  • Darth Vader Approves!

  • what a waste of time, where is the lamb sauce you dunky?

  • If we were sopose to eat that food than it seems pretty cancerous and full of radiation ???

  • Thumbs up for iKitchen

  • One can only think of so many possibilities, but this... won't do for chefs. As easy as preparations would be, there's not enough control.

  • looks amazing, so long cooking utensils. All they need now is a automatic wash cycle on it!

  • I love the way they draw some of the humans. My question would be "how do you flip something repeatedly so as to mix the food and spices, or flip an egg, if you cannot pick up the pan?" Still, some cool concepts. I wonder if any will make it to reality.

  • Certainly people in the future will think this is funny like when we watch "the future" in Fritz Lang's Metropolis

  • seems kinda impractical

  • im afraid of it turning evil

  • Fools its very possible to do what is shown in this video with current technology. It wouldn't be cheap or pretty, but it would work.

All you need is a flat surface made out of lots of individual pieces. If you want to make a bowl the pieces on the edge need to raise while the pieces in the center lower. Then the whole surface could be a computer controlled induction heating element heatig whats required.

Problem is if you move your 'bowl' you will spread food all over the surface

  • @memberHD not to mention the cleaning between said pieces XD

  • I suppose that this is computer-controlled, so then this will be programmable? e.g. cooking game.. or... heat game?

  • OMFG!!

  • btw how do the virtual pans and bowl hold oil or water? virtually? and it seems like the designers from elecrolux are planning on creating a touchscreen that heats up to hundreds of degrees...

  • in the future we shall eat virtual fish fried in a virtual pan! and the hunger will be virtually gone!

  • Realy impresive. The contemporary music is saying that real music sometimes is the silence so maybe in this case it suits perfectly.

  • But how will we flip pancakes in the future? :(

  • I Love to see Ironman cooking an owlet on this thing! WIN!

  • this is possible?

  • was für gequirlter quatsch, sorry....

  • was für gequirlter quatsch, sorry....

  • they already have something like this by designer zaha hadid u can actually order it from ernestomeda via LA or chicago, no idea how much it costs though

    watch?v=g1qx6pZt3V8

  • Looks like something out of a science-fiction movie

  • hi electrolux

  • LOL

  • People, this is a new "Concept" read the website "Imagine a kitchen that ..." everything starts with imagination, everything in this world has. Our grandparents cannot yet believe all we kids do with the internet, yet someone imagined it a while back and now we have something amazing. lets be less judgmental and just imagine more cool stuff like this! by the way, so Happy it is the swedes coming up with it :)

  • @jdloer

actually no- the internet was made and *then* a whole lot of people came up with uses for it. So innovation in that case did not spring from the imagination into reality, but rather in the reverse direction, as I suspect if often does. The question then bcomes; if someone did invent a surface with these qualities, what else would be being made, and what would the possible uses of these various items be? I suspect a stove-top would be the least of them.

  • no its 999 trillion stfu

  • I don't get it. What is it?

  • i wonder what kind of material can be molded like on command. And what about cleaning it? you moved the food with the malleable surface, but the grease is still there..

  • they are on drugs

  • @Minkiu

    they are on drugs(2)

  • wow. very futuristic vision

  • that´s awesome......i love it.... I WANT IT!!!!

  • HOLY SHIT THAT IS FUKIN SICK

  • them lying bastards are at it again ...

they did this to us at your age too...

where is my flying car and George Jetson high rise in the sky?

  • Has Electrolux made anything tangible that was worth a shit? this is a great video but cmon.....

  • Like they say - 'nothing sucks like Electrolux!'

Modern appliances = disposable plastic garbage.

  • This stuff just isn't doable, it's all fantasy.

  • Not remotely. What part of it is not doable?

It's basically an induction stove with multiple programmable magnets. A thin metallic layer on top of what's likely a layer of insulation, on top of a touch screen.

    Etc etc etc.

  • I'd like to know who's going to be among the first to try it and risk havign the surface misinterpret your hand as a piece of meat and start frying it.

  • @Gencoil like your mom

  • That was just uncalled for. Are you always this rude to people?

  • @Gencoil it was a compliment

  • I guess after cooking one just draws the plates on the surface and the whole thing becomes a dining table.

  • NO FREAKING WAY

  • i would be afraid of burning myself

and what if i am making a sauce or soup?

  • How would I deep/stir fry or do sphagetti on this? And what about flipping pancakes?

  • @bannol

You missed the part when the person "drew" the 2 circles and pushed bottom down it was raised to the surface at the same time. The tech would be cool to have. I'd use that to mod my car. To make a stir fry pan just "Pinch and Drag" the wall of pot\pan you want to create to where ever you need, up to whatever its max pan size would be. Pancakes are easy. Just draw the thermostat and make the whole thing a griddle! HA! Never let the machine win!

