  • I bought that exact same Dual turntable (CS-506) at a Tech HiFi in 1980.

  • Just think -- someday, iPods will look just as obsolete!

  • New York chain??? NOT QUITE Ace...

It may have migrated there but it started in Boston ---- typical that you yorkers continue to try and lay claim to what others do....

  • what this jurassic park junk it should be in the same land fill as the atari 2600 game ET is in .

  • Where is the mp3 player ??? xD

  • @PPGCSuicide Records sound better!!

  • I miss those old receivers with all those pretty chrome dials and toggles and buttons and how they lit up. When I was a kid in the 70's I'd play "Star Trek" flipping those switches and dials for hours-on-end. Now it's all black faces and minimalist displays--no more style.

  • This is a work of art!

Gone are the days of fantastic true Analog!

    Great video and thanks!

    Brent

  • Turntables from Dual ... LOL got one Here and its Awesum !

  • Check out the yellow Sennheiser 414 headphones near the end. R.I.P. Dr. Fritz Sennheiser, who died May 17, 2010. The 414s started it all.

  • I bought a Sony Dolby cassette player from the former Royal Oak, Michigan store on Woodward Ave.

  • GREAT store! I used to go to the one in Paramus, as a high schooler, and mostly DROOL! I was in heaven when my parents bought a graduation present for me... a complete system with Ohm and Nikko... or was it Onkyo? gear!!!

  • I used to go to the same store. Nikko was top notch stuff. Ohm is still around and sells factory direct from Brooklyn, NY.

  • That little jingle at the end was beautiful.

  • I think the best technology of the World!!

  • i think they had a couple stores in boston

  • I got my Dual 606 turntable (shown in the video) from Tech HiFi... I got it for $200 in about 1980.

I just sold (basically gave it away) 5 years ago as I was selling off the bulk of my posessions to go on a year-long trip.

I wish I had it back and my half-speed mastered albums, too!

  • hahaha, excellent :)

  • I worked in the store in Westport, CT 79-81.

    Oh the memories :)

  • i get a happy feeling and i feel all warm inside after watching this

  • ALL THE STERo AND TAPES SHOWN IN THAT COMERCIAL HAVE BETTER SOUND ARE MADE WITH BETTER QUALITY THAN THE NEW SHIT THAT PEOPLE BUY NOW ADAYS. CDS SUCK VYNIL HAS A BETTER SOUND.

  • Actually, the reason most CDs made today sound bad is because they are mastered poorly (i.e., too loud). Search for "Loudness War" here on YouTube to see an excellent demonstration of this.

While I agree vinyl has great sound, a well-mastered CD played back through top-shelf D/A converters is wonderful too. And both formats pale in comparison to 24-bit audio and 2-inch, 30ips analog tape.

  • @freakybuzz Thank you for sharing that. I did look it up. I had no idea. Is there a way you can know before hand if this has been done to the music before you buy it??

  • I think this is the only reference to Tech HiFi on youtube. They were a fixture in NY in the 1970s (Ohm Speakers).

  • Catch those classic yellow-foamed Sennheiser headphones at the end (HD 420s? 424s?).

  • love the song!

  • LOVED this place. Bought all my Ohm speakers there. There's my boombox in the clip!

  • Ya gotta love the laserdisc player from Pioneer! Looks like a VP-1000.

  • @databits i was going to say if someone had notice that xD
