This Era soon b rememberd as legendary!!! just whait another 10 years, people is goin 2 talk about this, like talk about woodstock, Jimmy, and all of the greatest!.Great quality video, thanks alot!
How amazing would it have been if as they're all chanting "heaven let your light shone down" The clouds parted and beams of sunlight blasted everywhere?
Guess all the good cameramen died in the 70's--an accumulative 4 seconds on the guitarist during the entire solo?! And for what? A bunch of overhead shots of the crowd. What a load.
Looks a hell of a lot more peaceful then Woodstock '99. People were actually enjoying the music and were there to have fun. No bonfires or rape. Just pure peace and music =). LONG LIVE WOODSTOCK!
@92LovePeace Because Woodstock 94 was a bunch of peaceful high grunge kids of the original woodstock generation. Woodstock 99 was a bunch of nu-metal trash who came straight from the trailer park. Totally different.
i was in college in 94, i wanted to go to woodstock, but i was told NO! my mom and dad just didn't get it. and now as an adult, if my teen wanted to go to something like this, i would let them. i would follow, to make sure they were safe, i would keep my distance and blend in the best i could so they wouldn't be embarrased. i guess i am a cool mom in that department.
@sweetbettie2008 If your teen wanted to go to something like this hopefully they would realize how cool their Mom is and would want you to go with them. Peace and love to all!
This was on Friday night and it was really loud! It broke windows in the town. I sat my beer on the ground and the bass was so loud it was vibrating the ground to where my beer foamed up and turned over! Woodstock 94 was the greatest time of my life!!
This was on Friday night and it was really loud! It broke windows in the town. I sat my beer on the ground and the bass was so loud it was vibrating the ground to where my beer foamed up and turned over! Woodstock 94 was the greatest time of my life!!
@MrElechandsup post-grunge bands are ok, but the real grunge is where its at, and i dont mean nirvan(even though they r grunge, they r just over-played)
@MrElechandsup Grunge is dead man. When it was at it's pinnacle was with; Smashing Pumpkins; Temple of the Dog; Veruca Salt; The Gits; Bush; L7; Alice in Chains and STP!
Seriously good! That performance peaked the crowd no doubt. NY needs a massive party like that again asap. But it seems the industry people in mid town are far too lazy to make it happen. Maybe its the threat of the festival being over run and the business model failing that translates as too much of a risk? Proper organisation, a ticketing like Glastonbury, no more than $2 for water and $6 for a slice would mean as less resentment for the necessary evil of the corporate machine.
@jaguaron007 Yep, I was there too. Excellent festival. I'm putting toegther some pictures of the show to upload. I have some great pics of Shannon Hoone from the front row. I tokk a couple hundred pictures that weekend, lol... Great time..
@CosmikDebrisFZ yeah man igot a couple hundred pics too, more or less, most are from friday i put my camera away after friday nite, we got there thursday nite, came back monday noon, memories now iam an old dude
@jaguaron007 Yep, we got there Thursday too. I got some pics and there is hardly anyone there. We left during Peter Gabriels encore which was the last band performing as I'm sure you remember.
That shit is crazy that Collectiev Soul got the night show and Green Day had to perform in the afternoon. I wonder if the promoters would it seeing how both of this bands would evolve in the future... would that decision be the same way?
@bigbarcelona23 collective soul got the night slot on friday, which was only young, newer, modern rock bands(funny saying that about these guys huh? haha) and green day got a slot on saturday when the more popular, at the time, bands played. So count saturday afternoon as higher than friday night. But CS rules give them props!!
@katakana4991 Haha... I read this comment before I began watching the video and I died when the first close-up of him popped up on the screen.
Anyway, great performance, excellent solo (still my favorite solo of all-time). Not to sound gay but there was something cooler/more mysterious about Ed Roland back in '94 when he had long black hair and a raspier voice.
@cellophane96 There will never ever ever ever ever ever ever be a festival that will catch the atmosphere that Woodstock '94 caught!.............EVER!........... RIP Shannon ......."we need only close our eyes to hear your voice" brother!...CPLAZA4everBro
Man, I miss the 80's and 90's soooo fuckin much, I mean from 96 until today the music was slowly dying, now its complete SHIT...Its so depressing....I WANT IT BACK SO FREAKIN BAD!!!
I know the lead guitar player here....its Ross Childress. My old band used to play w/ him & his most recent band "Starfish & Coffee".....he's no longer w/ Collective. Definitely a great player....& a cool dude. Btw....I got to play that guitar in this vid! PRS!!!!
