My dad was a test pilot in WWII, if you wanted one for an underwater attraction he rode it to the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay when the catapult misfired, early 1944. They left it there. He was stationed at the Patuxent River Naval air station. Said it sunk in mud immediately and he only got out by luck. Stayed in until all his oxygen used up, then hoped the plane was right side up 'cause couldn't see because of the mud, pulled the ejection seat and blew the canopy. Luckily it WAS upright!
And why exactly are you ruining A PERFECTLY FUCKING GOOD REPLICA?! You're about as brilliant as the idiots who sink the ships for new reefs, which will subsequently be forgotten after about five years. At least let the girl have her dignity. Ships, aircraft, and others are like the Japanese. They either live out their years serving a purpose, or commit suicide.
Seriously, come on! Why would anyone think this was a great idea to attract divers? How about parking the plane on the shore. That will attract attention. Also replica's such as this one help continue the history of the real aircraft. Case in point the Me-262 replicas that are being produced and flown privately.
Think about what's gonna happen in about 50 years when somebody dives to this plane...their gonna think they've really found something.
All this does is screw up everything. Sooner or later authentic wrecks can't be found because of all the phony wrecks that people are gonna be stumbling over.
@guitardavid79 lol it is sunk in a quarry for divers. Its been dove a ton and no one is confused. Dutch has lots of stuff down there for divers to swim around, otherwise we just be looking at rocks and zebra mussels.
they usally do it to make a reef for fish.
