an answer.

atheist will remain no better than the piss i take they cry and always and want proof like a child , if its so important to you, you find the fucken proof
He who makes the claim must provide the proof, numbnuts. If your doctor said you had 6 months to live wouldn't you want a second opinion --in other words, proof? If you buy a used car, don't you want proof that it runs? Is wanting proof childish? Or is believing without it childish?
And, if I remember my Bible correctly, it instructs believers to seek lost sheep - "there is more joy in Heaven" & all that.
Doesn't Jesus also say something about accepting it all like a child (implying children aren't particular about evidence)?
Christianity must be in a poor way post Darwin if even its own believers have to be taught by Atheists! Which reminds me, doesn't Jesus say something about cuss words too?
But please enlighten us all with a detailed explanation of creation. How did it work exactly? A snap of the fingers and magic, the universe existed? Now, that sounds cartoonish.
Creationism Dead! Hmm sure... nothing could be further from the truth. People are starting to see scripture and those old antiquated predictions coming true as clear as crystal. It's just that society has encouraged people to cram their heads way up the Devils ass and living right seems like a lost cause. The good news is that no matter how shitty you have lived your life Gods love will hose you off. Are you a product of an explosion, or does the design we see all around us come with a designer?
Your ignorance isn't surprising. Creationists wallow in their stupidity like happy pigs. And only someone who knows nothing about astronomy, which has nothing to do with evolution, would refer to the Big Bang as an explosion.
Is that the best you can offer? --"Things look designed, so they must be so." That's pathetic.
Creationism was dead before it got off the ground, but like a plane that will not fly, and people who don't know the difference, they pick up that wreck and carry it around making propeller noises trying to convince people that they are actually flying, when any educated person can see they are walking with a huge burden making motorboat noises with their mouths. They seem happy, but deep down they just want to believe the are flying like science's jumbo jet. Noisy idiots don't deserve respect
@InteGrayting LOL! Propagandized people as yourself you mean? Not educated, there is a difference. A wise person is one that can look and see around the a original order that is now falling apart. The reason that original order is now falling apart is so us humans can see that there is no way to save ourselves and that is why we need God. Atheistic or evolutionists will not be able to save the world no matter what they do or how much money they spend. Bio-weapons, meteors, earthquakes etc....
@cottoncandicane I would strongly suggest buying property near a underground aquifer, and learn how to be as self sufficient as possible. 20 years or so from now, our world will barely resemble itself from what we know today. Drought, famine, disease, and war for water and land will touch almost every life on this planet. No god is here now to stop it, and no god will be there after it happens. When will people see this? Not until it's too late I'm sure. Not propoganda, just our future.
@cottoncandicane The difference between propoganda, and learned fact is this: Propoganda has only to be said and believed by those who are willing to just believe what they are told. Learned fact is simply fact. Fact does not require agreement, nor does it require comprehension. You are basing life on the question "why?" Where I base life on the question "how?" I find "how" brings study, and knowledge, and "why" just leads to pondering and beliefs without fact or understanding.
so if i was near you would you allow me to rip your throaght out or how about your mothers would that upset you or would you tell me to fuck off due to a ''human emotion''?

