I work for a non-profit conservation organization in Kodiak and we showcase some of the best footage taken in Kodiak through a film festival fundraiser. Tubgear SETS faster than snap gear,,as long as its coiled properly..but if 1 hook catches a loop..it all goes out in a ball so its a fuckin pain to deal with when ya haul back,, plus,, if a tide rip snarls the groundline .same shit,,.. as for snapgear.. its easier to fix by unsnapping the gangions as opposed to beckets ,,saves alot of time if yur runnin 20 or 30 skates of gear and 1200 hooks per skate. I fished Halibut and blackcod for 15 yrs on the BC. coast,. worked both gear types
I like this video. I'm going to try to do something similar this year. I work on the F/V Gulf Winds. We just fish crab out west. I used to do a lot of long lining out of Kodiak though.
