  • Love "Flat as a Pancake" But there self titled album "Head East" I think is my favorite.

  • Seen these guys with Ozark Mountain Daredevils at the Surf Ballroom Clear Lake Iowa 1976.

    great concert!!

  • oh, and i heard this on a major stereo system, the last :20 will blow you away.

  • It still has the clarity of modern tracks, and I can't believe this group never made it big. Enjoy awesome....

  • This song reminds me of 500 Miles by the Hooters. There's a bit of the same melody for a few seconds.

  • The vocalist singing the verses sounds kind of like Geddy Lee in my opinion.

  • @Xzonza1 Yeah, you're right about Geddy Lee, but I think at times he sounds even more like Vince Neil of Mötley Crüe.

  • I saw Head East at the Coliseum (RIP) in Benld, IL in the early '80s.

  • 1976, Springfield Missouris Shrine Mosque, good show

  • Fort Lauderdale 1979, maybe it was 1980, either way great show!

  • I dedicate this song to Steve Dodge...miss you!

  • @stlblair...Thanks for posting..Peace

  • my favorite head east song, saw em in K C back n 87 or so, hella a show, big boy in the over halls leads the band but he wasnt the lead singer, GREAT SHOW, thank you HEAD EASt>>>>>>>>>;)

  • back in the days when vinyl ruled!!!!!!!

  • A lost classic from the 70s... a wonderful song and beautifully played.

  • I was using the head in a little bar in Tulsa.Ok.Head east was playing there.Roger boyd was standing right next to me,I didnt know it till i got out of the bathroom.A friend of mine kevin canane said hi roger, and that totally blew me away.lol.Marshallmanwayne.

  • Why don't you guys and girls stop living in the past. Look at John the lead singer way back then, he's now singing about life! Check it out one day. God Bless.

  • I have been listening to this album for 30+ years. It never gets old.

  • Head East is still 1 of my favorite bands ever since i first herd them playing from my friends 8-track player in his basement. I think it had to have been 1977 or 1978 eirthr way i love this band!!

  • I loved this whole album. What a great song. These are the best memories.

  • John Schlitt---THE purest voice in rock-n-roll! Hands down. No contest. Still sounds as phenominal today. Check out his stellar pipes with Petra.

  • This is simply one of the best easy-going and peaceful songs you'll find. Highly underrated band, this song should have easily been at least a Top 40 hit back in its day. Excellent song in every respect; musicianship, lyrics, vocals, feel, you name it. Thanks for posting!

  • I've been lucky enofe to play music with a former drummer for Head East Steve Ricker played drumms for 2yrs in the 90's good times great band!!!

  • I play the music from the 60s and 70s for my children 13-11 and they love it.. :)

  • Man,...I love HEAD EAST! They're a very under rated band. They were just as good, (if not better than), REO SPEEDWAGON & STYX.

  • HEAD EAST---"LIKE WHERE? OK"

  • Videos and songs like this is what makes Youtube so great. It would be very difficult ot find this music anywhere unless you had the original. Flat as a pancake may have been the first LP I ever bought. I remember the kids playing this record at the first boy-girl birthday party when I was about 13. Great Memories!

  • @bizzyf It's easy to find much vintage music on iTunes as bands from the 70's and 80's want to keep earning royalties. Download "The Millennium Collection" from Head East and you will have exactly what you need.

  • I feel very fortunate to have lived my youth in this amazing era of rock n roll! This was my theme song in college and I'm dismayed at the lack of creativity in today's "rock" music. Simple lyrics sung with honesty accompanied by crisp, talented musicians is what makes a great song. Too bad music isn't performed this way anymore.

  • @kitten252 Oh I couldn't agree more!! Luv this older music, I wouldnt want to have grown up in todays world, & the shit music of today reflects todays society!

  • hey trixy shut up

  • Great song. Fire up a bong.

  • Why was Mike Sommerville so overlooked? Great guitar playing great song writing. Check out the song Nothing to lose from the fourth album. I still remember those shows from the 70's, this band could hold their own with the best of them.

  • Woke up early this Sunday morning, had to hear some Head East.

    I feel much bettter now!

