  • just got back into it, havin lots of fun :D

still suck at making detailed scenarios

  • They werent enough supressing Scotts and Irish so they went tens of thousands of miles away from home.

  • Infantry!!!

  • Lol the song called 'charge of the light brigade' dur

  • the song is so gay

  • Comment removed

  • @joshua12345a your a queer

  • you could use the you tube 2 mp3 thing to get the song

  • This games was miles ahead of the other games at that time

I wish they would make a new version of it

  • does anybody know the name of the song?

  • RUSSIANS FTW!!!!!!!!

  • this is real world opinion not from this game but the both r pretty much the same calvary was good during medevil ages where they trampled but wen the got to the gunpowder and they changed thier whole strategy even light infintary can take out calvary they just stood in a line and fire wen they get close enough to rake all those troops out i think they r pretty useless then lol tats just my opinion on them not fact

  • that went better than than the real battle lol

  • what is the song??

  • well that went better then the real battle.

  • name of the song?

  • Is the game in 3D or really good 2D?

  • @jerkakame All of the buildings are in 2D, yet the combat and economic units are in 3D. Most of the time you don't even notice the buildings are 2D though, which is pretty cool.

  • @jerkakame it's in 3D aspect

  • why dosent OP simply post the song, he must have it...

if he didnt die by now

  • Вот вас "великих англичан"опустил мой прадед)))Не фиг соваться на чужую землю!Не одна страна Россию Великую не одолеет!))

  • convert it to audio from this video

  • nice sound :)

  • can someone help me get this song? how can i find it?

  • @mathodious i know the name, its The Three D's - Charge of the light Brigade, but the song itself i couldnt find on the internet.. when i find it i will let you know by a pm and post it on here for everyone else :)

  • the song is by a band called (the three Ds )

  • Love the song. I wish I could find the song.

  • @LilDP Not sure if this help, but... Type into yahoo search:

the 3 d's charge of the light brigade. click on phoenix records link. There is a sample, same as this, and lyrics. It was hard to find.

  • @Kurplutzo This helps a lot actually. Thanks.

  • @Kurplutzo Actually you can hardly say 'lyrics'. This is Sir Alfred Lord Tennyson's poem, entitled "Charge of The Light Brigade".

  • @stridingshadow sorry man. I slept through high and am now using this game as an eduacational tool.

  • @Kurplutzo I don't know, if your comment is ironic, and actually I've no idea whether "The Charge of The Light Brigade" is routinely studied in high schools in UK or USA, because I've never studied in any of these countries. If somehow you got offended, it wasn't my point.

  • @stridingshadow Not at all. Happy Thanksgiving if you celebrate it. Cheers!

  • @Kurplutzo

Ain't that the truth. I learned so much more about the Civil War and the Napoleonic Wars by playing video games.

  • you know, this wasnt bad, i would also be too lazy to make 5600 soldiers. on top of that, think of the extreme amount of lag youd get from all those soldiers in one map!

  • I really did like this game. I however hate it when artillery is useless. Artillery could tear whole charges to shreds and i was disapointed at the uselessness of cannons (except when attacking buildings.) That being said i love how they made advantages for defending river crossings and flanking and such. I played that game all the way till 2008. This was a great movie btw.

  • who,s the song by ...

  • rise of nations, good game, very realistic for its time

  • i love the songs

  • i would say that the charge of the light brigade was actually, not a mistake, but a resounding succes, it's a proven fact that cavalry are nto a defensive force, as it was the light brigade charged through the wing of the russian army, killing many, then SOME MADE IT BACK, the russians morale is gone, if they'd defended and the russians had attacked, they would have been lsaughtered to a man

  • yes, but did you see the amount of brave troops we lost?! All the cavalrymen that day had rifles, if they had dismounted and fought by defending, we could have won with much less losses if we defended well. Our troops were superior to theirs. And all those men were lost because of a in-experienced toff officer who sent them out without checking what was happening. Such a waste of lives.

  • it was more a matter of how the cavalry was misused that day and the preceeding days which made it a colossal blunder. If a song was dedicated to how much of a screw up it had been so long ago then rest assured it was a colossal misuse of cavalry for the time.