you know dudev i like how you deny the lord of this world, keep up the good job and leed them down to the road of confusion these christ belivers would look very nice with there hearts pulled out in the domain of horror ; D
First prove the god in your argument before your start telling me what he plans to do. You're basically using a lot of words to say nothing of substance. I can claim that my "alien overlords" will come to earth to eat all the people of faith. Prove me wrong.
Darwin, My Life and Letters Vol. 1, page 210, letter to Mr bentham admits, When we decend into details we can prove that no one species has changed ( i.e. We cannot prove that a single species has changed); nor can we prove that the supposed changes are beneficial, which is the ground work of the theory. Nor can we explain why some species have changed and others have not.
The complete works of Charles Darwin are online. No such quote exists. It's one of those made-up, mind viruses, creationist like to pull out of thin air. I suggest you be less gullible in the future, and not believe everything you hear or read. Creationism keeps people ignorant.
I would also suggest you study modern biology. Science has progressed much since the 1800's.
charles darwin i love this man , since his pathetic daughter died and rotted away like filth he lost faith tisk tisk vety human indeed , there will be a time when chaos i love so dear will run ramped in the world until then vessels rejoice in your false findings , i cheer for darwin..
What does evolutionary THEORY have to do with religion, unless it hopes to be one? Darwin's supposition of perpetual change with regards to Earth's flora & fauna, through billions (if not trillions) of beneficial mutations over countless eons, must stand on its merits. Whether Granny says the rosary ten times a day has nothing to do with the a philosophy that places caudated Man in trees.
"through billions (if not trillions) of beneficial mutations over countless eons"
No. Most mutations are actually neutral. And the context of the creature to its environment most often determines if the mutation will be beneficial. Today's harmful mutation can be tomorrows beneficial one.
A better question would be, Why the fuck does religion have to stick its nose in science all the time? Oh, yeah, because its members are a bunch of controlling anti-intellectual freaks.
Perhaps not having graduated high school has made you a paranoid conspiracy-minded anti-intellectual tard, with delusions of grandeur. You're not qualified to judge real science, so you listen to bible TV shows or FOX News for all your science news. Picking up a book is to much work for you.
"Whether life was invented by an omnipotent force or by magical gases mixing, it's not worthy of the millions of tax dollars used to prop up human evolutionary theory."
The best work in evolutionary biology is done at private universities like Harvard or at labs like the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Grant money is often from private sources. too. At public schools funds come from student tuition. Museums charge admission.
Perhaps you're ignorant of the fact that most words have multiple definitions. THEORY in the context of science means an explanation for a set of facts, observations, and phenomena. It's the opposite of supposition. Unless you want to believe that CELL THEORY or ATOMIC THEORY are based on guesswork. Religious people--stupid and proud of it.
Merriam Webster: 5;THEORY: "a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena (the wave theory of light)"
I didn't say it was a synonym of fact. I said theory is an explanation for a set of facts.
WEBSTER: 1. A well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena; "theories can incorporate facts and laws and tested hypotheses";
"Science fiction has always relied heavily on what is provable."
How are you ---or a few creationist frauds--qualified to judge evolution? If you honestly think creationism is a better explanation, please provide the details of the creation. When did it happen? Where? How? Simply pointing to the bible and saying "god did it" isn't an explanation of anything.
Please feel free to give me a definition of evolution right now, without googling an answer. What do you think evolution says? How can you criticize something you don't even understand?
Even if such a ridiculous story were true, it wouldn't make a bit of difference, since the mountains of evidence, which you clearly know nothing about, speak to evolution being one of the strongest facts in science.
Very nice dudev! I am happy to see you honour your ancestors, the apes. You are evidently a fanatical follower of Mr Darwin. ¿Doesn`t such fanatism impare your objectivity? Just asking in case you consider yourself a free thinker. Please tell me. ¿ Can science explain the origins of the Universe? I supose the answer is NO. We Theists are anxiously expecting the TOE Until then science is just a useful discipline to enhance life or destroy it depending on the ape in charge
I was just commenting on your enthusiasm for Mr. Darwin. Don`t be so upset. I understand that you may find the "God did it" as if you have nothing to grab on to. Understandable. As for the end of the world it will happen when the sun cools down but don`t worry you will be long gone by then.
You use a lot of words without saying much. So far, you've criticized science and mocked your own ape ancestry.Try saying something in support of creation; if you can.
"As for the end of the world it will happen when the sun cools down but don`t worry you will be long gone by then.
LOL "
How is this funny from your perspective? Stating the obvious generally isn't humorous. It's actually the sign of a moron. Yes, I will be long dead by the time the sun dies. And? I understood this when I was five years old. Is this something you've just learned?
I thought it was funny :-)))) And so was the ape joke although I did do apes an injustice in comparing them to men:-))))) As for Creation I can say that I am profoundly grateful for life and death and all that may come in between. It's been PERFECT
Arguing with creationists is like midget wrestling .Youll know you'll win , it doesnt feel right .Creationists where mentaly abused as kids :indoctrinated .
Hey this vid is AMAZING! I've been reading your argument with procommenter YOU GO M8!!! There's another celebration on the 9th of July this year at Cambridge University, where David Attenborough is going to give a lecture about Darwin's life and work, you gonna be there? Cuz i sure as hell am!!!
Thanks. I wish I could be in Cambridge for the lecture. I visited there once. It's a beautiful city. I stayed just around the corner from where Darwin lived.
The proof is incumbent upon those who make the claim. The congregants of Darwin's Church, must dig up the human ancestral relics. Evolutionary THEORY is into its 2nd hundred years. It's eaten its way through billions of dollars of public grant money and to what end? Instead of wasting time, in proving the righteousness & piety of their religion, why don't the lonely brethren of Darwinism find men to love them?
Obviously there are many similarities betwixt simians & humans: fingers, toes, mammae, circulatory & endocrine systems, digestive & excretory functions and on & on. Similarly there are innumerable traits common betwixt humans & equines; between maggots & earthworms and so forth. A vivid imagination, which is the lynch pin upon which human evolutionary conjecture hinges upon, is a requisite for anyone who has a pathological need "to believe."
You conveniently forgot to mention genetic evidence. Mutations in DNA bases are random events which are passed on, so lineages carrying long chains of similar DNA must be related to varying degrees. Do you believe DNA testing should be allowed in criminal courts? DNA establishes paternity between father and child, between grandparent and grandchild, and so on. All living things have DNA. Only a fool would ignore the bare facts.
Why "in the world" would Earthy creatures not have commonalities? How do these commonalities prove that our contemporary collection of creatures "evolved" from a collection of primitive creatures that existed many eons ago?
"How do these commonalities prove that our contemporary "
Are you deliberately being daft? I just stated that mutations are random events. Thus why would two different species carry so many of the same mutations if they weren't related? If you shared exactly the same DNA with another person, you'd be each others' twin.
A fully stretched imagination is required to believe that all life was created by some unknown being using some inexplicable process. Or can you explain it to me?
Your misuse of the word "theory" is evidence of your ignorance of basic science. Perhaps you haven't heard that words can have more than one meaning. In science a theory is a grand explanation, not a guess. Examples are cell theory, gravitational theory, theory of relativity, atomic theory, etc.
-- theory [Gr. "theoria" speculation as opposed to practice] 1. the doctrine or the principles underlying an art as distinguished from the practice of that particular art. 2. a formulated hypothesis, or, loosely speaking, any hypothesis or opinion not based upon actual knowledge. {Fr. p. 1824 of the 29th edition of "Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary" -- 2000}
ENCARTA: THEORY: scientific principle to explain phenomena: a set of facts, propositions, or principles analyzed in their relation to one another and used, especially in science, to explain phenomena
A fact can be proven (observed: heard, touched, smelled, seen} with these meager sensory organs that we possess. Of course one would need facts to theorize. But THEORY is a synonym for CONJECTURE & SUPPOSITION. Theory entails guesswork, even if that guesswork is from heavy-set men sporting beards & suit jackets.
You ever think that science is just abunch of words that old guys made up and we are heading in a very dumb path while other species in the universe took a differen't road then us and are super advanced while we are killing ourselves with useless polotics and sceince that for all we know could just be abunch of bull?
No way Jose, that is the description of a religion and I think you know that. Science enables us to nuke our food and observe the universe in intricate detail and at this point in history is threatening to make religion a relic of the past, hooray.
I hope the funeral is soon so they know that Creationism is truly dead. I'm tired of defending reason.

