Aloha! Big Island Ukulele owner here. I just ran across this review and I did want to point out that you are so right about the bad eletronics. that model is one our our first and yes made in Indonesida but from around 3 years ago I stopped using them and have since improved greatly using ALL Fishman made in USA passive pickup with an optional Infinity Active Matrix Upgrade on some of our higher end models. check out our site for the various models. Mahalo!
Thank you very much for that information. I like electric ukes. I would not know how to run my RISA through a home theatre system.I am using a portable Dynatone, or my little Fender amp. What is needed?
Most home theater systems have a lot of inputs. Just match the output of your amp to the input of the home theater. For example just buy a 1/4 inch to RCA plug cable. You know one it looks like a guitar cable on one end and a split stereo plug that fits the R and Linputs of your home theater.
i have a solid wood electric uke with a Roland micro-cube...soooo much fun! fantastic instrument and much better build to your average electro acoustic. do you do instructional stuff?.loved your technique at the end of the vid
Good electronics usually come standard on ukes over $800. But if you can find one with FISHMAN or LR BAGGS go for it. Or just buy it sepparately and have it installed for about $200.
The tuning pegs are ebony. BTW, my wife Cali, has a Ko'olau M400 with LR Baggs pickup and it sounds great! Very, very natural plugged in or not. She plays 250+ gigs per year with it and it's worked in every venue.
Did you ever see the devil's duel in the movie "Crossroads"? If you win I'll wrap it up for you. But if I win I get your Koaloha tenor. But seriously you can have when I get tired of it. I'll get tired of it when a monkey flies out my butt! { ;-)'

I enjoyed the review very much esp the info about the electronics. Is there much difference in price point for the electronics?

After watching alot of your reviews I thought it wouldn't be so hard to make one of my own. I was wrong you just make it look so easy Ken.
