  • I can't believe how old this looks now! Makes me feel so old!

  • @LeppardPrintAnimal it looked pretty old at the time i think, compared to stuff like the mysterious cities of gold. i imagine it was made for about 50p an episode!

  • I'm sure he got with his mum in one episode. I mean what a message to send out. When Eric eats a banana he is...Joseph Fritzl.

  • What about this one Tam?! Lol

  • this show ROX

  • I think its imp 2 note this show wasn't taking itself seriously.

  • . . . So this is what British people had for homegrown cartoons on the other side of the Atlantic.

    That's amazingly.....

    ....horrific.

  • @LinkSOB 2 b fair we haven't actually got an animation indust and the best cartoon we eva put out was prob Dangermouse (sorry but its awsome) and Animals fo Farthing Wood, which is actually good bcos its friggin bloodthirsty

  • @227060 omg that used to be on most mornings on tv wheni was a kid and i bloody hated it! lol

  • @johninator95 What was?

  • @227060 Well . . . my apologies, then. Those latter filling ones have to be more worthwile than . . . this.

  • @LinkSOB If u like animals and drop ur preconceptions Animals fo Farthing Wood is a charming show. It has an environmental message but that is more a plot device than anything, u r more concerned with the characetrs and they r brave enough 2 retire and more freq kill them off. This was a tea time kids show with cute little animals were u ran the real risk of 1 of the characters dying and breaking ur heart

  • @227060 Fair enough. This cartoon doesn't make me think ANY less of the Britain -- just the cartoon itself.

You guys are hands down up there with 007 and Dr. Who, IMO. And I'm sure there's more there.

  • @LinkSOB well u yanks aren't too bad urself. btwnthe 2 of us and the Japanese we OWN the sci-fi and fantasy market

  • @LinkSOB just curious....what is your last name? i wonder how much you hate your own ethnic group

  • @tristanauspride 1st, where and how do you get off asking such a question when what you're quoting was purely of a historical basis? Before the integration of non-English non-Teutonic peoples of ANY RACE became part of Great Britain?

Otherwise, take the underground NeoNazi baseball bat outta your wide recieving 50 in asshole and behave like a real Aussie -- if you are one.

  • @LinkSOB ur a tool im merely trying to establish that you most likely have english heritage therefore bagging out britain is stupid...as for calling me an 'aussie'...i dont consider myself one as australia is for the aborigines

  • @tristanauspride I think its a bit past that now. thats like saying America and Canada are for the native American Indian tribes or Britian is for any1 whose ancestors WEREN'T raped by whoever the hell felt like invading. yes the past s dark murky and bad, but in this modern day and age u gotta co-exist

  • @tristanauspride I think its a bit past that now. thats like saying America and Canada are for the native American Indian tribes or Britian is for any1 whose ancestors WEREN'T raped by whoever the hell felt like invading. yes the past s dark murky and bad, but in this modern day and age u gotta co-exist. Also if the guy has British ancestry, it doesn't make him culturally British, at leadt not entirly. Eg I have Greek Cypriot roots but consider myself more cult Brit tho keeping Cypriot aspects

  • @LinkSOB I think what you don't understand is that this cartoon was a parody of American superhero cartoons - it did not take itself seriously. I was a kid back then and even then I understood that.

  • @cultmama That's the inside joke that I don't (more like didn't) have the chance to get.

Besides I wasn't around (back then) and you should understand that. And let's be honest here -- even if I did understand it being an inside joke, I'd still go by what I've posted firstly after seeing some of this vid.

And I honestly understand defending such a . . . caricature if it was the only representation of patrioitism for you homeland at the time (I hope not).

  • @LinkSOB R u american? just asking. U see the Brits aren't really patriotic, not outwardly anyways. its weird, if u r outwardly patriotic u r associated with the British Nationalist Party and therefore r a racist. we have more national pride in the little things like the BBC, Dr Who, fish and chips, Only Fools and Horses, red buses...and complaining

  • @227060 Yes, I am American, heheh. And these things you're telling me are kinda peeling over what I didn't know were the deeper thoughts of Brits . . . er, Britons as you like to be called.