The third likely died of tuberculosis, for which inbreeding increases the contraction risk.
cottoncandicane 1 year ago
@cottoncandicane
So what's your point? Darwin married his cousin. The 19th century was a time of primitive medicine. Most couples had many children. And a portion of those children died. There's nothing unusual there.
dudev 1 year ago
@dudev The journal BioScience, shows that some of Darwin's concerns about his offspring's health might have been valid. Darwin's son Leonard was a Eugenisist. Darwin still believed that God was the ultimate lawgiver. Darwin noted that aiding the weak to survive and have families could lose the benefits of natural selection, but cautioned that withholding such aid would endanger the instinct of sympathy. Because of Darwinism eugenics was and has been implemented in both America and Nazi Germany.
cottoncandicane 1 year ago
@cottoncandicane
Your ignorance is not surprising. You haven't read Darwin's books. Darwin specifically wrote against artificial selection (eugenics). Natural selection is just that -- NATURAL. Eugenics is the opposite of natural. Farming and animal breeding have more in common with eugenics. The German ideal of Aryan racial purity goes back centuries before Darwin was even born.
dudev 1 year ago
@dudev Why do you LOL at Biblical archeology? Are you saying that is not a fact? Have you looked into it? You don't want it to be true and you find comfort in laughing at it but have you ever wondered why? Why do you care and comment? I know you don't care about my "soul". Why would you care about my supposed ignorance? Here's a easy one, Israel! Look into the prophecies in the Bible and compare. Google biblical archaeology if you really want to educate yourself before LOLing it. :0)

