I kinda do want math to die a very painful death. Me and the other math-haters in my class decided to hang up a dartboard (is it called that?) with a picture of math on it and let our frustration out on math. I really try to understand math. It just allways twists around and stops being logical when I need it to be logical. My handwriting actually changes. You can see if I have understood it or not. If it's like hieroglyphs I'm worlds from being best friends with math.
I dislike math, but I can do it fairly successfully, which is nice. This is because I had a mathematician mom who started trying to teach me basic algebra in second grade. (Yeah. I know.)
I have never really been a big fan of math. I am more of the artsy type, but recently I have found a new appreciation for it. I like that no matter what you do, you can always find an answer by using the same method. Like that is crazy to me that any formulas and tricks work for every problem in the world. That's what I love about math, because I think it is the only thing like it....
Not that I am a whiz at math or grammar, but I believe they are calling "graphing" calculators. Technically they show images, also known as graphs, but that's what I was always raised to say. It just caught my attention in the doobly-do (description box) so I thought I would share....
I'm a Math major in college right now. I tutor many students in math and I completely understand what you're saying. For me, if I learn an equation and the proof of how to solve said equation then I'm good. I love knowing how to do Math. But there are many people who quite honestly don't get math and that's why it is such a hassle for them. I give you credit for writing though. I love to read, but when it comes to writing it takes me forever to come up with something!
aw math is beautiful. If you have ever had the feeling of awe at a tricky solution to a puzzle - that's what math is about. It's just really purified, so will look dry on the surface to most of us. You'll also like it if you love neatness and order.
the common denominator of our problems is maths.... maths books should see a pyshcaitrist.... they have a lot of problems.. and i need to buy a dictionary to learn how to spell
I agree 100% with everything you just said. Especially the stumbling through the dark and anxiety. XD Math makes me feel so lost. I've been getting my boyfriend to teach me more though, starting with extreme basics, and it's slowly getting a little less panic-inducing.
Math is fun once you understand it and, despite my favourite lessons being History and English, there's nothing like the feeling you get when you actually understand an equation or sum etc :)
...And then you forget it when the actual exam comes around...
I am a writer but I honestly loved math. Math was always my best subject in school and if the whole writing thing doesn't work out I would love to be a math teacher.
Know the feeling! Plus I just got a job where I have to use some slightly-higher than basic Maths all the time and when I discovered this I did have a bit of a mini freak out :S
I thought my high school math teachers ruined me for advanced math for life, luckily my college math teacher was much nicer and taught in a way that was interesting and included pumpkins and gave chocolate out during tests. I think everyone needs to have a little chocolate whenever they're faced with math.
I remember learning that the circumference was pi times the radius times two.
I'm still confused as to why we did the whole doubley radius thing. Why, education, why?
That is one of those things that makes me think I would like math if I hadn't been taught badly. I like math in some other contexts, like that one YouTube channel with the elephants or The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.
The formula for the circumference of a circle is pi-twice-radius. Which is the same as saying pi-diameter, since the diameter is the length from one end of a circle to the other, and the radius is half that length.
@TheCoryKid I know. That's why I was so confused. I kept wondering why we couldn't just skip over two radius and just put in diameter. THERE'S NO NEED FOR THAT MIDDLEMAN.
I'm not one of those people. If I hate something at one point in time, I assume if I try it again later I might like it.
And I never understood math, but it wasn't out of me not liking it and not wanting to (at least in late high school/college) it was because I just... did not compute. Luckily I have a bunch of math nerd friends that helped me through! :)
I'm the same way and I would have no idea how to get the circumference of a circle! Last semester we were doing simple fractions, decimals, and some other crap that I know cannot remember and I thought I was going to have a breakdown because I kept getting EVERYTHING confused. Me and Math need some counseling.
Omg i forgot i forgot about circumference and stuff, and i only got a D in maths so i might have to go back and relearn if its part of my uni requirements :(
Pie is yummy. . . . The only math I did in school was counting how many minutes were left until the class was over. I'd stare at the wall clock and watch the seconds tick by. Tick tick tick tick tick tick tick. :) Mmmm, pie.
i've never really had that problem with math. i dont particularly enjoy it, but i'm fairly good at it and can usually figure out most math problems needed in day-to-day life. however, i do have the same problem with remember how to find circumference, area, diameter... all that horrible geometry stuff xP

Because to get into the shcool I want, I need to improve my grade in math!
I have always hated math! I never understood it! But I hope that this year will at improve my grade .... if only a little :P

d = 2r, therefore:
π2r = πd = c
