I live in SC and that bill didn't stand a snowballs chance in hell. Our Republican controlled state house laughed that bill to it's fiery death. Some jerkwater libecrat proposed that just for kicks. South Carolina has some of the best laws in the country. A law abiding cirizen can carry a loaded handgun in their car without a permit/license.

Marking ammo is the stupidest thing ive ever heard of. If im "marked" as owner of ammunition ive purchased, and i shoot that ammo at a range. What whould stop someone from picking up those marked shells and reloading them to commit crime? Then im to blame for the crime?

I suggest that everytime a bill is overturned that is a direct or indirect violation of our rights then the people pushing the bill should be held personally accountable for the financial loss incured to promote these bills.

I think we all know it won't work just as the drug enforcement is a joke. What this will allow is another step closer to a police state. It still wouldn't match the registered guns of the owner, so the owner of the ammo could use his coded ammo in a stolen gun and say it wasn't him! He could say someone must have stolen my ammo from a range. The ammo would match the owner but to no guns he possessed. I think this law would cause many problems?

Rumor or not, it's still something we need to be on guard for. It's another possible bill that could limit the people rights and therefore needs to be defeated if and when it's introduced. It does nothing to help the people and does nothing to stop crime.

With the administration we have coming into power, and our President-elect's track record w/ firearms laws, there is a number of bills that could be put in place limiting the ability of people to purchase firearms/ammunition or making it a potential liability to do so. Even if this happens to be a proposed idea from some third party corporation, there are many more bills w/ similar intentions to watch out for.

Sorry dude, but you've been duped. The "Ammunition Accountability Act" website is nothing more than a marketing website by the company who made the technology. That "legislation" on the website is merely sample legislation (poorly written at that) that has not been introduced in any state legislature. They've been trying for a couple years (i.e. this rumor isn't new), but they have gotten nowhere. Unfortunately, people like you keep spreading this rumor. Stop it! IT IS NOT TRUE!!!

It is hard to believe we are really going down this path.The bill that is being pushed in 18 states requires all ammunition to be encoded by the manufacture, providing a data base of all Ammunition sales. So they will know how much you buy and what calibers. Nobody can sell any ammunition after June 30, 2009 unless the ammunition is coded.Any privately held uncoded ammunition must be destroyed by July 1, 2011. (Including hand loaded ammo.)
