! Disagree on top zombie type. If all dead come back as zombie - it deals more with our perception and fear of the past, the notion that there is very little one can do to prevent themselves from joining the other, and two we are all part of this other without actually being part.

Anyway they weren't vamps because not all of them feared the same thing some were afraid of the bible and some weren't Even to the extent if it was placed on them it might burn. Think of the guy who froze to death in the freezer that wasn't on. Also their only connection to vampires was the sunlight however after research Nevell found that both garlic and the sun effected them due to a germ in their system

The fact that they were intelligent and could speak certainly rules out that they were zombies in any manner (traditional Haitian or Romero style).

Also the only reason I say that they were not vamps is because Neville said so himself in the story. Also anyone can come up with their own interpretation of a zombie. What you are refering to are traditional zombies. I don't think Matheson meant to but he inadvertently did before any mention of them before. 1954. Also Haitian zombies can do whatever their commanded.

@rillera25 Actually there were two brands of them. One animalistic who fed on whatever and each other. The other was a more social class who had created their own utopia. However it was never stated if the second class of zombies were superior to regular humans only that they had certain defects like not being able to stay in the sun long without massive amounts of sun blocker.

Handling the undead!!! It's an amazing zombienovel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. This book put a twist to the general idea of zombie appcalypses. It's an awesome book and it's really scary. The author is an awesome writer and has been called Swedens Stephen King (allthough I think he writes more like Lovecraft or Clive Barker). Read it!

You're WRONG about "I Am Legend." The novel wasn't "vaguely vampiric," but was entirely so. The monsters are vampires, not zombies, and are repelled/killed by sunlight, stakes through the heart, religious icons, etc.

I agree with your list except I would replace L4D 2 with L4D 1. The atmosphere in Left 4 Dead 1 is much more suited for a proper apocalypse. Number 2 was too light hearted during some parts. Still a great game, but as for top zombie apocalypses, L4D 1 should replace 2.