  • how do put ur guys into square's of armies

  • i dont no y u think this is bad i couldn't do better!

  • Crude maybe, but it doesn't suck! A pretty cool illustration of a legendary battle, nice work.

  • Who's the artist of this song?

  • really good video i want this song!

  • not so sean...the five regiments of the light brigade not only got to the guns they over-ran them and scattered the astonished russian hussars supporting the guns...they then cut their way back through the blocking cav sent to destroy them.. the best accounts list 110 killed, 120 wounded but returning safely, and 32 wounded taken prisoner...about 75 percent survived and returned to duty..

  • these cannons were melted and the metal is used for the Victoria cross the highest military honour for the commonwealth countries

  • This is a little inaccurate because pretty much everyone in the light brigade died before they reached the russian cannons

  • Awsome movie. How did you Zoom in so far? and you should amke one on the war of 1816.

  • cheat insert + number unit + name unit + color..... =.=

  • Just downl.....bought the game. Now I want to play as russian.

  • Hehe. Me too...

  • Nevermind. It said The Three D's at the end.

  • that music is awsome where did you get it

  • How can you makes those guys stand in such "square" formation ?

  • who sings this song its so amazing

  • It sounds like Gordon Lightfoot, but I could be wrong. I'll have to look it up.

  • hi eddy! it is your cuz! skunicycle! look at my videos please! Your videos are very cool. my brother thinks so too. Bye

  • Please make Pickett's charge, thank you :D

  • Just another thing to make me want to buy this game. I think Rise of Nations would be much better than the sequel.

  • It is 5 times better than rise of legends, but I doubt you can find it :/

  • Can you make another vid but this time its 600 British Soldiers and 6000 Russian soldiers

and also can you make a vid about Seven Years' War, war between Prussia and Russia

  • good music!!!!

  • This is good it's in my head!!!

  • This game is: Rise Of Nations

  • nice vid and good song

  • what game is this

  • lol it says in the name it's Rise of Nations

  • THE BRITISH RUN SHIT ON THIS GAME

  • Oh I can see it now. Just perfect.

  • Perfect. But the Russian cannons were on hills.

  • there were actually more like 700 men in the light brigade.

  • pretty good.....RUSSIA ROCKS

  • The 600 faced soo much cannon fire yet they still reached the Russian line and slayed many before braving the fire once again to go home.

  • Balaclava was a time for crazy actions that shouldn't have worked. The Light Brigade charged the Russian Army, the Campbell's Highlanders stood against Cossacks when he should have retreated. After repulsing the Cavalry some of his Higlanders then wanted to go and charge the Russian Cossacks.

  • The heavy brigade charged the same day against a Russian Heavy Cavalry corps, uphill, and drove them back.

  • ...after the Russian cavalery received the order to retreat.

  • how do you make them into formation of squares?

  • when and who did this song? didnt even know it excisted

  • the 3 D's - charge of the light brigade

its very rare on the internet, allthough the maker of this vid dled it on limewire.

  • hehehe! fun!

  • the song was like ****

  • The music is from the 3Ds, a 1960s folk group.

  • a decent cam

  • WTF were gonna use THAT song in a project hahahah....... it thought it be more sadder and morbid not happy killing people..... nice vid though....

  • dude where did u get the song..i like!!

and 1 thing how can u make a box formation for your units, i tried it several times but i can't make it..

is there any shortcut for it??

  • he got it from limewire

its called charge of the light brigade by

    the 3 d's

  • looks like a really fun game, cool video, i like the music alot

  • where did you get this song?

  • i think that this poem song is good, but the song the trooper by iron maiden would have amped it up a bit more..... good vid though =)

  • what's the song?

  • That is "The Charge of the Light Brigade" It is a poem by Alfred Lord Tenyson. I don't know who is singing this. This is one of my favorite poems though.

  • yes, same. its a wonderful poem. i studied it in english

  • i like it alot to

  • How do you do that in RoN?

