I like how all the comments on here are about how the reviewer is an idiot, when he actually does a really good review, especially since he just got it that day.
Sorry, but your review was rather pointless. I have Sketchbook Mobile that I use on my iPhone and have created very detailed and beautiful artwork with the app, and that was with an iPhone! I know for a fact that the Sketchbook Pro for iPad is even better then the mobile version because I have seen some incredible work done by some of my other artist friends. If you don't know how to use this app, and especially if you don't know how to draw, why are you doing a review on this product?
HUH? Is it not a review for the app? He speaks directly about the feel and motion of the drawing, shows it has dynamic brushes and layers. Admits they JUST got it that day and apologizes, (fuck knows why) and then proceeds to show drawing.
I mean, what more do you expect it to do? What do you expect him to phase shift out of the monitor and give you oral sex or somethin? he never said it was a Sketchbook tutorial video.
What else could you possibly need other than brushes and layers?
uggg...... im biting my own words i would never get an ipad but with good styluses coming out for them and wacom display tablets over $1000, i just might have to get one now. Being when the ipad first came out the only way you could draw was to use you fingers which i hate. Now that is not a problem now i might have to get it for artist purposes.
It is painful to listen to this guy. It is like being back in school, feeling like a prisoner having to listen to a teacher that doesn't know what he is talking about but pretending to.
Please don't take this the wrong way but this review speaks more about what the reviewer DOESN"T know than about what he can grasp as far as the app is concerned.
He obviously cannot draw to save his life and that wouldn't be a bad thing - until he tries to review a drawing app...
You didn't show all the features and it not a drawing app that you mess around in. Its for people who love art, are serious about drawing actual works of art. They would just prefer it more on the iPad screen
Tell me why everyone is wigging out about this guy not knowing what hes talking about. who honestly cares he showed what all the things u can do on the app. just not in detail.
As a designer trying to make a decision on whether buying a Slate or an IPad, I truly find it hard to grab any information that might be useful, no sensation of brush application, no shading or hue definition, volume creation, nothing that might help me make a decision for one or the other, please stick to other things that do not require such big words as a Review of a certain specific program that some of us know but require only orientation over the hardware interface, sorry.
It's not rare to hear someone say..."Why a stylus? Fingers work great." Using fingers - is the very same thing as driving a car WITHOUT power steering. Fingers don't slide easily or smoothly across the screen. Fingers make ALL screens look like the owner vomited on it after only 11 minutes use. Fingers have absolute ZERO class. How can anyone use fingers - after watching the YOUTUBE videos seen on beststylusDOTcom. Time to grow up and into the best stylus in the world made by STYLUS-R-US
Sorry, you've marketed yourself as a "critic" and you're not even sure how much it costs? Time to find another niche, maybe there's a used car lot somewhere that needs help bullsh@tting people.
I am amazed that you would review this app and know so little about it you didn't even know the price. You got the device that day & must have paid for the app. Is remembering how much you paid really too much to ask?
i don't think it was bad...and he's right...it's not like a pen tablet or a sketchbook at all...you can't really draw something good on this....and it didn't really seem like he knew nothing about it to me...
@menotspeakenglish Have you seen the videos of people using this app decently? It's a good app, for people with decent hands and imagination. Otherwise it's a waste of space/money.
come on! its like giving a car to a monkey... he has no clue..... dude seriously i mean no ofense, but you underestimate the power of the dark side. this app is pure gold... you won't be struttin that ass if you knew what is for
This is a professional app. If you are not giving a professional review or technical review about this app this review is useless. I'm not being a jerk, just saying.
114% opacity? you do realize that's not possible, well I guess it could be, i've never used this program before and I figure autodesk knows what they are doing considering this is a "really really cool" professional tool on a full computer, but you never know. I'm probably wrong though since you know how to read the title of the app and all
Sorry if this has been said before. But first things first. You didnt even know for sure the price of the app, let alone the features. A review should have quotable content. And second, there is a stylus. Its called the Pogo. its been out sense the iPhone 3g. But...Cool app. I will have to get it after I watch a real review
I guessed it.....I guessed. Every douche was critisizing this invent and they just were seeing the Cons and bad stuff.

This is a good review from a person who has an iPad and is doodling in real time. No time lapse here. The nay-sayers don't even have an iPad "but they've seen one one youtube."
Thanks for the comparison to pencil and paper. Kids should start doodling on paper.
um, i think it's really cool that, um, you tried to review something you know nothing about, um, but, ummmm, i was looking for a REAL review, not someone telling me that this program has brushes and layers that are, um, really cool. um.
You're all just a bunch of spoiled little whining bandwagon riding bitches , who couldn't have an original thought on your own if your life depended on it.
You just want him to show you any feature that might help you to pretend you can draw better than you really can.
You just want him to show you something that you can monkey_see_do, then go pretend to go around as if you might have some form of indicative talent, on your own.
I'm not a negative commentator, but why would you do a review on something after you've had five minutes to review it and clearly have no artistic background with the iphone app? "oops- if it goes off the edges, you're hosed." So, double tap for undo? "Not a replacement for pencil and paper." I'd like to see some of your pencils before I can give that statement a whole lot of cred.
But- I've never posted a video, so at least you do the work! (see- negative comments aren't my thing)
First, yes there's a Pogo stylus which works perfect on iThings.
Second, you should take a look at Flickr and realize how "bad" the iPhone paintings apps are.
Third, the cover of the app you were reviewing was made by Francesco Salvati on an iPhone using Sketchbook mobile...kinda great masterpiece, don't you think?
I don't know if someone already mentioned this, but there is a stylus available for this and other devices. Google pogo stylus - it's made by a company called Ten One Design and works on trackpads and touch devices and only costs like $10-$15 bucks. It's not as precise as a Wacom pen, but it's better than your finger. I also don't know if the price has changed, but I bought sketchbook pro for my iPad last week and it was $7.99
Yeah you should continue with your iPhone applications' reviews. You could start reviewing iPad apps when the jailbreak is released and you download all of your IPAs for free just like you do with the iPhone now.
So far I see nothing out of the ordinary on this thing. Yea it's all touch screen, but I like my mechanical keyboard and I like my screen to be smudge free.
This is definitely one of my favorite apps on the iPad. Works great for me. The only lag that happens is when you scribble. I have even exported a layered psd file that I used to animate in After Effects.
this guy sucks, you should see some of the things jim lee of marvel did. he's just scribbling. even on my 4gb imac scribbles lag. actually drawing works great on this. i do use a stylist but fingers work fine. a good idea is to wear a glove so you can rest your drawing hand on the screen. there are already good videos on here of people actually drawing a picture.
This guy doesn't know how to use the program yet. It works great. There is a tiny amount of lag even on wacom cintiq tablets, but it isn't really an issue in practice. The most impressive drawing application for iPad. It gets close to Painter apps for the desktop, and all you lack now is a proper stylus that could support capacitive screens... oops, HTC has patent on that!
try DAGi accu-pen styluses they might give you the accuracy you're looking for.
