I forget the exact explanation, but for some reason when you are directly on the ground, you will hardly feel a mild earthquake. That's why there wasn't much of a reaction from the players. The higher up, the more aftershocks.

lucky you guys got it in the afternoon us here in california earthquakes alwayse happens durring the night usually waken our asses up at between1 and 5 am in the fucken morning. Think how scary is that shit waken up half asleep and seeing the whole house shake in the dark while shit is falling down.

Not quite the same as the pre-game show of Game 3 of the 1989 World Series, where Al Michaels went hysterical, while Tim McCarver remained calm. However, I don't blame the announcer for reacting like that either. Been through one quake myself, a 4.3 magnitude quake in Webster, NY in Spring 1973 while in school, and yes it get my attention.
