Thanks for your comment. The fiberglass screen seems to be the key. It keeps the seeds separate from the burlap, which stays moist. Almost provides an air layer avoiding mold or decay.
Very nice idea! You're right, there is no hydroponic ebb and flow system that floods and drains every two hours without oversaturating the seeds. But with the use of a burlap it can help in keeping the seeds moist and steady inside the grow tray.
