  • DudE! This is so COOL and you are so CRAZY! Well done!

  • I don't know what to say. This is THE ART AT IT'S BEST!!!

  • I love you so much right now.

  • Two questions:

    1. Are you a music major?

    2. When will this be on itunes?

  • Care to tell which mic's you used for this? i saw it had been asked before but couldnt find an answer. :)

  • @Imoldenoff It's a couple of Røde NT6.

  • @DSSessionVideos Thank you that was exactly the question I was going to ask.. I've been looking for some good small mics for sampling.

  • so clean

  • Laughed a lot, fantastic idea - just brilliant!!

  • AWSOME MAN

  • La ritmica ti libera!!!!

  • That's pretty cool...

  • oh my goodness this is awesome! but how crazy can you be to have this idea xp

  • This is so damn gooood! This would fit perfectly in a videogame where you jump around in a forest or something, hehehe :D

  • i didnt know that trees could jam too

  • Neighbors-oh look he thinks his tree is a violin again.

  • beautiful stuff!

  • Perfect...

    Very creative, I like it.

But i hope it wasn't harmed!

    :))

  • Did you use Garage Band to mix in?

  • It must have been hard to make the music. P.S. I LOVE BONSAI TREES!!!!!!

  • This is, indeed, really, really cool. It'd be interesting to see what could be done with some electronic distortion of these organic sounds. Keep up the good work!

  • if he made this track with a fleshlight i would be impressed

  • From the thumbnail it looks like you are sawing the tree down! Lol.

  • too good!

  • that bass bow was all bent out of shape! it should be bending inwards, not out! Sorry, but that just irked me to see.

  • AWESOOOMENESSS

  • Mysterybonsaiman

  • Amazing!!!!!!! Music truly can come from the smallest things!! :))

  • this is the strangest thing I have ever seen....

  • In the jungle, the miiiiiighty jungle....

  • ......HOW MAN, HOW!

  • Another interesting tree sampling technique to try with contact mics is to record the tree growing over a period of time. Really interesting sounds.

  • I would totally buy an album. :)

  • pobre bonsai :p

    great music :D

  • it was so frustrating waiting for a snare!!!!!!!!!

  • Mystery Guitar man dislikes this

  • @gastefan Why?

  • wellll done!

  • Wow! I never thought that a bonsai could be so musical!! Excelent! Congrats!

  • This is amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I favorited it !

  • how are you not famous!?

  • Mr. Miyagi would be proud of your bonsai skill.

  • I fear the Bonsai was harmed.

  • For who claims it hurts trees... Really? Are you serious????

  • Awesome, my favorite part was the leaf plucking sounds like custom drums.

  • Awesome c:

  • Hey, you stole my name! Haha just kidding, you can't help last names

  • I love this idea!!! :) Very well done! :)

  • awesome sounds like a band

  • awesome

  • haha sicck!

  • Hey, I know this guy! Spectrasonics!

  • I can only imagine the looks he would have gotten if somebody else showed up

  • Thank you all for your comments guys! : )

Just a couple of notes: I love nature, I truly do, and the act of playing the Bonsai is not even remotely an act of violence against it. Trees are very strong, they don't die when the wind or rain shake their branches, they can stand hours under the sun, and yet they manage to become some of the biggest living organisms in nature.

My Bonsai is still alive and probably would enjoy knowing that it gained some notoriety! : )

  • @DSSessionVideos I love your view of nature! That in itself is beautiful :)

  • That just proves music is EVERYWHERE.

  • your earned yourself a like, favorite, and subscription!

  • i have a bonsia tree.... but i have no idea how i would do thissssssssss..............

  • That was just fun to watch. And it was really interesting finding out what kinds of sounds you can make with a bonsai tree.

  • Genius. Just. Genius.

  • Man, this amazing. It reminds me of Stomp

  • 1:23 sounds like a kiss hehe

  • Wooowww!

  • SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSUSCRIBED.

    .....bonsai!

  • no trees were harmed in this video

  • That was GREAT and nice! did I mention it was NICE!!!

  • NO BONZAI TREES WERE HURT IN THE MAKING OF THIS FILM!

    [ :

  • lol I like the sound the bows made on the tree!

  • You should team-up with the Vegetable Orchestra!!!

  • I hope that wasn't a one trained by a master bonsai guy though---100 years to create, costing upwards of 2K........

  • Amazing amazing video!! Thanks for sharing. Awesome music.

  • You have a tree music gift. Very nice. I love it.

  • mic in the stereocope , thats new!

  • That's amazing! This is so cool!

  • I am a hipster douchebag and think you should stop harming that poor tree! xD

Srsly now, good stuff! Love it how you experiment with sound, it is the essence of the progression of music!

  • Amazing!!!

  • That got complicated there towards the end! Very cool and creative!

