@TheHerbmon - i mostly agree with you except i did like ""Pyromania"". i was 14 when it came out. just hit me flush in the face, ya know. i can see it as a pop-rock cd now. but back in 1983 it slammed my head quite nicely. its important to me to remember those days they way they really were. love anna peace to ya bud.
Joe Elliot said he laughs when he hears his vocals on this, and On Through Night. I laugh at everything after this. His vocals are so gritty and real. He went pop on Pyromania, even though its still pretty good. Everything after that, he's a joke.

there first 4 or 5 albums were great, but i really think hands down high and dry is the best, this album just flat rocks from beginning to end and thank god the radio never got ahold of some of the best stuff they ever did,way too many nights drinking to oblivion and rocking to these guys, man great times in my life,so glad i had good music to be stupid too.
i seem to like High n dry the most out of all there albums, there some creepy weird emotion in the lyrics that seems to be one of kind, you dont see it as much on there main stream albums...
At a very young age they had a masterful knowledge of song structure. This reminds me of summer vacation bonging up in the living room listening to my parents kickin' stereo. Yes, I was ON summer vacation when this album had come out. The talent of the 80's will never go away, the crap today will be quickly forgotten. Long live TALENT..

i love def leppard, went to see them in concert when i was 13 years old, first concert, snuck backstage-in those days that was possible, but i looked about 10 years old and got chased out!
Are you serious man? Def Leppard sold out their original sound, the sound of ROCK N ROLL. They sold out their original fans to pursue the crap mainstream sound. Hysteria was a decent effort, but anything from Leppard after Steve's death means shit to me.
The true fans like early Def Leppard, where they were true to thier Rock n Roll roots.
@ultrachasersfan I think they sold out with Hysteria. Hysteria reminds me of the Black album by Metallica. Most peeps that didnt know who they were, now know. It made the diehards like us fucking cringe. I can still listen to the Black every once in awhile, but Hysteria makes me want to chew on a shotgun.
@Jamesesii thats ur opinion and u r entitled to it. Hysteria was the first album I heard by Def Leppard and it is a solid album IMO. They were changing their sound because of the era, and also to accomodate Rick Allen's ability to play. Rick himself said in an interview there is just some things he cannot play anymore. I love old Def Leppard as well, don't get me wrong, but I don't agree with you that Hysteria is a bad album
@deflepbabe Honestly, I feel bad calling this group out. Def Lep was such a huge part of my musical upbringing. But after hearing all of their previous music, Hysteria was basically hysterical. I sympathize with Rick and the accident. I really do. It was easy to move on to heavier bands like NIN after hearing one of my favorite bands go soft. Yes, Motley did the same thing with Theatre of Pain.... although they didnt need a one armed drummer to fuck themselves up. Love Rick Allen!!!
@Jamesesii yea I find there are all different kinds of Def Lep fans...hardcore (me) who like everything pretty much, Pre Hysteria, Post Hysteria..you name it...as for going towrds bands that were heavier, I never went towards NIN or any of that, too industrial sounding for me. As for newer music I do enjoy Avenge Sevenfold..solid band. Back to Def Lep, I will say it over and over...Mirror Mirro is an amazing song!
Why is everyone hating on the Albums after Pyromania?! Def Leppard may not have put out what you wanted but for real...they are too amazing to hate anything of there Rock! Enjoy the songs and albums that you enjoy, but dont hate on Def. They deserve better then hate. If yyour really a fan you wouldnt hate any of there shit, maybe dislike, but never hate!!
This album, is the best one I have ever listen to, My favorite Song Is: Mirror Mirror, If I may add, I was Cranking this song on a Good Sounding Stereo System in my Car, (Back in the Day) and I was so into this song, I Ran A Stop Sign and Got Pulled Over By Local Police OPS!! Goes to show I was not into driving I was so into this song ....LOL
@1288dallas who cares they went pop..i think they wrote some of the coolest catchiest hair metal era songs..they are legends man ..steve and phil are two amazing guitar legends as well..they wrote these insane solos so you gotta give them their dues..yeah i wanted them to stay hard as well but they got too rich to be angry anymore.
I finally bought this album. Talk about luck I found the only high 'n' dry album at best buy. Now I see how good this was back then in the 80's, this is definitly the best song off high 'n' dry.
Man this album fucking bad ass. All the songs rock, but i think this is the best of them all. Im gonna buy the album probably this week. ROCK ON! TAKE A LOOK INTO MY EYES!!
Shockingly great album. Stunning in it's abrasive hooks and synchronized guitar work. One of the best examples of heavy/metal/hard-rock that has ever been.
@trexx63 I agree completely. It is too bad some music can't be seen as great, it's like the forest for the trees type of thing. I don't think it's even close, that this is by far their best effort. Yet you never hear anything of it anymore. Oh well.
This album was amazing. Pyromania was awsome to. Really liked this band. To bad Joe elliot is a pussy and just wants to sing to 13 year old girls..... Fuck you Joe Elliot.
When steve Clark died they should of stopped. RIGHT THERE
@scratchpost I never even heard of him until I saw all the posts on youtube bashing him. Finally, out of curiosity, I looked up one of his songs on here and played it through. While not my style, certainly wasn't the worst I've heard. People should try simply NOT listening to bands/artists/songs they don't like and enjoy the music they do like.
@Jamcad01 that shows you know nothing about metal. def leppard was at the forefront of the second wave of british heavy metal for a few years. but they sold out, and then iron maiden took there place. this is as metal as it gets, it's just very old and not as heavy as the stuff to come out in the last 10 years
@Jamcad01 Again, where did you get that? The new wave of british heavy metal was metal with some hard rock influences yes but that doesn't make it straight hard rock. Also melodically, this song is closer to the more melodic side of metal than rock, though this album is more rock than On Through The Night which is the only straight metal album they have.
Thanx a million for this post for a bad ass tune !!! Sounds so great especially after hearing hip hop and rap for 9 months in prison for child support.
in gr9 and love it, is that strange?....expecially in todays society

this is one of the greatest metal bands of all time. and yes this is metal not hard rock
ihateschool778 1 year ago 4
@ihateschool778 No this is hard rock, Metal is just deep sounding with no catchy hooks or anything.
Jamcad01 1 year ago
@Jamcad01 that shows you know nothing about metal. def leppard was at the forefront of the second wave of british heavy metal for a few years. but they sold out, and then iron maiden took there place. this is as metal as it gets, it's just very old and not as heavy as the stuff to come out in the last 10 years
ihateschool778 1 year ago
@ihateschool778 When they say New wave of British Heavy Metal they also mean hard rock as well. Sigh
Jamcad01 1 year ago
@Jamcad01 Again, where did you get that? The new wave of british heavy metal was metal with some hard rock influences yes but that doesn't make it straight hard rock. Also melodically, this song is closer to the more melodic side of metal than rock, though this album is more rock than On Through The Night which is the only straight metal album they have.

@Jamcad01 Wow, I've never heard a more ignorant opinion of metal ever.