I remember coming home that night after a night out as a 16 year old kid and turning on the satalite dish and getting the actual live feed of this!! OMG I was in heaven!!! I remember this was the friday night set and watching all day Saturday and Sunday! God i miss the 90's :(
@royalnash I agree, we had livestock in florida and that was fucking sweet but they don't do it anymore but it was 2 days of drugs, sex and rock and roll.
@CPRCRRSC u might want to learn the definition of emo kid, his song is about learning, and growing. thats atleast what i get out of it. not all 90's bands were grunge.
Just heard that they are coming to a local summer festival in August. I can not wait. Collective Soul is one of my favorite bands of all time. Can't wait.
actually we need a woodstock soon as hell. i mean the world needs a fuckin woodstock. theres some shitty stuff going on. but theres also a lot of shitty bands so i don't know who would play.
actually theres alot of good bands who are still around that could play at a woodstock like: RHCP, Green Day, Foo Fighters, Collective Soul, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Jet, My Morning Jacket, sunny day real estate, Rancid, The Who, The Cure, radiohead, dropkick murphys, screeching weasel, seaweed, smashing pumpkins, dillinger four, dinasour jr, john frusciante, the flaming lips, the kooks, NOFX, the pixies, robert francis, sonic youth, gogol bordello, better than ezra, WAX and more.
Most of these bands that you're listing either effectively stopped playing, ain't worth a dime, got really old or passed their good years ages ago. Back then one would see all these amazing bands at their best, young and musically at their peak. I feel like weeping over the idea of seeing some of those giants today, old and spent, only to wait for them to play the crowd pleasers... NEED TIME MACHINE!
@zaludman I bet you have no idea who some of them even are and the who are oldy es but besides that it really all goes down to taste in music, and obviously you arent open minded to music. Cause all those bands I mentioned are amazing songwriters and great musicians still and in my mind their some of the best musician still around. (with out reasearching tell me one song by seaweed, robert francis, screeching weasel, gogol bordello, WAX and dillinger four)
Other Muscians and bands I forgot are paul westerberg, paul mccaurtney, REM, Pinhead Gunpowder, Violent soho, Iron and Wine(he would be kind of out a place at a woodstock but I this guy is just amazing, Jack Johnson, sublime with rome, the buzzcocks, bob forrest, ataxia, lou reed, snow patrol, system of a down(that would be cool if the ycould reunite), Incubus, the special goodness. Read my other comment and youll get what Im talking about,
i guess it shows the epicness and how the crowd reacts, i guess that isn't as bad when joe satriani does the solo in his alien song and the camera goes to stu hamm on bass...
I now listen to Cannibal Corpse, Slayer, Anal Cunt, Toxic Narcotic, C1B2, Screamerclauz... and just about any hyper violent music you can think of...
Looking at this video... how its over 14 years old... I can vaguely remember listening to the CD Collective when I was about 5. I am 21 years old now... Looking at this video... its like a warm memory of my early childhood... one of the few... these guys and The Presidents of the United States, lol. This is a band i need to see live asap. <3 the90s
One of the best live performances ever. These guys are still a excellent live band with a bunch of hit songs. But they are still very underrated and underapreciated. There new album "Rabbit" might be their best album since their first self-titled album from 1995. Back to the rock'n CS that I love!
Collective Soul has to be one of the greatest bands of all time and it hurts to watch this....this is beautiful....they sang alone to one of the most beautiful songs of all time. This really was togetherness and music. This was the Woodstock spirit! I cry watching it now. Something was missing from Woodstock'99...peace and beauty. We need another one where there really is peace and unity and music. Why not? Let's do it!
Cool, The PRS that Ross is playing is still around. he plays it at his local gigs. I took pics of it. It was beat up a bit from all the shows. It was very strange holding it in my hand. like a peice of history. Has great action. Anyways,He's a Great guy.

Looking at this video... its like a warm memory of my early childhood... one of the few... these guys and The Presidents of the United States, lol. This is a band i need to see live asap. <3 the90s

You seriously put Collective Soul in a reply with all that other crap you call music? That is blasphemy.

Why not? Let's do it!

i agree
woodstock 94 was close to the original woodstock. you dont hear about any violence or big problems that 99 had.
our generation needs to get its act together. we need unity right now more than anything

Cool, The PRS that Ross is playing is still around. he plays it at his local gigs. I took pics of it. It was beat up a bit from all the shows. It was very strange holding it in my hand. like a peice of history. Has great action. Anyways,He's a Great guy.
