why people worship Segovia ,like he is good playr,? no he cant play well! at the same time we have people like Augustin Barrios(amaizin guitarist and composer),but stilll people say Segovie-the father of the guitar!!
@di6na apperently u know nothing about the history of how the guitar became so popular or even accpeted as an classical instrument...it was all thanks to segovia travelling through countries playing the guitar. If it wasn't for him there wouldn't even exist any electric guitar! And segovia doesnt play well?? u shuold probably turn up the volume next time u listen to him and if that doesnt help then you're deaf!
@di6na And you can play better? Shut your mouth unless you have a video to show us doing a better job yourself. Barrios played with steel strings! Sure he was an awesome composer, but seriously, your comparing apples to oranges.
@di6naBarrios was an amazing guitarist but as a composer he was not the total package.
I think if Barrios was concentrating in playing classical music(not his own semi folk boring stuff )and maybe if he had arranged classical works, such as Scarlatti's Rameau's Handel's etc, he would have definitely offered a much better job to the guitar. The guitar is played by many but Segovia brought the classical music to the guitar ,this is why we call him the father of the CLASSICAL guitar .End of story.
@DavidFriedliMusic why do you have to mention fucking bieber? does this even have to do something with him? stop making such stupid comments. bieber has never even heard of andreas segovia so give it a rest
@vukstevanic you know what irony is? i'm sure bieber has never heard about real musicians.. and not understanding these kind of sentences is not really a prove of maturity, you know?
What a beautiful edition of this song... so short, flows so well, and only kept the most amazing parts. I'd almost rather play this than the whole 4 minute song =D
@Sadtreesong, @instrumentogitano why do you say you laugh when you see this? because he's not playing it super clean or he displays no virtuose?
I myself think that for an old man like himself was in this video, to still carry the passion of performing is a beautiful. Yes, it wasn't clean, the sound... eh... not so great. But he loved the guitar and for over 1 century he did his best to promote it.
I think this is part of a movie. It was not from aconcert or something. It's from a documentary. I think it's from Song of the Guitar. It is not full but it is very beautiful. Someday, I hope to play this piece and I will use his interpretation to influence me.
Suerte.
Name them. I can, perhaps, think of some who reach him, faintly, now and again with a piece or two but not consistently. Who do you know that suprasses him for beauty of tone, virtuosity, sensitive interpretation, and this on each and every piece played, each and every single time. Who? As a classical guitarist, I am very very interested. Who? If you do not like his music, I must say I am puzzled as to how anyone can say that his music wasn't beautifully played.
My classical guitar instructor, Jose Salazar, took a master class with Segovia and said Segovia had to play wider necked guitars later because his fingers were becoming swelled when he became older
I was stating that as a HISTORICAL FACT, not as an INSULT! Make sure you know what you're talking about first before posting negative comments. I have nothing but respect for the memory of Andres Segovia, especially considering we share the same last name.
It was you, but perhaps I misunderstood your comment. It appeared you thought I was insulting Andres Segovia and replied that I'm miniscule in comparison to Segovia's legend. Well actually I am, but just wanted to clarify that I meant no disrespect to the master. Anyway peace to you and all other Segovia fans.
XD Sry, it's probably due my complete lack of linguisticy! ;) I'm Norwegian.. And i just thought that it was AWESOME that someone like me had the chance to converse with someone whom has a small indirect relation to Andrés Segovia! ;)
Oh, btw. I'm writing an article about Andrés Segovia at school.. I'm supposed to hand it in before 23:59 today! Wish me Luck, and parhaps i will write an article in Norwegian on Wikipedia too! ;)

Segovia's tone is the best. Most guitarists nowadays play like a midi player (robotic).

Segovia plays the guitar with a special sound that comes from being taught by god himself. this is what segovia said and i believe him.

There are many players who can play much better than Segovia. I can appreciate his accomplishments but I've never been a fan of his music
