@217d3 Nope, I was set on getting a roland kit but I researched hard for six months while I saved up the money and the 2box is in a different league. I played them both side by side in a store and the 2box sounded better and was around a third the price. Sure it may not look as fancy but for playability and sounds they aren't comparable. Plus I actually like the orange look when in the flesh, although I was pretty sceptical at first.
@SuperDrummerJoe The felt will create greater friction against the meshhead, a rug burn effect if you will, and deminish the life of the head signifigantly.
@0Nolan, roland is awesome, great quality, but hav u seen alesis? alesis is pretty decent, in my opinion, im getting an e-drum kit too, and i've been looking at the alesis dm10 studio kit, roland let's u tune/muffle the pads, but there is not much expandability, u can only add 1 more pad/cymbal, the alesis let's you split most of the triggers, so u can add more pads/cymbals, it can't tune the pads, but has a huge amount of sounds so u chose the best sounding, and theres user kits too
@gibson00000000000000 I had a Alesis DM5 pro kit with surge cymbals, but I have to be honest Roland is WAY better. Alesis is very loud; you can almost buy a real drumkit if it's about the noise it makes. also, compared to Roland, its actually really cheap quality and its getting old really quick (little holes in the pads from your drumsticks, cymbals are getting ugly and dirty). I have a roland td-6v with VH11 hihat and more, and its awesome. Alesis is better for beginners to my opinion.
@0Nolan, yeah, thanks, how'd u get the td-6? i was planning to get the alesis dm10 studio kit cuz of my tight budget, i was going to get either the alesis dm10 studio kit, or the roland td-4? any thoughts, im deciding on which 1 2 get. If roland lets u split the tirggering for the td-4, i would get, cuz im gonna expand the electronic drum kit, could i split any triggering for more pads/cymbals on the td-4? anyway thanks, any thoughts about it would help
@gibson00000000000000 I bought it used, but it wasn't used actually because the guy only used the module 1 or 2 times.
Well there is a cable, the Roland PCS-31 Cable, where you can split dual zone to two mono zone. but, if you're a beginner, I can also recommend the alesis dm10 studio kit, because it's a great kit for beginners. if your getting better and your budget bigger you can always buy a roland kit in the future.
@0Nolan, so can u split the triggers on a td-4? and i've been playing for at least 3 years, so i'd consider myself an intermediate, so can u split the triggers? thank you, please reply
@gibson00000000000000 I bought the TD-6v used, but it wasn't used because the guy only used the module a few times
Well actually I'm not sure, I know I have 2 inputs on my TD-6v module where I can use the pcs-31 cable but I don't know on the TD-4.
Well, you can always look at used roland drum kits, but if you're intermediate I think you are going to regret the alesis very soon. I'm not sure because I never had that specific kit but I would't take the guess. btw, ebay has cheap kits too!
@gibson00000000000000 technically all of the inputs let you split, but you need to keep track of which trigger is the rim and which is the head to make it work. but all triggers except the kick trigger and hi-hat control will allow you to use separate pads if you know what you're doing.
@Edgefactor627 wait, so i can split the triggers on the roland td-9s? cuz i've been asking that question everywhere, and no one really knows, so can i?
@gibson00000000000000 i dont know how the TD-9 handles triggers, but on my TD-20 you can change the head of the drum and the rim of the drum differently, so in theory you can split the trigger with a cable and then set up the pad accordingly
@0Nolan , so can u split the triggers on the roland td-4? if it could, i'd get it, but can the triggers be split? and how'd u get the td-6, haven't seen it in a long time
Hey there i'm thinking seriously abt buying this fantastic kit... im playing drums from 3 years now and i wanna improve into the electric scene... This kit seems to be what i'm searching... i just wanted to know a thing.. this is registered on a PC right? can anyone tell me how it would be with two 150W amplifiers? do u listen the noise of plastic? Thx for reply...
Hi, to record I would suggest you record to your computer with an audio interface and a software. With amps you always loose quality, to play live you use amps, for recording go with what I've said above.
With enough amp you're not going to hear the sound of the pads at all. They are fairly quiet to be honest unless you are hitting them really hard. It's the main reason I went electronic over acoustic. We have a rather small house and an acoustic set is just not practical due to the noise. But really there's no reason to amp it. Just get a high quality set of over the ear headphones and you can hear everything just fine.
You can connect to your PC via line in if that's what you mean. The heads are not made of plastic and not very loud a you can just use headphones to cancel out any of the small noise you may hear. Personally I like to hear what I am hitting at least a tiny bit, but that's just me
I just looked out the window, looks like theres a rocknroll storm blowin in.

@gibson00000000000000 I don't know how it works but I have on the back of my module 2 inputs with tom 2/aux en tom3/tom4. you can see that on google.
Yamaha has good drum kits too, but if you want a yamaha you should really buy one with a virtual hihat because it gives you a more realistic feel.
I'd really look on ebay if I were you. It's really cheap there. I hope that helped.
