  • Where did you get this ROM anyway? I can't find one that works. i got DeSmuME too, but i can't find anything that actually works. ITS INFURIATING!!!!!

  • Hmm. you could speed the video and your voice up slightly so that it sounds normal to your veiwers.... but that would suck for you. I guess it would be okay if you're not doing it blind.

  • "he will play dark dawn next year" i get this info by reading in his description in his channel.

  • when will you play this Game?

  • @Mcgammer How do you play this and what's your settings?

  • Are you recording using the DS game? I want to know how to record from my DS with this quality. Any suggestions on what to do or what I need?

  • @Lordofthelosers01 He's actually using a DS emulator on his computer, called DesMuMe.

  • You can try recording the game directly using DesMuMe. It will slow the game down but when you run your recording back, it will be in perfect speed.

Open your DesMume -> Go to File -> Scroll down to Record AVI.

You do need a video editing program though. And be sure to compress video since DesMuMe records it in extremely high quality.

Or you can use no$gba with no$zoomer to help increase the emulator screen size, system requirements are a lot lower than DesMuMe.

  • How do you get the DS screens side by side?

  • how did you get the rom for GS:DD

  • DeSmuME is good when it comes to compatibility, but what you need is speed. Try using No$GBA and record while playing that. If your computer isn't powerful enough and No$ runs slow, you can use DeSmuME's record function to remove all the lag, and then tack a voice track onto it later.

  • Oh gosh the sound...it's...horrendous >.<

    But yay McGammar's doing GS:DD, hope it'll work out!~

  • Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is a generation after Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age. No, seriously.

  • You could just play the songs that are for the area's is the sound in the back is really a problem, also i think if you do lp you should increase the screen size. to max

  • i use DesMuMe and i got no lagg (however i didnt try this game on it yet)

  • I use DesMuMe too, there is no escaping the lag, just make sure you have no internet of other applications open and it should lag LESS.

Looking forward to the real thing :D

  • Soundy blips...? From now on I'm adding that to my gamer's lingo xD

  • i think the sound of ur computer not good enough u should try using this program (No$Zoomer) it can set sound everything u nid

  • Bolt you could ask tnguy245 about his settings hid dark dawn lp does not lag that much

  • Fucking stoked for this LP.

  • oh wow haha.. I can't wait for you to do a ful blown lets play of this...

Wow, I just realized how much I missed that voice xD I am gonna watch your old lets plays now ^v^

  • I have no idea how to fix it, when I got a translated version of HeartGold before it came out to demo it the 3D graphics where horrible, it couldn't load areas, and it crashed A LOT.

  • The sound is normally awesome... but the lag kills the timing.... yeah... you might want to turn that off... Also, graphically demanding areas require more CPU I'm guessing, so I would guess it would be best to turn off all other programs when not in use... unless it's just the emulator that's affecting the gameplay and not the computer. Check if you lag more, less, or the same if you turn off all other programs you are not running. If the lag is the same, then it should be the game or emulator.

  • Man. I've been seeing people lag alot from the 3Dness. I'll just buy the game legit.

  • Wouldn't break my heart for you not to play this game. I thoroughly completed it including getting all Djinn, all items, all forgeable's and all rare drops 5 months ago. Wouldn't be very interesting to see it again. I'm sure others would enjoy it as it's a great game.

And for those who are complaining about the emulators not working very good with the game do yourself a favor and spend the 25 bucks to get it used instead of pirating it.

  • golden sun dark dawn has really strong emulator defense things. i had desmume too, and everything was slow, but the games didn't freeze up, unlike everything else I tried. (Did NO$GBA fail for you too?)

  • Have you tried different emulators?

  • I can't really see a problem with it. Anyways, I've beaten this thing, so I'll just tell you: this'll be ALOT harder and different from the last two games.

  • YES PLEEEEEEEEASE DO AN LP OF THIS GAME! THAT WOULD BE AMAZING!

  • It's not half-bad if you ask me, You ARE emulating it and this game is one of the big ones, I wouldn't mind watching with that kind of lag, I mean, It'd be a pain if they were huge lag-spikes, but right now it just look like it's missing a couple fps.

  • Hey McGammer ive remember those old walkthroughs of Dark Dawns sequel but this one is not that good ... there are a lot of nice nostalgic moments but... also i downloaded the DesMuMe one, its kinda laggy because of the computer

  • I hope you get everything fixed. I normally don't watch LPs of games I plan to get in the future, with spoiler issues and all, but I'll have to break that rule for you. Bolt.

  • I haven't played Golden Sun Dark Dawn... But by the looks of it, i think golden sun 1 and 2 is better... Just my taste of a game :P

  • I don't blame you for not playing the game like this.

DS Emulators just can't play the games properly yet. Tried to play Shin Megami Tensei Strange Journey and the emulators just die. I wouldn't recommend playing this good man, not now at least.

How about that other game where your selling things? Sounds cool to me.

  • Golden sun Dark Dawn is very visual heavy game and even with the lightest settings 90% of the computers cant run the emulator + that game with 100% speed. The technology in emulators that we are having right now takes LOADS of power and space.

  • this game is awesome :D

  • Aw man... So close, yet so far away... Here's hoping this gets fixed!

  • What computer are you using?

  • What emulator are you using?

  • @BelgiumRepresentin DesMuMe, the latest one from their website.

  • @McGammar from what site have you downloaded the rom file for the game?

