This song was not written to have any religious meaning. Christians have interpreted this song as a song that glorifies Christ by creating dramatic skits to this song. The song is actually about an intense love affair between a man and a woman. Yes i agree, this can definably be interpreted as a love affair between God and man however that was not what Jim Steinman wrote the song about. Therefore yall have no rhyme or reason to be offended/upset because these girls used this particular song.
I'm a college student as well, and my major is actually theatre, but I would never have used such a powerful song as a comedy. This song is suppose to glorify Christ, not mock Him. I'm not offended, just grieved you would dance to a song like this instead of another song. You all should check out the REAL VERSION of this song. It is very powerful.. it may help you turn around.
Just to clear a few things up, this dance was done as part of a talent show at a church. We are all college students, and thought it would be funny to do a "interpretive" dance to this song. None of us are dancers, as evidenced by the video, we were just trying to be funny. The cross has nothing to do with the dance.
I don't get why everyone is laughing. My drama team used to do this skit all the time, and the way we did it...made people think...NOT laugh. I'm not going to say our way was better, but I do think the laughing was uncalled for.
actually, i'm not going to say that it's NOT Holy laughter, but there's a place in the Bible that calls for order in the church, and that laughing just seems out of place to me. But, God knows what He was doing if it was God.
well, you noticed the cross on the stage- it's in a church. I bet any money it is a Charismatic church and they have this belief they call "Holy Laughter" Trust me, it is not found in the Bible, but some people made it up to bring a euphoric element to their worship. It is a type of agreement toward what is happening. Kinda like how Southern Baptist types shout AMEN every third sentence the preacher says. As a believer in Christ, I find it disrespectful and easily misunderstood.
This is just too funny!
I liked it a lot!

And in order to find this dance funny 1) you have to know the girls who are in it and 2) Don't give religious meaning to the song

This was a mock talent show. They were trying to be serious for comedic effect. It was supposed to be funny. and is if you know the girls.