  • i find it impressive that you did actual performance takes with the bonsai instead of making a sound once and sampling it throughout.

  • this music calms me down so much i dont know why

  • I'm about to go outside and make a whole track just using an "OAK TREE" & a pack of Pampers from Walmart. :-) Creativity to the Max !

  • That was magical.

  • EPPIC

  • Awesome

  • Wow, that was... Interesting. Although the rubber noises made my ears explode, but hey, I'm sometimes waaay too oversensitive to noises.

  • 1:04 "me? i'm just brushing my bonsai tree."

  • Man - that is awesome. You are really talented and creative. Keep up the good work - I have shown this video to all my office workers - they all adore it.

  • Sick. Don't know how you came up with that idea, but it works beautifully. Keep going!

  • NO WAY! Great stuff Diego! I can't stop listening.

  • why does it feel like im playing banjo kazooie four seasons spring...

  • awesome!!!

  • those are some powerful mics. this is amazing!! how'd you think of this??

  • AWESOME!

  • Very cool stuff, made me think of kids shows where they have all abstract music. Congrats on being featured!

    -FT

  • Now I've seen everything.

  • Bonsai parent would be so proud

  • This is awesome... not only is your "instrument" hilarious but this actually sounds good.

  • Most cool!

  • Madly impressive. Now I have proof that everyday sounds can be musical. My friends never believed me. I mean, all sounds have a frequency, so technically they can produce a note. Also, the only difference is that a lot of sounds just produce different sound waves. Smacking two rocks together will produce a note (much like your leaves here), but it will be hard to discern because the soundwave is more sporadic than consistent, which is why most people think it's not a true "note".

  • amazing :D

  • hy diego what kind of mics and preamps did u use ?

    thanks in advance

  • This is cool. It shows how divine sound can be found anywhere.

  • Brilliant!

Although I do agree that bonsai are very, very delicate (i"ve had 3 over the years) and something like this might affect it greatly.

  • I saw this on my iGoogle page!

  • It's nice to know there are still people out there who dare to dream and dare to think outside the box! I loved it!

  • I haven't smiled like this since music concrete class!

    You prove several interesting points:

1- rhythm is the fundamental element of music.

    2- Every physical object resonates

3- Resonances can be combined in rhythm to make music

Your creative microphones techniques hear things outside the realm of normal human hearing. This makes me ponder what insects and other animals hear.

You have an intuitive talent for composition too!

These videos and this music are addictive!

    More please! ;-)

  • That is brilliant!!!!

  • awesome beats

  • Amazing!!

  • This is awesome, but bonsais are very delicate and fickle, and I hope it wasn't harmed!

  • @twotwentyfouram It wasn't harmed, I love nature! : )

  • @DSSessionVideos WOW!!! I just logged up today and decided to just look at the featured offerings. Usually they offer ...not much I want to see, but WOW!! • @twotwentyfouram are you guys kidding me, how could any of that have 'harmed' the tree in any way.

  • This is an awesome video. B-R-I-L-L-I-A-N-T!

  • This is some serious musical dedication! Thumbs up!

    "Bonzai trees."

  • Okay, i think i'm in love with this guy now.

  • I just had the worst day and this just made me smile! Thank you!

  • This really reminds me of the music used in Nintendo's Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, when you're in the Goron villiage. A really, really cool tribal feel to this one.

  • U R D AMAZING MAN...!

    AWESOME>>> (^_^)

  • Hey Diego,

I think Music from a Tree, Bonsai and Sand would've made awesome soundtracks for a film like avatar (obviously with a little more melodic input and editing...maybe with a Zimmer collaboration like in Sherlock Holmes)....

as your tracks really emphasize a instinctual connection with nature...and that is the most basic underlying theme in Avatar.

Thanks for the eye-opening techniques...you really do bring the music out of nature.

  • congratulazioni, impressionante!

  • sei spettacolare

  • You're a genius. Ever thought of playing CDs? I really mean playing CDs, as if they were an instrument. I know you built some amazing instruments already, so why not try and use old CDs to make new sounds and songs? It might be stupid, but I'm pretty sure you could make something awesome out of it.

  • HAHAH! Genius Diego :)

  • i didn`t know that bonsai can sing!

  • I'm in love,

  • this can be so bad and so good at the same time. hahaha

  • ur sick :D

  • that bonsai must be happy.... xD Human contact is good for them it stimulates growth and what not.

  • Dude that's awsome! It should have been longer. I want to see you play a pile of rocks, water and a rattle snake, together. And maybe a Toyota Prius, cause that's all they're good for.

  • *giggle*

    more happies... fanx

I get cd - play in barn for goatsies... *snerk* that should be the fun!!

  • I didn't know Jap Boxwood made such fine sounds, this is incredible to see and hear from a artistic standpoint, and a new twist for Bonsai fans. WIsh I had more hands so I could give this 4 thumbs up!
