FYI, the sequence of the 7 headstands has been taught differently for quite some time. It begins with the "tripod" headstand, then the 2 extended arm versions. (Mukta Hasta) These 3 are followed by the 4 that this video starts with. (Baddha Hasta)
In the Ashtanga system, the transition between each is to literally drop down into chaturanga and take 1/2 vinyasa, then come to kneeling from downward dog, and go on to the next.
An excellent presentation. what differentiates this from other demonstrations is that it uses, diagrams (top view) which enables the viewer to better undertand the exact position of the head & hand.
Great info! I'll be teaching some of this stuff soon. Also, it's refreshing to see commentary about ashtanga without the dogma usually associated with it. Thank you very much.
in mysore now the open headstands are done before the bound headstands (the last three go first) also there should be a full vinyasa between each headstand to relieve pressure on the neck...
Yoga is not something u just do. Like looking at a picture and copy it. It takes concentration, knowledge of your body and can never be done in a competitive way or to show off. When its all done with caution, go ahead and follow the yoga path...namasté!
You should read the complete information the author has posted about the Video. She says that she is not a Yoga master or teacher. To me it seems that she is sharing the various types of headstands and the correct positioning. She is not going into the Vinyasa's between each or what postures to do before the Shirsasana (Headstand).
With practice I hope to conquer my fear and know that it is mind over matter...

I hope she will be ok later in life. You can see some shaking and tension when she goes into postures.
