CFW can brick your PSP. I've heard of people who's PSPs were bricked and they warranty was voided for use of the CFW so they were out of luck. BTW I've played tons of UMDs and not even one made my PSP suffer.

The chance to brick a PSP through CFW is about less than 1% (if you follow the directions directly). Other than that, the only reason why a person would brick their PSP through CFW is either they downloaded a bad CFW patch, or they just didn't know what they were doing. Anyways, even though there is still a negligible percentage of bricking your PSP, the CFW's now have a recovery menu which you can still access even in a Brick state, you basically PSP CFW's are good.