  • awesome!

  • I like the idea. Looks like the food is digital in this video as well. It would be great if you could cook real food into it. Potentially it could even automatically combine foods after cooking each separately.

  • Accidentally touch the wrong button and the pan flattens out and your food goes everywhere. I think about going raw when people think that this is useful. What if you have cookware that stack cooks. This can't do that

I hate to snap you back to reality. But when you go to move all your groceries. The only thing that will move will be the rim. The food will stay in place. Maybe be jostled a little by the rim as it moves away from what it was containing but basically it will stay in one place

  • @krrrruptidsoless The surface underneath the food will move when you move the whole thing. It will be magic. (It doesn't actually exist so I don't need to explain how it would work)

  • If it gets made you don't have to use it; you can keep your shitty pots and pans.

  • Call me old fashion, but this is just weird. I'll stick to the traditional route, thank you very much.

  • I'm not saying this concept will become reality just as airplanes and such, just that who knows where technology will take us in another 40 years. Look where its taken us.

  • So now I have to draw all of my cookware before I can use it?

  • fuck this 999 trillion dollar thing, my stove hasnt failed me yet

  • lol!

  • @russianruski It's 999 trillion dollars and 99 cents. Get the facts straight.

  • This is presented as fantasy, dont take it so seriously folks.

  • Yeah, terrific -- apart from the fact that NONE of the technologies depicted have a n y basis in actual science -- its just terrific.

  • Where is the sound?????

  • why wuld u want sound

  • @zefem because he wants to hear what the aliens talk and sound like. . .. .

  • I want to know what they are saying and how this stove really works! Youtube Please fix the sound!

  • Give me a cast iron skillet and a gas stove any day, thankyouverymuch.

  • is that eve possible to magicly make a bowl on somthing metal, then heats up?......THEN MOVE THEM!

  • @darkkristian22 physically speaking impossible!

  • @darkkristian22 I'm thinking nano technology.

  • @darkkristian22 Depends on the source of the heat. Assuming it is a polymer and not metal as well. If you can head/cool a surface quickly and efficiently then you could in theory do such a thing.

  • Heart of the Home? Like the pic at the end trying to sell it as a way to be close to family? Marketers are Pathetic in their exploits...... Anyone who " cooks' loves an open fire stove and would never go for such a gadget. Hey Electrolax.... want to have heart? Use your Billions of dollars to help feed some of the millions of starving people in the world.

  • that looks way to complicated even for a 15 year old like me and i dont even cook. I'll just stick to a orinigal oven. I know that this is a kewl, futuristic, and etc. But i think it's superfluous, should we be more concern about the economy or what ever people are complaining about now.

  • Okay, you guys are of very low intelligence, and I actually have some points to make. If the whole thing is a touch screen, then how does the high heat not affect it? Also, if the temperature controls are right next to the "pot" or whatever the raised circle which you're cooking the food is in, then does it have a high heat absorbency so your hand doesnt get burned? And also, I'd like to know what kind of material it's made of that has that level of morphing ability...

  • Virtual Stoves; Virtual Food...Virtually thin People???

  • looks pretty cool but I'm still a little iffy on the whole thing :/ .... but mittu66 made a good point....how would you transfer liquids from the stove to a plate?? The touchscreen computer on the side of the stove is definitely something we could see on today's stoves though, which would be pretty cool.

  • ELECTRO DUMB

  • Seems cool.

Also seems incredibly impossible to accomplish.

  • @Upup2211

It was impossible for the world to be round, impossible to go into space, impossible to survive the common cold, impossible to fly! This is science my friend, there is no impossible!

  • lol what a joke and wheres my flying cars

  • Sound is OFF

  • In the future, you eat out off your stove! Mmmm 400 degrees! Tastes just like real fire!

  • imagine how awesome it would be to cook with a stove like that. i dont know about soup though

  • I'll wait for Electrolux to expand into bedroom furniture. I am buying my 2050 bed from them for sure.

  • Apparently, in the future, Dan Quayle's spelling of "potatoe" will be correct.

  • Can't really flip or shake the food on the pan or drain water/oil... imposes a lot of limitations on cooking. Nice concept though.

  • @otherworldy They said the stove would become obsolete, not pots and pans. I think you would use pans on this, for your tossing and flipping. And oil drainage, sounds like that could be done easily by adding the feature of a spout at the push of a button. May be even more efficient.

  • Pliable surface? What kind of material will do that? Something from Mars?

    Interesting no less...

  • Dude. I want one.

