  • Frankie worked at the Warehouse back in the day!

  • I'm burnin up.....yeyaaaaaaah

  • @captainumbnuts #

    i'm burnin up.......yoohoo

  • This along with Just an illusion were for me the best from this band. This was the b side of Flashback another of their stronger songs: I found the rest rather "samey"

  • whoever the keyboard player is, they're beatin that piano into the floor!!!

  • @1blessedbrotha Yeah they they are and I've hammered the piano the same way playing this song. I've created similar songs that are copyrighted

  • piano sound for the conisoir so get on it proper old school floor filler oh yeah baby.

  • if you dont get on this one then you aint on it, doggy outfits but still a red hot track.

  • AWESOME AWESOME>>>. WAY AHEAD>> WAY AHEAD.... IMAGINATION ARE PIONEERS... AND YES IT IS HOUSY TOO!

  • When the album Body Talk came out in 81, I was in my late teens. We played it till it wore out...we had never heard music quite like this, it was so, so cool. This was always one of my fave tracks and still is 30 years on, it's timeless. It was all about having fun, friends, fast cars......secrets and pearls and lots of pretty girls lol...happy music, bless Imagination, thanks for the music

  • Great sound by an underestimated group.....they could have done a lot more....

  • @truro007 They did do a lot more! I have their "Gold" greatest hits album. Dudes were frackin' wall to wall with the monster hits.

  • AWRIGHT RONNNNNIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

  • @Abdurazz You know phrat...I did not know they were responsible for this cut.....WOW!!! Straight Ron"Party"Hardy. BoxHeads...stand the hell up DAMN IT!!!!

  • I guess alot oe people don't really understand what house music is-at least from a Chicago perspective. It's a combination of everything-from disco, to soulful r&b, to new wave, to punk, to some rock songs, to tracks and beats that were made. It's all of that stuff, including this song. This is house, and if you didnt know, now you do, and if you still don't know, then you never will.

  • @Smokeg1016 I'm from Chicago, born & raised in the early 70's growing up throughout the 80's. I understand exactly where you are coming from. Chi-Town is the original birthplace of House Music though it didn't get national exposure until groups like Ten City brought it to mainstreet America by the late 80's early 90's. Still Imagination was a head of its' time & this sound was highly embraced by audiences in the U.K. more so than (ON A NATIONAL LEVEL) here in the U.S. Great Song!

  • i love the piano...

  • Classic beat. I was young when this was made,I was supposed to" Not" understand what music was about. This song could still rock at a club today, I'd bet on that.

  • Watch the boys doing this classic LIVE on youtube:

  • VINTAGE HOUSE YEAAAAHHHH !!

  • Played more in HOUSE music venues than anywhere else, making the 'this is not house music ' claim though technically true, naive.

  • If this record had come out of Chicago in 1983, then I think history might have suggested (several times) that it did indeed hold a pretty legitimate claim for being the first ever house record.

  • It's not House to me...cause this is real music; and not sampled pieces from existing musics, produced thanks to computers ... here, at least, the drums are real and were played on real drums by THEM, so were the pianos, and synthesizers as well as the bass..."House" is a recuperation of existing music, produced thanks to technology that made things easy even for non-musicians...Imagination were true musicians, and true funkers...this is NOT "house" ...label them house or disco as much as you want!

  • @VintageSoundsNumber1 i think you don't know much about house music! You think that every piece of house music is a replica of something previous....thats A LOT of plagiarism that's been going on eh!? theres a lot of house music out there from a quarter of a century...to claim all house producers as 'non-musicians' is childish.

'Imagination were true musicians, true funkers'....you should've just left it at that you infant

  • @lozcontreras

??!!! WHAT'S THAT ??! OOoooh ! Your comment DOES suck ! And so you do ! Come on,kiddo, return playin' with your toys, this is serious music ! Anyways, the mere fact that you like house accounts for the fact that you have shitty tastes in ... (hem) in "music" ;... that's for sure !

  • @VintageSoundsNumber1 what you on man? 'the fact that you have shitty tastes in ... (hem) in "music"'...you dont know me!! We both like Imagination don't we? ...I'm having a difficult time figuring you out, are you ok?

  • @lozcontreras

Hey man ! It's your comment that was aggressive to me first, right ??! You did reply to a comment that I have posted a few weeks or month,or so (I don't remember in fact...) and it was kinda disrespectful to me; right ? That's all ...when a guy who posts comments here ignores me, I sure will end up forgetting him too...see what I mean ?

  • @lozcontreras cross genre is just someone being creative with the tools they have

firstly no ideas original.and it wasnt called house at the time but people still loved it!

  • Does anyone have the instrumental of Just an Illusion? If so can you post been lookin for it the past 5 years.

  • this was house before it was called house

  • I remember being so inspired with the keyboard solo, I had to learn it! UGO BOYRLS!!!!

  • @simonmedianetworks Yeah? Well maybe me and you should go on tour and play that song because Ican play the whole thing and Ihave the right synth bass program that sounds like the original synth they used.

  • never mind, I just saw live version, definitely jazz as well!

  • this is R&B music from the era. the music is more disco and pop than house. but they would play this in early "house" gigs, before house music was invented per se. check out the ron hardy mix from 83 on youtube, its the first track on part 1. and in ronnie fashion, he played this song much faster than it was :))

  • Leee john back on the road touring , Imagination flashback tour , cant wait , saw them back in 1983 ......Bring it on

  • When Frankie played this cut at the Warehouse, we went crazy!!!! 206 S. Jefferson...ya' heard?

  • You know what's amazing? Most of the R&B songs from between 1977 and 1983 could be played in a house set around that time as well.

This is a track that could be appreciated in a house and smooth jazz set now.

  • What a tune...Never thought it was that old!!!!! Excellent upload!!!!

  • Def got us burnin' up, UK in the 'house' - thanks for posting...

    xxx SoulsticeTV xxx

  • This is house Music???? oh yeah!!!!

  • This sounds like the very first house song. Imagination must've been ahead of their time.

  • bangin

  • house music in 1980?

  • amazing right?

  • dear heart, do your homework...im 55yrs. old and started going to a club in Chicago, called the warehouse in the early 70's(thats where the name "house music" came from).Ever hear of a D.J. named Frankie Knuckles?

  • @Toussaint7 What's up my brother? I'm 36 and from Chicago. Please continue to educate because Chi-Town is the birthplace of House Music.

  • @sashadeluca

They were a UK band IN THE 80s.

This is not from the year 1980.

  • Magic Stuff :)

  • thankyou mathew for this songs i love you im 22 year old, but i love that music
