  • thankyou for kirby and somers .

  • Recorded at Central Hall, Westminster on August 30th 1927.

  • Its a crank up with original finish and an upright floor modle about l9l7. Plays well sometimes the spring makes a noise. It was my grand mothers. Victor made the Victrola with the dog ad on it. And their radio was Radiola....later RCA Victor ....We had Comumbia also which used the name Gramophone...We I have a few posted .......no video actually tho.

  • OH most of mine are from WW1, and early to late 20's & 30's not a lot but the bin in the bottom of the Victrola is full up. Kind of a mix ...thanks..

  • I would love to hear some!Victrola is such a nice name!We use gramophone here. What is yours like?

  • You have a great Victrola, tell us a little about it- age, etc....Your record collection is one of the best CONGRATULATIONS, on good taste........

  • Many thanks for the kind comment!I dont know very much other than it is a His Masters Voice 145-"orthophonic"from about 1930.I have a large number of 78s but small compared to others on here!Do you have many?

  • Wow! It's Stanley Kirkby! I never knew he sang with Debroy Somers.

I wish all 78s where made in a public hall. Can you imagine if Somers had recorded for Decca? This would have well been fully carpeted lol!

  • You are clever to tell its him-i'm useless but yes it does sound like him.LOL re the carpet!-these are such good recordings in my book, why i'm such a Somers fan.
