  • Guitarist is grandstanding with an inappropriate lead in and tone whenever he can grab the floor. He needs to be fired. Most other tones are ALL wrong for her voice and she is singing in the wrong key for her voic I thought Dan Auerbach produced her? Dan, HELLO!

  • Does anyone know the name of the lead guitarist? I dig his tone.

  • 3:31 - she's going 'OMG, OMG, OMG' waiting for Dave

  • saw jess open up for justin townes earle and dan auerbach, best night of my life, she made eye contact with me throughout the entire show, my god how easily i fell in love.

  • I saw her open for Ryan Adams last night solo and acoustic. She was pretty amazing but sadly did not play this song.

  • Way amazing version of this song, just wow!!!!!.... you can hear Dan Auerbachs producing/influence for sure,,,,

  • sweet song, sweet voice, dig the change to a faster tempo,... this song is really bluesly and rock n' rolly... feelin kinda sh^&ty today..made me feel good

  • Agreed guitar was way too loud ! Great album and excellent mixing by Kennie Takahashi down in Burbank

  • So when the hell am I going to be able to hear this on the radio?!?

  • I just saw JLM at Philly Folk Fest. Definitely one of my favorites before and especially after fest.

  • She is so talented. FOR TODAY blows me away everytime I hear it. THE break up song.

  • the lead guitar playing is brilliant but could have been put more in the background in some parts

  • Her Jewish lawyer also plays the microkorg

  • Jessica is so beautiful and talented but I think it is such a shame that David Mayfield isn't getting the recognition he deserves. He is one of the most talented musicians I have ever seen/heard in my life. His personality puts him over the top. He is a once in a lifetime performer and man and deserves to be in the spotlight more often instead of being stuck in the background. It's about time for him to get the recognition, credit, and love he deserves.

  • She's just plain wonderful. Why won't she marry me already?

  • Agree -- saw her in Myrtle Beach before the Avetts -- the guitar guy is a joke

  • KENT LOVE!

  • Hope Sandoval's long lost sister? Tastes like a mix of Cowboy Junkies and Mazzy Star with a bit more pep. Yum!

  • hmmm, Kurt's kid sister and Alan Ginsberg's missing progeny (go David, nice beard & great moves) and all that country too! Nice work kids. Long live the spirit of Kent! Stay true! OK, July 4 2011 is almost over -- you can ditch the RW&B guitar strap in favor of brandishing a PBR strap or hell, just ditch the colors and make you own ;)

  • love the song and the lead guitar is great

  • Whoa...what's up with the guitar? I love this song and her, but, unless my audio is off, the guitar is far too loud and overshadows her vocals. he can obviously play, but dang dude turn it down a notch to, like, 11 or something.

  • I get the sense that Letterman actually likes good music. I've seen him not give artist more than a thank you and goodnight but watch him love all over TBK's I Got Mine and then this performance he seems to genuinely like as well.

  • Guitar man's got what it takes.. probably 150th time he's played already. Dig the cat on

organ. I'd bet his version of too heavy crosses his mind,

  • I'm having fun learning to play her songs...good call on the part of my instructor. Thanks for posting.

  • Refreshing

  • i wonder if after the show, dave and jess talked about their mutual love of foo fighters?

  • Live is real not pro tools Fool.

    This is Top Notch.

  • Can anyone tell what kind of guitar Ritchie is playing? It's some sort of Jassmaster/Jaguar copy. It looks like Succo or something.

  • @lastnote I've been trying to figure that out. I think it says Supra on it.

  • @KyleMantegna You're absolutely right man, it's a Supro. I forgot about those. It's a 60's Supro of some kind. It kind of looks like a 1966 Supro S635 with a different tail piece. Jimmy Page used old Supro amps on Zep's early records. Thanks for jogging my memory man!

  • @lastnote Thanks!! Do you have any more information about Supros? I'm not finding too much. Do you know if they're a sub-company of another brand? I saw him play it last night, he's great.

  • @KyleMantegna Google "supro guitars" and click the fourth link at vintageguitars.

