The attempt to keep the groups of protesters apart was one of the stupidest and most provocative pieces of policing that raised the temperature early on. What was the logic in it? Next up was the more aggressive police line down Threadneedle Street and, once that was finally broken, the attack on the bank by a handful of activists. Stupid - without police provocation and proper police protection of the bank (let alone someone having the sense to board the windows) it would have been different.