I mean, for instance -- and what I can't for the life of me get my head around -- is that you're a RACIST if you associate yourself in particular with and NO LESS an official party in Parliament?

I have to shake my head on that one, buddy. And I'm not patronizing you either -- neither your comrades.

  • @LinkSOB Britons, British, Brits, whatever. Its not like its one fo the 3 main parties. Its 1 of the prices we pay for living in a democracy with free speech, some ppl have horrible things 2 say. But the BNP r apparrently opposed to immigration, which EVERYONE understands to really mean they r racists, honestly the N mite as well stand 4 Nazi. If u wikipedia them ull understand the connotations. but ppl assume things about u not what party u align urself with in ANY country u reside

  • @227060 From what your telling me about the BNP and it's views on immigration -- that's not something that I'd agree with if the issue was based on race . . . possibly sympathize if the issue is about the immigrants not wanting to learn the English language.

But, I digress and see if get more info about stuff like this.

  • @LinkSOB needless to say ppl in Britain are quite disgfusted with the, (those who aren't witht hem anyways). one member took some1 2 court 4 alleged slander and the judge threw the case out bcos he felt the guys's allegations were justified.

  • @227060 . . . Hmmm. I mean I can see the perspective of the judge's angle -- but if the plaintiff wasn't actually a racist. . .

  • @LinkSOB well he wudn't come out and admit it, who wud? But it was well documented and every1 knew...kinda like how every1 knew W. Bush didin't actually win the 2000 elec

  • @227060 It was well documented that the guy was vocal of being discriminatory of people that weren't a race of his own? Is this what your meaning? Otherwise, my point is that if a person looks ambigious about certain things -- that doesn't automatically mean that you could peg them to be exactly one thing or the other without the correlation of some kind of proof, ya get me?

And all I'll say about the 2000 election is that it could of been the other way around -- unending stuff.

  • @LinkSOB yes I understand, but he beliefs were quite clear. I don't know what u mean about the other way around do u mean Gore cudda messed with the results

  • @cultmama I didn't know that this show was racist though. ^_~

  • @LinkSOB ur gay i think

  • @tristanauspride What?

. . . Er, if I take for greatness in having the Superfriends and He-Man as examples of what I have here born and bred in America in comparison and you say that -- all I'll say is that I don't do anything that involves the use of a banana and/or it's emphasis for what you and your male relations use vicariously for added recreation for every Bananaman sighting you have.

Now, I guess that would be normal for you and pretty sky blue gay all the same.

    Me. Not. Want.

  • @LinkSOB I preferred Justice League

  • @227060 Heheh, that's awesome. I was born in the late '80's (1987 here) and I'm saying that in part to clear up any confusion from me mentioning anything of Superfriends and He-Man debuting earlier.

Otherwise, you live in a country that has connections Teutonically to some particular people that live IMO vicariously through your homeland in its influence on virtually every damn country in existence.

There -- now none of the Queen's peeps can say I HATE England/GB and its people.

    Hah!

  • @LinkSOB Queen's peeps? Never heard us called that b4, TBH opinion of her vaires. Some ppl say she shud have a bigger role in things, most ppl say we shud get rid of her. I say we keep her around, she just part of tradition....once she kicks the bucket tho screw her heirs. Most UK TV is dominated by US shows so I think we pretty much share most of our pop culture altho Brits get the adv of our own pop cult along with yours

  • @227060 Don't take the Queen's peep comment seriously -- I kinda made it up to how you still have the English Monarchy and all going on. Otherwise, from the outside looking in -- it just wouldn't look right of England/UK not having a King/Queen. If that ever did occur, IMO your country would just be a much more shrunken version of the USA -- guaranteed that you were around like a big brother before.

Though it's weird that that big brother was the one that created you and all.

  • @LinkSOB I don't understand ur comments about a big brother. While we have adopted many Americanisms our governmental set up and pop cult is different enough that we cudn't b a second America

  • @227060 Alright: Older Brother -- England; The Younger -- USA.

    That cleared up for you?