It looks like one of the Lexington series. I don't know much about their guitars, but the amps have had a lot of buzz over the years because of the Jimmy Page thing.

  • Lol @ the guy with Bin Laden beard singing.

  • love this song but i love the intuition remix better. be nice to have both of them on at once. go indy music!

  • For some reason, I want to play Zelda.

  • She is like a female version of Thom Yorke

  • Anyone else think the lead guitar is a little obnoxious? Too much. Turn it down a little. Album version sounds much better.

  • @motalio1 Make sure you have both left and right speakers on, for some reason they put the guitar only on the left channel and the vocals mostly on the right channel.

  • @quadpus You're right. Maybe I should not make comments about sound quality when I'm watching the video on my phone. Still that is wierd that they put it all to the left.

  • @motalio1 I absolutely love that guys guitar playing!!!

  • @motalio1 I absolutely love that guys guitar playing!!!

  • @motalio1 I saw them recently in a small club setting and they were amazing...even better than the album version. The electric guitarist is an amazing, textural player. There's something off about the mix here on live tv.

  • @motalio1 No... Ritchie Kirkpatrick is an incredible guitar player, the mix is excellent, the shows live are mixed like this and wonderful...

  • @motalio1 Oh no no no. I think the guitarist really adds to this song! saw them live and Richie give JLM an extra something.

  • @motalio1 I love it! I think his sound is amazing.

  • @motalio1

He is obviously skillfully adding the texture and mood with the feedback of the guitar and requires the gain.

I think it sounds perfect! He is so unique. He is playing on the strings behind the guitar bridge to achieve this shimmering glass effect.. so cool.

  • @motalio1 It is called a live performance, not the Miley circus performance that you are used to.

  • @motalio1 I disagree. The album version has a different feel, but I like this one also. This live performance is quite refined. They're tight. I appreciate the extra color that the feedback of the guitar adds to the mix.

  • @motalio1 I know what you mean, he looks pretty unsettled by it as well perhaps it wasn't his guitar. I've been to a few concerts and sometimes they already have instruments set up for the next band so the best that they can do is try and tune it to their own style.

  • @motalio1 agreed

  • @motalio1 You must be a female.

  • Obnoxious prick

  • @motalio1 I saw her live in Kent and i have too say that the lead guitarist was the best part of her act he was bobbing around like a chicken without a head

  • I think she needs to practice more to become a singer... the song sounds like somebody with a terrible pain or in need to go to the restroom.

  • @Jairm2003 Umm you should look her up, she has been singing lead in a blugrass band since she was 8. She's supposed to sound in pain, thats her thing, its a dark album.

  • for a song with such deep and personal lyrics, her performance seems to lack much emotion or stage presence the song conveys. but the song is beautiful and so is she

  • Yes, big beard is David Mayfield, her brother. He is an excellent guitarist and performer.

  • yay kent! i live there!

  • I think the guy with the big beard is her brother.

  • I feel like she could be Kurt Cobain's little sister.

  • @AdamoMoreno Hahh! I was thinking Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love.

  • @AdamoMoreno except kurt cobain was a douche and she is awesome...

  • @AdamoMoreno oh you heard the cover she made **Lounge Act**

  • @AdamoMoreno She could be Lucinda William's daughter.

  • Lovely song. Cool guitar sounds. I'm gonna catch her upcoming show here in Kansas City.

  • "run myself into the ground" would have blown them away. still wonderful though.

  • Stunning,,,Absolutely Stunning.The pefect band wih a great totally original Singer-Songwriter.

  • yes, been waiting for this to come up=)

  • How the heck does she play in those heels?

  • It was a wonderful surprise to see her on TV getting this level of recognition and exposure. I've seen her three times in Pittsburgh and she has definitely won me over. She looks fantastic here, as always!

  • Ohio!

  • props to dan for getting her music out there. great songwriter

  • She must have given David a valium in order for him to stand so still!

  • Best looking band in America

  • Richie! im so proud

  • Marry me Jessica!!

  • She's dreamy.

  • the guitar player is hot

  • HOLY crap it's GRANT