"Why would you care about my supposed ignorance?"
There's no evidence for creation, no matter how you slice it.

dudev 1 year ago
@cottoncandicane None of the stories in the New Testament have been proven at all. If you have evidence, you are special, because no other person on the planet has such evidence. You will never have to work a day of your life. Darwin simply observed and wrote about his observations, and thoughts on what he saw. many thousands of hours of research have in fact supported his initial brilliant thoughts. You may not like him, having never knew him, but he was right, and evidence supports that.
InteGrayting 1 year ago
@cottoncandicane Yep Darwin is dead all right, and you may not have liked the way he lived. But he was still right. His brilliant theory has been studied, and questioned over and over, and the facts support it period. There is only ONE prophecy in the bible, and that is the return of the mythical jesus bringing the end of the world. Since you say the bible's prophecies have been proven true, I ask which ones? If all there is is the end of the world then nothing has come true. We are here.

Magic?

10 ^ 120 power is the cosmological constant (anti-gravitational force) in the cosmos that if it were different by just 1 number, in the evolution of the cosmos, life wouldn't be possible. Check out "the cosmological constant" video on YouTube. It has convinced even hard science physicists there is some kind of Creator.
tbearworld 1 year ago
@tbearworld
My shoe size is constant.
dudev 1 year ago
@tbearworld
And FYI --The physicist in that "cosmological constant" video is Leonard Susskind, a prominent atheist. So I think you're twisting his intended meaning.
dudev 1 year ago
@dudev
So, then why do end of the video does the narrator say "hidden in our laws of nature is a value so precise it was impossible to deny that our universe was designed" Sounds like video is strongly arguing for a Creator. Maybe Susskind has changed his mind. Anthony Flew (most prominent atheist before his death) changed his mind to a belief in a Creator before he died.
tbearworld 1 year ago
@tbearworld
The cosmological constant was only thought of as being constant when physicists believed the universe was static. The universe isn't static. The so-called constant was basically an added variable to explain observational physics. Anyway, they've replaced the constant with the concept of dark energy to sovle the same problem. So the creator argument fails -- It's like saying "there's X amount of cholocale sause in the world, so there must be a creator." Why is X significant?
dudev 1 year ago
@tbearworld
An undefined creator has no scientific value. it doesn't explain anything.
dudev 1 year ago
@tbearworld The dumb "fine tuning" argument fails simply because it's just the way the universe is, and still implies no creator. It's a really dumb, unimaginative argument from ignorance. You can't just say, "life is this way, so God must have made it this way". That's the entirety of the fine tuning argument. It's idiotic.
alphaenemy 2 months ago
If Charles Darwin is right...,then life doesn't have any ultimate purpose (except maybe to survive for a brief time). Why have a war between science and religion, since religion gives mankind a higher purpose. I believe there is much more evidence for a higher order (god) than just biology. There is the amazing fine tuning of the cosmos and without this razors edge tuning, the evolution of life wouldn't be possible. Would any scientist suggest that 10 to the 120 power is not design?
tbearworld 1 year ago
@tbearworld
"then life doesn't have any ultimate purpose"
Darwin showed how new species come about, which has nothing to do with the cosmos or if there's a purpose to life.
"the evolution of life wouldn't be possible."
And you don't know how many different ways there are for life to exist. So you can't say whether or not life would be possible under different conditions. You're throwing around baseless arguments.
dudev 1 year ago
@tbearworld You "believe" there is evidence for a higher order against all reality. That is true faith right there. Believing there is something when there is nothing. No evidence. Nothing. Many, many scientists suggest that the cosmological constant is no evidence of design. You're inferring design because you want there to be design. You're PUTTING the idea of design there. Your brain is doing it because you want that constant to have a designer.

