Question, what would be the difference between using LED IR bulbs from ebay and making a rgeen flashlight out of red and blue colored filters? Same? or is it different?
@kingmaker121 I guess if you want a green flashlight. Infrared LED are not visible to the human eye. Only cameras can see them. So for Night Vision you'd only want to use Infrared LED
@rellik6904 how are you even going to say that, do you know what infared even is its a light that we cant see but some digital electronics can no one without the camera can see the light
I gotta say, looks somewhat bootleg but still very usable. I'm quite tempted to get that view finder just because of how it works. I'm not gonna remove my IR filter from my camera. Its very compact. My first reaction was like WTF, then it was like thats ingenious.
@MetalWolfAirsoft Make a picatinny mount for it, put it on your gun. That way you can use the focus crosshair on the camera as an actual crosshair, and be able to take it off during the day.
Excellent stuff, I like the way you think ;-). try a piece of black tube placed in between the IR leds to fit right down to the camera lens to stop the light shining back into the camera :-)
Pretty sweet set there. I'm working on a NVG that uses an old CRT viewfinder. It's nice because I'm hooking it up to my GoPro head mount and I can flip it away from my eye when I don't want to look through it.
But it's a very bad idea / construction fault, that the LEDs are showing up on the image of the camera! And your light source shouldn't be able to directly illuminate the camera either. Both thing f*cks up more or less the image you see in the viewfinder or the images you take.
@lxnader42 LEDs use barely any energy, hence the resistor for the 9V. doing it in parallel is much easier cuz with LEDs there one side is anode, the other is cathode....thats one thing he left out to mention in this video....if you reverse polarize and LED (light emmiting diode) it will become a LDD (light DETECTING Diode)....which how i thought he was building this in the first place but his version is a lot less complicated
you should remove the IR filter in front of the CMOS or CCD sensor ... (it's a blue colored film usually), hence you would gain a lot more sensibility at night ...
GreekGadgetGuru, this is from Alexander you have caught the eye of many of our kind. We would advise you to use your specialties to be what we would call a watcher. We protect areas from terror. We will find you unless you do your part. You did not receive this message. Your armor and weaponry are slighlty more advanced than my creations of the electric-bomb. You have weapons you have thought power.
You're greek? Shouldn't you be spending your time and money paying back your debt to your German Masrters instead of playing games or taking siesta all day long? FUCKING GREASEBALL LOSER!
@12togo34 Dude, It's called science and human eyes.
Unless someone else is suing the same technology they can not see ir light. It's impossible to do with human eyes. And your gonna have the scope to your face so people won't see the light from the camera display either.
I admire your efforts but why not use a flash bar and make a neat little box with the infrared diodes seperate and mount that with a hot shoe mount to the bar. As you didn't remove the cameras internal filter the same result is achieved and you still have a nice looking camera.
@brdane If you stare directly into the LED you can see a faint red, but it was still completely pitch black from my view. The IR light can't be seen by human eyes, only with the use of a camera where the IR filter has been removed. Some camera's have Night Shot mode which allows you to see the IR. Those are more expensive
I'm going to direct many of my subscribers to your channel for advice because the night vision i use for my UFO research is too expensive for most people and they really want to get into "Night Vision UFO Sky Watching"...!!!
@jinxmike It depends if its used or brand new. Most digital camera prices are getting cheaper because cell phone's are getting more advanced and with better cameras. So camera companies are lowering prices on less professional cameras to compete with cell phones.
Holy crap dude you have potential I made a air powered film canister launcher but nothing like the stuff you've built. I'm a huge fan! :) can you make a diagram to show the led circuit you built?
this is one of the things i really want to make, i play manhunt a lot, and sometimes we do it with airsoft too, this would help in both situations, maybe even mounth it up on my airsoft gun for a scope :D
@CaptJerico Unfortunately no, the IR filter has to be removed. Sorry. You'd be surprised how cheap a decent digital camera is these days. Especially if its used.
For your next project you should make a flamethrower you wear as a glove because another guy made one and your way better than him so it would be awesome
