Sorry, I don't think that you understand the meaning of the word HUB.

A hub is the center where many things meet up.

Think of a hubcap. It is at the center of the wheel.

The city of Boston is called, The Hub because all roads lead into it like the spokes on a wheel.

A single card reader therefore is NOT a USB hub.

A USB a is a device which you plug into a single USB port which then multiplies the amount of usable ports. Ususally at least 4 ports.

That would be always be called a card reader.... also these days you can usually just use a standard mini-usb cable without needing any software and it's much more compact and versitile than a card reader.

A hub allows multiple USB devices to be plugged in, however you do share bandwidth of the one USB port that the hub plugs into.
