It's probably salt from the sea water. When it rains here (in panama city, fl), the wind can cause the saltwater to spray. Happens all the time... If you're really curious, taste it.
This sure looks bad for plants and crops, this is cordexit eating the chrome it is eating boat hulls and bp claims this is safe don't need hazard suits to clean this oil up why are there so many getting sick, if it is rainbow effects you can collect samples from the car have it tested for toxins or poisons bet you do have everywhere on the ground and now in water systems you drink from. people are going to continue to get sick cordexit is deadly crap have water checked too
i live n north al7/18/2010.. its suppose 2 rain.. i hope it doesnt. . same stuff on my car .. holes n discoloration on plants n trees... 5 out of 30 kids 5 r sick n the day care i us.. kids countinous cough n chest pains .. doct said" its just a cold going around " i think its the air and n now the fumes/gases n it corexit.. its a shame.. god bless.. thanx 4 ur video i will share..
The first picture was obviously nicotine and smoke residue from the smoker in the suv and the second video looks like dirty highway residue after a brief rain. Just my opinion
It rained in Los Angeles recently. I hear that fish in lakes in Canada are dying from the chemicals in the vapors that evaporated in the Gulf. I wonder if the same thing is happening here...
What you need to do is find someone with an outdoor fish pond and keep an eye on the health of the fish after each rainfall. Certain chemicals in Corexit are toxic to fish in amounts greater than 25 parts per million so if there is Corexit in the atmosphere it will start to kill off all aquatic life as it travels inward to land. Take a sample from a fish pond after the next rain fall and have it analyzed.
wow that is crazy, I know that because of the amount of methane, octane, benzene and VOC that are evaporating of of the spill it will contribute greatly to acid rain and global warming. this may be what your seeing, is rain with a very high amount of acid in it or anyone of the chemicals have you notice any difference in the vegetation around your neighborhood???? btw good video.
@56kCanadian Thanks... I've been watching the Elephant Ears next to my driveway and they seem happy. We just came off of a dry spell, so actually the grass looks greener now than it has in months. I haven't looked at the plants or grass up close but my general impression is the plants are all doing fine.
Wife washed her car.. it's looking back to normal now. Definitely her car had dust on it from the area she parks but I looked at a lot of cars today around town and many have the same streaking water spots as my truck and her car. If there is anything to all of this, many other people will also notice it. For example, Lousiana has had days of storms coming in direclty off the Gulf of Mexico, so there would have to be similar problems documented there.
I should think it would be possible to collect some of that residue and have it analyzed. If I lived there and saw that "whatever-it-is" collecting on surfaces around me...I would want to find out what it was. :( Highly suspicious. Possibly related to the dispersant?
Wonder how that would test in a simple chemical test against regular bottled water ,say a PH tests or a simple over the counter drug test ,point being would there be a drastic differance in reaction ?
Good job stay out of the rain. WHERE IS THE NEWS PEOPLE ON THIS? WHY ARE THEY NOT REPORTING IT? HEY CNN THIS IS A GREAT WAY TO GET YOUR RATINGS UP. SO STOP COVERING FOR BP THE AMOUNT OF $ THEY PROMISED YOU IS NOT WORTH IT.
IF this stuff is related to the spill, it would have to be some by-product of the Corexit/Crude mixture or Corexit alone. Hopefully it's nothing to do with the spill at all, but I have no idea how to test for Corexit other than some sort of lab analysis. I'm about to upload a video showing the fluorescence of hydrocarbons though!

I've seen rain like that when a huge grass fire was near my area.

it's freakin dust in the air. I'm no BP apologist but I do know that the sun does not posses the ability to evaporate oil. Come on now.

How do we tell if there is any Corexit in this water?
If its raining oil/corexit then you should probably get out of there!