  • What a pain. My brother borrowed this game from a friend, but we don't have an access code, so naturally we can't play it... And it looks sooo fun too!

Is it as hard as American Conquest? I've played those games, but they were a bit hard for me... I'm not good with RTS games, lol.

  • it very fun

  • whats the name of the song

  • good re enactment well done love song love battle keep it going and it doesnt need to be historically well gd job :)

  • you play RoN do you play online

  • I just build a huge number of highlanders and musketeers and march them in waves towards the city with artillary and supply wagons...

Then drive in with the carabineers and monarch to capture the town...

I love enlightenment military battles they are more fun and strategic, the more modern battles get old fast and are chaotic.

  • I don't multitask lol. Usually, I just bring soldiers, I can't be bothered to bring in artillery usually, with supply wagons and such.

  • This time last year I discovered RON for the first time and to this day I love it and still play. Does anybody know that if an Windows XP owner (myself) can play an opponent who is using Vista on their cpu

  • yeah, we do it all the time, but vista is so secure, the problem is installing it

  • yah i cant install RoN on vista thats why i use desktop instead

  • you can. You're right to question vista, but i just stopped playing RON to get on 'tube.

  • whats the music called?

  • whoa *turns on game to build horse army*

  • I'm curious as to how effective this tactic is. It's apparent that this tactic uses sheer number to overpower the enemy, but wouldn't be suicidal to face an equally large army of infantry?

  • why are there always nerds posting shit about military strategies on rise of nations vids?

people like head to head face to face fighting.

    end of story

  • It is a strategy game....Remove the strategy from Ron and all you get is clicking and AI taking on each other. Doesn't take a nerd to figure that out, but it does take a brain ^_^

  • Because "nerds" command the strong and stupid to fight for them.

  • Just to clarify, could anyone tell me if Rifles had become the main weapon used by the infantry by this time?

  • =S...of course!

    M-16, SIG, AK-47, Galil...

haven`t seen any army fighting with swords or spears since a long time ago..

  • You probably mean by the Crimean war (mid 1800s)? The answer is yes, muskets were widespread and the main weapon of foot soldiers. Melee weapons like sabres were often still used by cavalry though.

  • cavalry had revolvers and carbines also, but those were highly inaccurate, so the sabber was prefered.

Its also a light cavalry so there not higherly armed i suppose.

  • Yes...but they were still muzzle-loading.

  • I should have clarified. I was wondering if the Rifle had replaced the musket by this time.

  • that dosent looks like a little less 300

  • Those who don't know The Charge of the Light Brigade.

600 British cavalry charged into a valley with 3 hills all with Russian cannons. The British won with staggering losses. Out of 600 cavalry troops that charged, a little over 40 came back.

  • Actually a lot more came back. The total British casualties were about 300. Of those returning only 195 still had horses.

  • Nice Music...Lol

  • Does anyone know how to take screenshots?

  • The Charge of the Light Brigade

    by: Alfred, Lord Tennyson

    I think....

  • Uhm.. right... :P

  • that's the guy who wrote the poem, isn't it?

  • You can take screenshots by hitting the print screen button on your keyboard. I think you have to save it everytime in another program.

    Good video 5/5

  • If you stop the video and have a screen saver ... like on any common graphics programs like paint shop pro you can capture the image on the screen as a jpg or some other file ... you can also download free screen savers if you google it.

  • yea but the game is too easy u pass by a building and its your

god that music is amazing but i cant find any clip about it plz tell me where i can download it !!!!

  • yes, what song is it?

  • Cossacks would have been much better to work on :p

  • Cool video, well done.

  • For those interested: 666 riders took part: Killed - 110: Wounded/returned - 129: Wounded/captured 32: Total casualties - 271: Fatalities - 17%. Horses killed - 375 (56%). Honours: 7 Victoria Crosses (1 officer 5 troopers 1 surgeon): Valley of Death - 1.25 miles: Cavalry Regulations: Walk 4mph: Trot 8.5mph Gallop: 11mph. Charge flat out at speed of slowest horse. Gallop 250 yards from enemy: Charge at 50 yards. Ageing survivors appeared with Buffalo Bill 1903. Last survivor died 1927 aged 96.

