  • I think that is the WTC towers being built there- it would certainly correlate with when they were completed- and are there any other buildings that look (ed) like that in NYC?

  • This song is so true...

  • Wasn't there a segment where Lea Selonga sang a version of this song? Does anyone have that clip? If so...please post it! Her voice is also pretty :)

  • This is one of those songs that start out simple enough but grows with incredible power so by the end you're simply left thinking, "Wow!"

  • Wow! that song brought back so many sesame Street memories for me , I wish they could bring all that old stuff back for the kids today...

  • they need to bring back these old sesame street skits. Sesame Street today is pure garbage

  • @noreaga12326

I COMPLETELY agree with you - what with Elmo elimating the show's soul

and essentially every skit being remade with him - it makes me sad.

  • cute lil chick.

  • '...Watching how the good things grow...'

Upbeat Joe Raposo from the 1970's - a childhood staple for me and many others!

  • my favorite song-tori

  • I remember this song from a video my parents made me off our cable and VCR when I was two,but I never knew the verse about the baby. Now I know the whole thing!:-)

Definitely favoriting this, thanks for putting it up!

  • I simply love this song. Love it!

  • Brings back memories of certain childhood friends. How I wish I could see them again.

  • This is one of those songs (as are several other of Mr. Raposo's) that I can listen to and it really can make my bad day go much better. :-) I wish he could have been my piano teacher growing up.

  • Raposo must have been a huge Ray Charles fan. I can scarcely hear a Raposo song/vocal without imagining Ray Charles singing it.

  • Do you have the 80's version with the lyrics, "Take a look at the nighttime, pouring out on the day?" How else is that version different than this one? This is an all-time classic song!!!! Keep up the great work!

  • i have a question. why did someone delete that video frm sesame streets title "WHAT DO PEOPLE DO ALL DAY?" that was a kick ass video! please bring it back! thanks

  • This may be Raposo's best song! I get chills listening/watching this one.

  • One of my favorite Joe Raposo songs :D

  • I used to sing this to my niece who's nickname is "Little Bit"...now she can finally hear how it's supposed to sound!

    Love it..thanks for posting!

  • can anyboy post a video of the character david singing wet paint? thanks a lot.

  • i love you joe! been looking for this video for a long while. one which i always remember about sesame street. thanks a lot for posting!

  • A chicken at 0:30. A baby at 1:18. They should put a puppy in this video. This "Sesame Street" skit replaced "You Can clean almost anything" a.k.a. "Everything Gets cleaned" on the "Old School" DVD.

  • My favorite Joe Raposo song. The man was absolutely brilliant, and I can still recall the lyrics of songs I haven't seen in many years!

  • oh yeah! this is one of my favorite videos of all time. thanks, joe!

  • I love this song it is a good song to harmonize to. and back-up singing

  • Yeah I think it is the World Trade Center...

  • Are those the world trade centres at 1:31?

  • Honestly, I don't think so. The WTC towers were *much* taller than any other bldgs around them. Today's Sesame Street currently uses a shot in their opening sequence (w/ Big Bird) of one of the NYC boroughs with these bldgs... I'm not from NYC so I can't tell... anyone else?

  • It might be the WTC under construction, because I know they weren't completed until around 1972-1973, and this is around 1969.

  • AND the twin weren't built yet

  • Beautiful song!!! Does Joe sing this? If not, who is the vocalist?

  • This is Joe.

  • *sigh*

Joe Raposo doesn't get any better than this!

  • Awesome song!

  • talk about serendipity, I was singing this while I was pumping gas at the HESS station and 2 other customers sang right along with me.

  • too funny lol, i can just see that!

  • Trivia: this is the clip that replaced "You can wash anything..." in Episode 1 on the DVD. It's a shame they had to replace anything, but this is still a good choice for the first episode!
