i corect all of you. Gunther has only one parent, the merchant. Gunthers mother was the daughter of a rich trader and the merchant married her only for her money. when gunther was young hs mother went missing and when he asks his father what happened to her, he gets very angry.

Is it just me, or did anyone else squeal when Gunther helped Jane? I'm more of a JxJ shipper, but I still thought it was cute how he wanted to help her and Dragon out.

As annoying as Gunther was this episode, you can't blame him with parents like that (and he was right about Dragon giving Jane an edge). No wonder he can be cruel. Clearly it's the only way to get his worthless merchant father's approval.

Why is it that none of the characters seem to openly realize what an abusive jerkass Magnus Breech is? Gunther is constantly covering for his father out of filial duty/fear of getting the crap beaten out of him, yet NO ONE CARES. No wonder his people skills are lacking. :(

Love this show I'm almost 19, its not like those cheesy kid shows but actually has awesome characters and a storyline to follow. I never have read the books that this was based on, but I'm tempted to now. Love dragon especially at the end where he trips Magnus with a pumpkin.

Why do they let the merchant stay around when he is such an obvious jerk? I would have had him drawn and quartered by now (well, maybe just put in the stocks for a day or two) and Gunther is always taking the heat for it, guilt by association (DNA so to speak). Dragon is no fool, though and deals well with the "short lives".
