St. Paddy's in the U.S. is not a public holiday. In Chicago we celebrate the weekend before March 17th so that more people can see the parade. In NYC they celebrate on the actual day. It seems to be becoming a bigger festivity every year with more costumes, decorations and bigger crowds.
Hey mike, thanks, and by the way you have an amazing site, what a collection!! Have you had any problems from YouTube silencing any of your videos? They sure have been a pain to me.
Hope we get the same beautiful weather. Looked like everybody was having a great time, but you just know it's going to rain in here in Donegal!...LOL!!!
lee, where does everyone go for the parade? we have two of them here, the one downtown on Saturday then the one on the Southside on Sunday, always have the parades here on the weekend before St. Pats now so more people can go...
The same practice has started here in Ireland the last few years as well, with parades in local villages and towns being held a few days (Or maybe even a week) earlier so that people get to celebrate in their local area rather than congregating in the bigger towns!... I agree with ljped by the way, I think America does Saint Patrick's day way better than we do in Ireland.
Do Americans get a public holiday for paddys day? we all get the day off here in ireland.
Paddys day in dublin is actually like a warzone full of drunken revellers!!!

I think St Patrick's Day is a bigger event in the USA than it is here in Ireland (though we have been catching up in recent years!).
Happy St Paddy's Day - great video.