  • I must correct you; 673 riders took part :) and casulties 360 men and 517 horses. Those are the numbers that I have heard

  • I hate to have to correct you, but it was actually 674.

...you see I forgot to sign the attendance sheet :P

  • damn you :D well, i think it doesn't matter what is the REAL number. let say it's between 660-680 ;)

  • what's the song?

  • lol this actually really helps me because in langauage, we r supposed to memerize that poem, and this puts a rhythm to it. thanks! lol

  • russians are the best

  • Humorous!!

  • Awesome!!!

  • Very well done!!

  • canon to the right of them

canon to the left of them

canon in front of them volleyed and thundered

stormed at with shot and shell

    boldly they rode and well

    into the mouth of hell

    rode the 600

    from memory lol

  • correction

    boldly they rode and well

    into the jaws of death

    into the mouth of hell

    rode the 600

  • man, i would love this is the song the trooper from iron maiden would be placedin the video as a background song

  • i think this is about all of light brigade...

and the trooper is about one man=command of light brigade....

  • KOSACK AND RUSSIAN REELED FROM THE SABRES STROKE how the f**k did they miss that line?Great animation though.

  • at the biggining wouldnt it have been a good idea for the british to form square?, just wondering

  • That doesn't really help in the game, and it was my feeble attempt at recreating the "thin red line."

  • Great video. :)

  • whats the name of this game and were can i get it

  • WTF is this?? lol!!! cool

  • im curious wich war was this battle in?

  • The Crimean War

  • british bayonet rifle men are my FAVE unit in the whole game, second is prolly the HUGE variety of cannons

  • are you taking the piss?

  • pretty cool but stopid muic

  • You daft moron, it's a song about the Light Brigade, learn your history you nitwit.

  • cool

  • Let's look at this again Borat. You barely speak English and have become deeply confused after watching a Channel Five documentary - not a good basis for considered analysis of the Battle of Balaclava is it? I'm not suggesting this is a perfect solution by any means, but the Wikipedia entry may help put you right to some extent. Failing that you might try the Ladybird book of Florence Nightingale - it has big writing and lots of pictures - you'll like it.

  • If you are going to say we "made shit up" you might as well accuse the right people -British not just English. Interestingly why would the British commanders get dragged before Parliament to explain their bizarre, suicidal charge if it were indeed carried out by the Turks?

  • What edition is this?

  • Gold Edition

  • there are supposed to be cannons on all 3 sides....and the british didn't win...although most of them survived...

  • There are cannon on all 3 sides. The charge destroyed a significant number of Russian cannons, collapsed the Russian center, allowed a French cavalry force to collapse the Russian right flank, and generally raised hell with the entire Russian army...sounds good to me.

  • I don't know what you've been reading (or smoking, for that matter)but the charge of the light brigade is generally regarded as a disaster. Only 195 men with horses reamined of the 600, they were never fired on from all 3 sides at once (it was in succession), it wasn't the russian center but their rear, and while the french did break through, the battle of balaklava ended in a draw, and the real heroes were the men of the 93rd higland regiment who repulsed the russian cavalry.

  • I've been reading "The Reason Why" and "Hell Riders" (and smoking non whacky tobacco). The charge is regarded as a disaster because William H. Russell reported the first casualty estimates which where high, Tennyson read Russell's report then wrote and published the poem portraying the charge as a disaster before Russell corrected his report.

  • I never said Balaklava was a victory, the charge threw the Russians into chaos and had Lord Raglan sent in the infantry, which had just arrived, they could have swept the Russians off. The charge itself was a success that gave the British an opportunity they didn't act on.

  • scorpion is gay and a noob

  • any1 play online? i do

{RIP}_DESTRUCTION_ hook me up well play som time

  • this song is hilarious

    anyway what is it called

  • terilble music but good video!

  • hey get rise of nations gold

  • What song is that?

  • i didn't like the song, the poem looses its dramaticness in that song. and why was it sung in an american accent?