  • can't wait, this is a great concept, but one thing for sure food which is cook in a real fire taste good and better...

  • good f-in luck electrolux, might want to shoot down some alien spacecraft to help you with the shape shifting digital readout, hot surface materials area.

  • its an autopsy table, ironing board, and a stove all in one sweet I can't wait!!

  • In the future there will be no audio.

  • the future sure looks gray.. old times were better... even better than today

  • A few things still in question; storage space for needed tools (IE: lids, knives, steam baskets), clean-up from raw meats (unsanitary), How to cook pasta and drain water?, Do you prep foods on surface? What about stains and odors?, Grease fire friendly?? I really like the concept but it has many bugs to work out and questions to think through.

  • Formed like an ironing board, for her pleasure.

  • That is the win for the day.

  • WTF is this

  • F world hunger I need one of those.

  • finally a x-mas gift for my wife which I also would want for myself. that looks awesome. I´m not so sure about the intimacy. when I cook I like to be alone in the kitchen. not even this product will change that. I just hope when this hits the market the retail price wont be too expensive, because that looks like something many would like.

  • The mock up pictures of people enjoying themselves at are simply hilarious. I love the "intimacy" part! WTF, how will you pour? This solves nothing really! you still have to serve on to plates, wash them, yada yada yada! Though you may not have pans, you still have to clean the cooking surface ! USELESS ! (unless you are looking for "intimacy" )

  • oh yeah... one more 'gain... Weren't we supposed to have flying cars by now too?

  • What do you think all the UFO's are! The Government said. "F civilians, we got flying cars! George!" :-p

  • wouldn't just putin ur hands on it trigger something on accident too?... Just another thought... That crap's not happening in this lifetime

  • Well, you would think that, but think about this. Why are you just putting your hands on something that is suppose to be a stove? Also, it would probably work like a phone, push hold and then move. Or whatever.

  • WOW that looks so imaginative but so way out of reach... I mean what substance could you use that warps to contour to what ever shape you need constantly like that. looks lik it could be more a problem than a solution... I'm stickin t my dishes, crackheads...

  • woooow wenn kommt das auf den marct????

  • I guess nothing needs to be poured from pans in the future.

  • Sheer fantasy. Stupid.

  • 囧!

  • Well, looks like vaporware. A few of these things are at least physically unrealistic.

  • Yeah they always promise us these cool future things & never give them to us, but I do think this is cool because the boring regular stove just plain out sucks. I would love to have something that looked like a Cylon From (Battlestar Galactica). I'm ready for my cybernetic civilization bring it on Cyborg's let's group & take the human out. Cool Concept!

  • anyone can imagine, lets see them actually do half the things they say here

  • what if i can't cook? does that mean i'm still fucked or will this replace the kunt that escaped out the kitchen window?

  • hmm, interesting. i'm quite interested how this will turn out in the future..could be revolutionary, probably will be..still, so many questions, but hey, it's still a concept

  • i love this concept!.... But there's one fundamental flaw... once the food is cooked e.g. chicken curry, how would you transfer this liquidy/ sauce based foody from the table cooker to a serving dish?... i mean its not like a pan, in the sense that you can just pick it up and pour/tip it into a dish...

  • Serving dish?... how terribly mundane. Just draw splitting lines across the "pan" with your finger (don't forget your burn kit) to portion up the dish and then slide the "bowls" over to your guests.

  • the thing i think will be hardest to accomplish is the sliding the hot stuff around, the material needs to cooldown preeeety quickly so you dont burn your finges. the sliding things around while cold should be a pice of cake compared to that.

  • there is already a cooking material that goes from cooking to room temperature in less than a second.... the fluidity is the challenge i think

  • for any number of reasons, you naysayers should probably keep your mouths shut. the sorts of things they're doing with next-gen materials these days are pretty amazing. no one's claiming this will be on the market next year... but it's still a pretty awesome concept, some of which we might see sooner than later.

  • 1:22 ...Water see through.. futuristic

  • @forgottenirony Whatever will they think of next? Invisible air?!

  • xD that would be impossible... invisible air xDD

  • just imagen if you fell on it .... itd burn you like a basterd

  • so you're saying that if you fell on a today oven, it wouldn't burn you?

  • then dont trip over

  • Yeah, this looks feasible, especially the whole "sliding things around" nonsense. It is physically impossible to do that without a big ol mess. Sorry, this concept is far too Jetsons for us to take seriously, like a concept car that has no wheels.

  • How do you clean the "pots"?

  • make them flat and wipe them...was that hard?

  • Does this material actually exist in any form at the moment?

It seems most of the slides were taken up with aspirational marketing crapola

  • And then you burn your fingers...

  • it'll never work
