Our company is using this technology to replicate body parts (primarily spines and skulls) for pre-surgical planning (typically for scoliosis, kypohosis, and craniosynostosis cases). Our models have also been used in personal injury legal cases.
You can follow our YouTube channel (ACRMcorp) or visit our main website (ACRMcorp [dot] com).
You can also see actual patient pathology cases (and purchase 3D models) at Medical3Dmodels [dot] com.
This is not really new technology. I mean.. the video itself is 4 years old, and I actually got one of my 3d models printed in one of these back in 2003. I'm sure they make them better now then they did in 03, but even then it could get fine details and such.
by the looks these are plaster and then therefore from a Zcorp printer look it up guys 3D printers exist. also the ball and barings comes with the 3D printer and so does the tea cup.
Cool video. Also, our channel is dedicated to educating individuals on all of the additive technologies as well. If you'd like to click AdditiveTechnologies to the left you can watch these machines and hear a narrator explain everything as well.
What items can we buy in any given retail store that has been totally printed with a 3D printer? This is a technology we should be racing to develop and refine; not just use as an attention getter.
@tapix92 Well, a teleporter takes energy to matter to the next level. For it dematerializes matter first, turns it to energy, and then puts it back exactly the same way it was before. I think that technology will be awhile yet...lol but it'll happen
Soon we will all be buying online and instead of things being shipped to you it will be printed right in your house. There are things out there that you all dont know about that are hard to understand and wrap your mind around. Think about a portable TV that is paper thin and is bendable. Soon those are going to be attached as accessories onto clothing or watches and such. Or you can just have large ones that you carry around to watch TV and you wont hurt them at all. This is coming soon.
They aren't sold publicly yet, they are private and you can't buy stock in it yet. There are colleges that have it like mine. Its pretty awesome, it works the same as a regular printer but instead of ink its this glue like substance. It can be the same color and everything. Instead of paper its a dust like or flour like material that is layered over and over with this glue like substance. You need 3D software to be able to make things.
actually, they do, it switches between a plastic and a special polymer that disolves when put in a acid. this allows printers to create unbroken chains and ball bearings
@shailen101 Nope. Patents have already been bought up by various conglomerates so that when the technology is here, they will keep it under wraps. Companies stand to be decimated if they let complex 3D printing go ahead. :(
It works in layers, it actually "prints" a thin layer at a time. Using a bonding agent "sprayed" much like an ink jet printer sprays ink, onto a thin layer of material once it has sprayed the machine slides another thin layer on top of what it just "printed". this builds the object up and also allowing for un-bonded parts to shake lose any material when the object is finished printing. So you don't assemble anything by hand really it is printed as on object that is fully assembled!
As far as i know (don't quote me) most of these parts are for modeling use only. In some cases it could be used as a functional unit but for now I think the limiting factor is the bonding agents used ie glue and plaster or some other combination.
The ball bearing doesn't seem very well designed, as it lacks a cage.

BurnDuck 4 years ago
not only can you make prototypes.. i guess you can make prototypes for molds, like to make an imprint in the mold to make metal or plastic product.
essentialcat 4 years ago
Thats actually something i have been thinking about for a long time.
I make molds, and usually i have to make the prototypes for them by hand... Yeah good old fashioned carving.
A 3D Printer would speed up that process so good, and probably is also more acurate then i would be...
djteac 3 years ago
Lol i feel really bad for you now :<. Technology taking over peoples jobs!
jayboy81101 3 years ago
Not really, i'm basicaly a 3D Artist.
And sometimes i have to create molds for prototypes of some 3D Stuff i createt.
So a 3D printer would enhance my work, not take over my job ;)

azqrlaf 4 years ago
How does it do seperate parts? Surely it has to do seperate parts for you to assemble by hand?
DavidRGilson 5 years ago
It works in layers, it actually "prints" a thin layer at a time. Using a bonding agent "sprayed" much like an ink jet printer sprays ink, onto a thin layer of material once it has sprayed the machine slides another thin layer on top of what it just "printed". this builds the object up and also allowing for un-bonded parts to shake lose any material when the object is finished printing. So you don't assemble anything by hand really it is printed as on object that is fully assembled!
dafly98 5 years ago
Very interesting! Can the parts that are printed be made to, or nearly to functional strength? ...or is it for modeling only?
phantasm48 4 years ago
As far as i know (don't quote me) most of these parts are for modeling use only. In some cases it could be used as a functional unit but for now I think the limiting factor is the bonding agents used ie glue and plaster or some other combination.