  • @LinkSOB That clears it up...except "Though it's weird that that big brother was the one that created you and all.". I didn't quite get that

  • @227060 To explain, I'll say that in one way that England/UK was like the Father/Mother to the USA being that the original 13 colonies (that would become the starts to where the USA is at present) were all the products (like offspring) from England.

. . . Yeah, it can get turned on its head at times. Hope that cleared your confusion on that regard.

  • @LinkSOB I guess so, tho I loled at ur 'at present bit' as if u guys were planning upon getting a few more states or something

  • @227060 "I guess so, tho I loled at ur 'at present bit' as if u guys were planning upon getting a few more states or something"

  • @LinkSOB Oh God...is the Uk ur 51st state???? b honest am I American and didn't even know it?

  • @227060 . . . Fortunately for your people -- the US is too shot up in a particular war and fugged up economy-wise to do anything but send our big guns (weightier tourists) over to graze over what the latest delicacies are in your country thanks to . . .

    . . . . . Gordon Ramsey & Assoc.

If there comes a time where you have sudden severe food shortages -- look to the guy that was the cause of 5+ seasons of Hell's Kitchen. He shouldn't fall THAT FAR from the tree from -- LOOK OUT!

  • @LinkSOB Lol, I don't rate Ram,sey or any of the TV chefs anyways. 4 me there cudn't b anything more boring on TV than coookery progs, I mean i'd take Big Brother and Cricket over that any day (picking my poison)

  • @227060 Heheh, my thinking was that you were more likely a hardcore rubgy hooligan.

  • @LinkSOB Me. No, not at all. i'm middle class suburbs boy, I'll watch the footie (soccer) but thats it really. TBH I say I'm British, I'm a Brit citizen but I'm a 3rd Gen Greek Cypriot, my grandparetns (all 4) came 2 the UK yrs ago, so culturally I'm mostly eng but I've got bits of Greek Cypriot cult in there too. comes in handy if any1 bashes Britian I just switch 2 bing Greek and then visa versa...u knock Europe as a whole tho then I'm an hojnourary Malasian

  • @227060 . . . Well I could (I guess primarily) should added FOOTBALL (you guys had the name first) to your fandom.

Anyhow, that's quite some cool diversity in your bloodline. It's just kinda ironic how it's not much of a shock though when it's about the Greeks and their . . . long-lauded history known the world over.

Otherwise, I'm of Nigerian descent (through parentage) in comparison. Good stuff. When it comes to last names funnily enough -- Nigerian last names can blend in Japan.

  • @227060 I plan to visit my other ancestrial home in the future. Otherwise, with the Greek thing -- I meant something along the lines of "ok I've got Macedonian, but that side is messin' with my Roman blood, which in a three way mess with Gothic and Hun blood in me." Just take that as funny rambling.

And, particular languages side by side can be like that at certain times.

  • @LinkSOB Didin't the Romans come after the Greeks? I mean i know I personally have a bit of italian WAY back, but I don't think full Greeks from greece do.

  • @227060 .....I think it could have been mutual. Then again, the Romans did rip a the majority of things that contributed to what they've become in history from the Greeks.

  • @LinkSOB thats tru. they made roads, but cudn't have done it with out Greek mathematics. Also thier Gods werre identical albeit with differ names....they had bttr food tho

  • @227060 "....they had bttr food tho"

    *. . . And that's where it starts.*

  • @LinkSOB its tru tho. how many great Greek dishes can u name compared to Italian ones

  • @227060 I......

.....I'll get to you on that.

  • @LinkSOB cool

  • love this man cheers

  • Holy shit where did you even find this? Who the hell actually would still have this cartoon?

  • @Bastige56 You can actually get all 40 episodes on DVD!

  • bananaman is the best superhero parody ever

  • Why does DR. Gloom look like Hitler with glasses?

  • @OMGiTzJOE12 he looks like the love-child of Hitler and Ghandi

  • i loved that theme music when i was a kid and still do

  • haha havent seen thiss ince i was a kid

  • 4:51 which voice does bill oddie do?

  • dem brits and their cartoons!

  • wtf dr.gloom is hitler 2:04

  • ...who comes up with this shit ???

  • poison, more poison, even more poison HAAHHA 2:01

  • My names Erik.