  • @McGammar I'm using no$GBA and no$Zoomer and the gameplay is at a normal speed but the sound is kinda buzzing but you can still hear the good sound qualities.. BUT SOMETIMES THE ROM IS CRASHING and MY SAVE FILE IS DELETED!!... I suggest that you use nocash if you want normal speed but try to save often and turn off the emulator and turn on it again... But I finished Golden Sun: Dark Dawn in my DeSmuME 0.9.7 x86...... GOSH I FINISHED IT IN 1MONTH!

  • @MasterMerc19 You can always fix the sound by pressing Ctrl R a couple of times to suit your taste of quality. I also use this same method, and I have to say it was great to play Dark Dawn on it!

  • this game is awesome

  • so close to 10,000 subs >.<

  • Most of this will depend on your CPU type. Graphics and hard disk space are not that important when it comes to emulators.. Emulators and screen capturing tend to use a lot of the CPU's strength ( per software ) If your running a multi-core CPU, then you should have better results while running both programs.

I see you have a ton of audio problems. Close all other programs while capturing the videos. I would recommend a few other capturing programs as well. Fraps and Camsastia are well known.

  • I want to play this game.. =(

  • *cries with pure joy*

  • I HOPE TO FUCK YOU FIX THIS

  • is it supposed to be sideways like that? Thats different for a DS game, but then again all i really play is megaman games on my DS

in terms of help, all i can offer is stating that you might need an upgrade. i'm not an expert at this by any stretch, but it could be the emulator not agreeing with the rom. your comp is fine to run it, it really is just a software issue.

hope you get the stuff resolved, this game has piqued my interest

  • @ParadoX505 I bet he just chose to arrange the windows like that.

  • Oooooh... I really hope this ends up getting done sometime in the next... eventually!

  • Running from the bios method tends to help. As far as the white screen, that can be attributed to AP issues. As has been said both emulators have their downfalls. All in all it comes down to how bad do you want this LP to continue. I didn't like this Golden Sun, but that of course is one man's opinion.

Your computer is just fine to run it, trust me on that. More than likely it's the emulator or a sound quip with the screen capturing program.

Try posting your emulator settings, this is helpful.

  • Yes Mcgammers back!

  • Oh goddamn this game is so awesome!

  • this must be #3 of the series

  • love this game!

  • It looks like it works just fine to me. The sound might be a little off, but its not horrible enough to stop an LP.

  • "Utterly breaks" on no$gba, I meant. Sorry for the poor wording.

  • omg ive been waiting for this <3 once you start doing it i will with ya :D

  • DS emulators suck. tried playing fucking EOII with DesMuMe. slow as hell. better wait a coupla generations, neh? probably have to play something less awesome, but still.

  • May I ask how you managed to record both screens simultaneously? I've been trying to do this with emulators in the past and it's never worked out.

  • @SonicBlueSky With Hypercam2 it has a "Record selected window' option, and for DesMuMe it has an option to switch where the screens are and remove the border. With the border gone it's the same window, so Hypercam has perfect aim.

  • @McGammar Aha, so No$ doesn't have this option? I may just try DesMuMe then. Thank you very much.

  • @McGammar Assuming you have a few spare dollars, Fraps is an excellent program for game/desktop capture, and it should run fine on your computer.

  • @McGammar Thanks for this

  • 2:10 Matthew got pot... from a POT!

    *c*

  • try something else than hypercam (or fraps), I had a similar problem with another game.

  • A couple things. I find my games run faster when external BIOS images are disabled, turn interpolation to none on sound, go into task manager and set priority to either high or Realtime, (If on a Laptop) put power plan on high performance, disable Bus-Level timing, turn off Unrealistically High-Precision Color Interpolaration, disable fog and edge marking, and experiment with disabling layers on the screens. (all tips are based off of DeSmuME emulator)

  • Last time I checked, DS emulators are not yet able to fully support the 3D environments used with the console, so maybe that's why; I tried playing Pokemon HG/SS with both No$GBA and DesMuMe, the game would crash seconds into the game.

  • Could you perhaps have too little memory? Maybe it was different for me because I use a laptop, but you never know.

  • For me it depends on the game. Nothing I know to do about it.

  • dark dawn...*twitch*

  • are you using a emulator or no?

  • @hysteria499 I am. Normally I use No$gba, but that utterly breaks; I used DesMuMe for this test.

  • @McGammar ah gotcha. when i tried pokemon black i had to use a code lol. is it a blue screen you get when trying No$?

  • @McGammar Your specs seem fine for recording and playing Dark Dawn. When you say it "utterly breaks", what exactly's going on with the emulator?

  • @SaltOar Basically, on No$Gba, I have two choices; either get stuck on a while screen, or have the game crash when I try to load it from the DS Nintendo Logo screen.

  • @McGammar Ah, right. The issue with no$gba can only be partially solved by patching the ROM a few times over for some users, but DesMuMe offers overall superior performance. I'm speculating here, but you may want to try using different recording programs such as Fraps or PlayClaw. I'll do some tests with the game on my DesMuMe emulator and see if I can offer any more help.

  • what are u using to record

  • @lylatfox4 HyperCam 2, same as always.

  • Post PC specs please

  • @wallmartkiller Alright let's see what I've got here... Says...

    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz

    Memory: 3.00 GB

    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

Gaming Graphics: 1791 MB Total available graphics memory

Primary Hard Disk: 270GB Free (456GB Total)

  • Whats wrong with it? i see nothing wrong. Keep up the good work Boltage! ;D