And how can I respect your answer when it's clear you don't know what you're talking about. Sorry. And obviously, science isn't always correct. But you can't be right unless you risk being wrong. It is indeed possible that one day it turns out the creation myth of Genesis was in fact right and evolution turns out to be wrong. What a pity Darwin didn't have access to an electron microscope.
I'm sure if he could have looked deep into the complexity of the cell he never would have come up with the theory of Evolution.
2worldsatwar 2 years ago
Is ignorance bliss? Complexity is not indicative of intelligent design --but efficiency is. And biological systems are far from efficient. In fact, the animal cell itself is of poor natural design --of inferior workmanship.
And some amoeba, lizards, lungfish, plants, etc. have far greater genome sizes than do humans --making them more complex. It all only makes sense in the light of evolution. Unless you can explain who the intelligent designer is, of course. I don't expect an answer.

Not until it's too late I'm sure. Not propoganda, just our future.
InteGrayting 1 year ago
@cottoncandicane The difference between propoganda, and learned fact is this: Propoganda has only to be said and believed by those who are willing to just believe what they are told. Learned fact is simply fact. Fact does not require agreement, nor does it require comprehension. You are basing life on the question "why?" Where I base life on the question "how?" I find "how" brings study, and knowledge, and "why" just leads to pondering and beliefs without fact or understanding.

AsEasyAsEasyIs 2 years ago

Have you discussed this with your parole officer?

Creationists are incapable of serious discussion. You've had your chance. Piss off.

"What does evolutionary THEORY"
Perhaps you're ignorant of the fact that most words have multiple definitions. THEORY in the context of science means an explanation for a set of facts, observations, and phenomena. It's the opposite of supposition. Unless you want to believe that CELL THEORY or ATOMIC THEORY are based on guesswork. Religious people--stupid and proud of it.
dudev 2 years ago
Science is fr. the Latin verb "scire" meaning to know.
[theory : CONJECTURE, SPECULATION, SUPPOSITION {Merriam-Webster}]
In no dictionary is THEORY ever a synonym of FACT.

Look again Einstein:
Merriam Webster: 5;THEORY: "a plausible or scientifically acceptable general principle or body of principles offered to explain phenomena (the wave theory of light)"
I didn't say it was a synonym of fact. I said theory is an explanation for a set of facts.
dudev 2 years ago
WEBSTER: 1. A well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world; an organized system of accepted knowledge that applies in a variety of circumstances to explain a specific set of phenomena; "theories can incorporate facts and laws and tested hypotheses";
dudev 2 years ago
Of course theories incorporate facts. Science fiction has always relied heavily on what is provable. That's what makes it believable.
AsEasyAsEasyIs 2 years ago
"Science fiction has always relied heavily on what is provable."
How are you ---or a few creationist frauds--qualified to judge evolution? If you honestly think creationism is a better explanation, please provide the details of the creation. When did it happen? Where? How? Simply pointing to the bible and saying "god did it" isn't an explanation of anything.
dudev 2 years ago
Please feel free to give me a definition of evolution right now, without googling an answer. What do you think evolution says? How can you criticize something you don't even understand?
dudev 2 years ago
And it's sad that you think the argument comes down to a simple dictionary definition.
dudev 2 years ago
you on crack? darwin admitted on his death bed that he was wrong! it was only a theory!! why can't you people get that!!!!!! geez oh crimeny!!!
murriettapoms 2 years ago
Even if such a ridiculous story were true, it wouldn't make a bit of difference, since the mountains of evidence, which you clearly know nothing about, speak to evolution being one of the strongest facts in science.
Ignorance is a sin.