  • Had the pleasure of seeing them with original lineup @ Palmer Field House Davenport, IA. i believe the year was 1977. Awesome show from an underappreiated band.

  • @macgolf610 I was there too, they played Palmer a few times.

  • @ptlpn1997 Not sure who opened for them maybe The Hounds but I do remember driving home 60 miles in very thick fog after the concert. Still have my live double album. Wish the entire 2 albums were available on CD instead of the condensed version out now.

  • I love that music can make us remember the past, but it also makes me so sad. Those WERE great times (Lake O the Pines 76 with AC and Pooh) Life was good!

  • Get this ALBUM in CD format NOW!

  • Never Been Any Reason gets all the airplay on oldies stations but this song was just as good, if not better and its become a forgotten oldie. Damn shame.

  • my wifes favorite song, we go see the band whenever they are close. Roger Boyd the only original member but they still rock.

  • Thanks for the note. Its definitely a feel good song, and my best memory of this band was that when I was in college at Illinois State they played a special Friday afternoon show as our entertainment committee had money left to spend and then purely on their own they hung around Friday night and walked on at a local bar for a surprise show...

  • @pilesovinyl I wanna know what happened at the surprise show!

  • Sorry but I only heard about it, wasn`t at the bar that night. What is amazing however was that the afternoon show at ISU also was a two act show and the "other" band just happened to be an up and coming act from Canada who were just getting recognized for their album 2112. Yes, it was Rush and they were amazing too...I know its hard to believe but Head East and Rush played Friday afternoon for ISU students, I`m sure as a stopover from St. Louis to Chicago or something, still hard to believe...

  • Great Tune and I Still have my Bic In the Air ..Thanx for the Tune !!!

  • Good song ,good memories

  • Amen. This song reminds me of the good times of the mid to late 70's with all my Army Buds in Germany. A special thanks to "Milt The Boat" to turning me on to these guys.

  • Damn.. Love this tune!!!

  • This song brings back a lot of GREAT times! This song was made when Rock & Roll was fun, not filled with anger like so much of it is today. You had a plan back in the 70's: good music, good beverages, and your best girl out on a forgotten road making "memories". I only wish the kids of today could realize what fun we had back then!!

  • AGREED Oh fuzzy one!

Oh, the soundtrack of our lives.

Greetings from the oil and gas fields of western Oklahoma!

  • @fuzzy834 It was fun then--but your plan had holes in it: DUIs, crashed cars in ditches, and unwanted pregnancies. It was fun though.

  • @fuzzy834 some of us have :)

  • @fuzzy834 I blame the babyboomers!!! They had all the fun and now their children are of age and they want them to be "safe". Cops dont let anyone unless you lived in a small town

  • @fuzzy834 Many memories for me also....

  • @fuzzy834 I couldnt agree MORE!! Very well said!! I wish I still had this album cover!!

  • @PoleHeatherNicole Fuzzy834 seems to be one of the few who " gets it ." You can tell who lived it back then and who didn't. Things were more clear cut and simpler back then.

  • @fuzzy834 EXACTLY!!!! It's that simple! NO B.S. back then, it's just the way things were.

  • @fuzzy834 Amen to that!! how true that was!! i wouldnt want to grow up in todays world at all!!

  • @fuzzy834

im 14 i realize how much fun you had and i wish i was there, nowadays its hard to have that "fun" when your parents did the same thing and know what your up to

  • @italion21 That's funny, italion21. They know all the tricks, huh? Well, it sounds like you've got the right spirit. You'll learn tricks of your own. Slainte.

  • @fuzzy834 im 18 man and i like rap and alot of old rock like head east i live in illinois and they allways play this stuff on kshe95 i grew up with it man and i dont like alot of angry stuff good vybes is allways the best man

  • @fuzzy834

I am with you!!! We had a BLAST!!

  • @fuzzy834...Sounds nice!

  • @fuzzy834 so well said. my mom passed away recently and I had to go "home" for the first time in 9 years but it made for alot of wonderfully vivid "flashbacks" and memories esp. hearing music like this! I don't even have to try cuz it all comes right back like it was yesterday just on the first notes of a song! Man those WERE some of the best days of my life!

  • @fuzzy834 AMEN!