LOL

"You are evidently a fanatical follower of Mr Darwin"
Typical comment from a person who cannot distinguish the difference between science, belief, and politics.
"Can science explain the origins of the Universe?"
Can religion explain anything? Simply saying "god did it" isn't an explanation of any value.
And it's the sadistic Christians and Muslims who seem to wait expectantly for the end of the world.
dudev 2 years ago
I was just commenting on your enthusiasm for Mr. Darwin. Don`t be so upset. I understand that you may find the "God did it" as if you have nothing to grab on to. Understandable. As for the end of the world it will happen when the sun cools down but don`t worry you will be long gone by then.
LOL
carmenmarcos 2 years ago
You use a lot of words without saying much. So far, you've criticized science and mocked your own ape ancestry.Try saying something in support of creation; if you can.
dudev 2 years ago
"As for the end of the world it will happen when the sun cools down but don`t worry you will be long gone by then.
LOL "
How is this funny from your perspective? Stating the obvious generally isn't humorous. It's actually the sign of a moron. Yes, I will be long dead by the time the sun dies. And? I understood this when I was five years old. Is this something you've just learned?
dudev 2 years ago
I thought it was funny :-)))) And so was the ape joke although I did do apes an injustice in comparing them to men:-))))) As for Creation I can say that I am profoundly grateful for life and death and all that may come in between. It's been PERFECT
LOL

A vivid imagination, which is the lynch pin upon which human evolutionary conjecture hinges upon, is a requisite for anyone who has a pathological need "to believe."
procommenter 3 years ago
You conveniently forgot to mention genetic evidence. Mutations in DNA bases are random events which are passed on, so lineages carrying long chains of similar DNA must be related to varying degrees. Do you believe DNA testing should be allowed in criminal courts? DNA establishes paternity between father and child, between grandparent and grandchild, and so on. All living things have DNA. Only a fool would ignore the bare facts.
dudev 3 years ago
Why "in the world" would Earthy creatures not have commonalities? How do these commonalities prove that our contemporary collection of creatures "evolved" from a collection of primitive creatures that existed many eons ago?
procommenter 3 years ago
"How do these commonalities prove that our contemporary "
Are you deliberately being daft? I just stated that mutations are random events. Thus why would two different species carry so many of the same mutations if they weren't related? If you shared exactly the same DNA with another person, you'd be each others' twin.

"A vivid imagination"
A fully stretched imagination is required to believe that all life was created by some unknown being using some inexplicable process. Or can you explain it to me?
dudev 3 years ago
No one knows the origin of Man.
No one has the intellect.

"No one has the intellect."
Clearly, you don't have the willingness to get off your lazy ass to find out, since you obviously don't know the first thing about biology.
dudev 3 years ago
Are you standing?
procommenter 3 years ago
Your misuse of the word "theory" is evidence of your ignorance of basic science. Perhaps you haven't heard that words can have more than one meaning. In science a theory is a grand explanation, not a guess. Examples are cell theory, gravitational theory, theory of relativity, atomic theory, etc.
dudev 3 years ago
-- theory [Gr. "theoria" speculation as opposed to practice] 1. the doctrine or the principles underlying an art as distinguished from the practice of that particular art. 2. a formulated hypothesis, or, loosely speaking, any hypothesis or opinion not based upon actual knowledge. {Fr. p. 1824 of the 29th edition of "Dorland's Illustrated Medical Dictionary" -- 2000}

ENCARTA: THEORY: scientific principle to explain phenomena: a set of facts, propositions, or principles analyzed in their relation to one another and used, especially in science, to explain phenomena
dudev 3 years ago
A fact can be proven (observed: heard, touched, smelled, seen} with these meager sensory organs that we possess. Of course one would need facts to theorize. But THEORY is a synonym for CONJECTURE & SUPPOSITION. Theory entails guesswork, even if that guesswork is from heavy-set men sporting beards & suit jackets.

"But THEORY is a synonym for CONJECTURE & SUPPOSITION."
No, theory as you use it is a colloquialism. I'm sure you heard of that word; you've written all those books after all.

You ever think that science is just abunch of words that old guys made up and we are heading in a very dumb path while other species in the universe took a differen't road then us and are super advanced while we are killing ourselves with useless polotics and sceince that for all we know could just be abunch of bull?

Since you typed that comment on a computer, which is the product of science, I'm going to have to say, NO.
But politics is bullshit.

No way Jose, that is the description of a religion and I think you know that. Science enables us to nuke our food and observe the universe in intricate detail and at this point in history is threatening to make religion a relic of the past, hooray.
