  • one of the best lead players i was 16 saw them in san diego sport arena

  • I wanna go back to the sixties and stay there.........

  • I saw Alvin Lee back in 1982 here in Chicago. He opened for Black Sabbath with Ronny James Dio (The Mob Rules) tour.

  • Yup, I would too, but I don't know what to do. (Actually I do know. End war. Give everyone enough or plenty. And return regular Snapple Mint Tea.)

  • sweet... thanks for the memories...was always one of my favorite albums...

  • Alvin adds so much 'soul' to his playing, a fury of intimate thrusting bends, erotic pulsating scales, a huge climactic push at 2:55, and a soft kiss to close. He didn't miss anything, did he? Good guy.

  • This is really nice song

  • Still beautiful. Just like Alvin, but one would never know from this song, that Alvin gets down so low and so good when he sings and plays the Blues.

  • This song was great 10 years after it was produced, and ten years after that, and ten more years after that, and ....

  • @stillustronic Yep, this tune will still be great in the year 2525 and beyond . . . .

  • well you could have at least got the title right

  • i'd also like to change TO world

  • this is back when our country was still alive and independent - when we still had imagination and enough heart to tell the rest of the world to fuck off. just my opinion.

  • @terrylrt1 saw ten years after in the 70's st.louis. Kiel Aiditorium. . the 'man' turned the lights on to hurry up and end the show. lee said fuck it and kept playing. then they turned the power off and that;s when the crowd rioted. Awsome

  • @terrylrt1 Just wait, for the times they are a-changing!!

  • a telemarketer called from india, so i played this song and said suck on that

  • just as true today as it was back in the day!!! love this tune...

  • think about it? wow!!!

  • Think about the words and dream!!!! xD

  • Tax the rich feed the poor til there are no rich no more....amazing that we are still arguing this point.....yes tax the rich feed the poor....

  • funny how a lot of what they talk about is still a problem today, go figure!

  • A song made 41 yrs ago that is still true is a CLASSIC!!!! Anyone think people will be listening to Lady Gaga in 41 yrs 2053??? I Doubt it....People will just say Lady who? Classic Rock will live Forever

  • @wooba1000 Lady who?

  • @wooba1000 Lady who? lol

  • @wooba1000

I believe you are right my friend. The stuff now lacks a key part, it has no soul. Listen to this cut and tell me these guys weren't making a statement.

  • @maf5454 We're now 2012 under the influence of a planetary effect very similar to what was going on back in the 60's. There will be many similar changes (already well-known). Only this time, it's more intense, and the people will rule!!

  • @maf5454 good music!

  • How can anybody in their right minds dislike a classic such as this?

  • to the gentleman who took the time to upload this I applaud you

i had this song long ago and thru the years it got lost or stolen

    very clear

    thanks again

  • what a masterpiece

  • Thank You!

  • "I'd love to change the world, but I don't know what to do....so I'll leave it up to you" "WE" are all "YOU"!! Let's change it!

  • What year? 72?

  • Great tune

  • Everywhere theirs freaks and hairies dikes amd fairies tell me where's!!! the sanity

  • Comment removed

  • I often thank the Lord that I was young enough to hear this music when it first came out-I only wish that I'd paid more attention to it

  • my favorite of all albums.Saw live in Phoenix was worth every dime.the original shredder.

over and over the greatest band I ever saw.

  • AFTER THIS WEEKEND I END UP HERE YEAH SPEAKS VOLUMES

  • I hope this song is on when its time to go with God.

  • @madmikeastoria

    Right on

  • I guess we can all agree that 60's gen is still alive and well.

  • @fatoldsun1998 hell yea

  • @fatoldsun1998 Well some of us are still alive, but we might argue the well part. Have a good one

  • @fatoldsun1998 yes................

  • One of the very best tunes ever written!! Think about the words and dream.

  • Prophetic yes. Have a listen to Steppenwolf's Monster for the complete story.

  • A futuristic band from the 60's...loved them then still love them now...funny how up to date they are!

  • maybe but we r the 99%!kisses from struggling Greece!lets tax the rich and feed the poor until there are no rich no more...

  • 9 people don't want to change the world.

  • Wow how prophetic this song is even after all these years!

  • @KX7880 Yes, I agree!!

  • 9 people must like the world "As Is".

  • YOU FOLKS CAN KEEP THE POLITICS .OR YOU CAN ENJOY THE MUSIC. THAT'S WHAT ALVIN LEE INTENDED.

  • been into Ten Years After since 1970 and there is not one bad track in the 20 albums they done and of course what Alvin Lee is still doing

  • I always thought this song should be the National Anthem for the left in this country. But I still like it, Alvin Lee is a great guitar player.

  • @Bigoldjeff1956 Yes! I knew it! Alvin Lee is the guitar wizard behind the snazzy riffs on this timeless masterpiece! How odd. My local news rag informs me that today is his birthday, but they only refer to him as a singer!!!

In the past, I've had many guitarist friends who constantly rave about what a genius Alvin Lee is on guitar! It's been so long, I just had to confirm. Thank you!

  • @Bigoldjeff1956 "Tax the rich, feed the poor, until there are, no rich no more" sounds just like 2011 OWS movement.

  • I was lucky enough to see Ten Years After back in 1970 at the Goose Lake 3 day rock festival. 8-)

  • I think people who dismiss socialism and internationalism outright may not adequately consider the problems we'll BE facing shortly, mainly overpopulation and climate change (whatever its cause, which we really should agree on soon), and they still think in isolationist terms. Simple fact is its getting crowded, we've got major problems coming, and we're getting more interdependent whether we like it or not. Consider problems and solutions with those facts in mind, we can be lazy or proactive.

  • guywithanushanka, Sorry to disagree but there are not many world leading countries that I know of that can prove your point, but it is definitely not something the US could have work in our society. We are the world leader and as such we need to have a country that can embrace democracy and its people and the very values of which our country was founded on. To be free of tyranny and oppression. Perhaps we all need to read our own countries history like we used to do when I was a kid in school.

  • @comprepservices abo-fucking-lutlely!!!!

  • @johnnieknown You forgot the s, but I absitively, posilutely agree. I think if we meet somewhere in the middle of all these ideas, they will serve us well.

  • @66LifesMistress77 :D i did forget the s... lol oh well, you know what i mean!!! right on girl!!! or, i hope your a girl lol

  • @johnnieknown Of course!

  • @comprepservices i respect your opinion on the matter and thank you for replying in a respectful way. while i do see how not many modern day countries have shown that socialism does not work some aspects of socialism can be applied to a capitalist system and for this reason i do not see why socialism is such a hated idea in capitalist countries. also just because i do believe in communism does not mean that i think it should be instated instead of capitalism, but i do believe in its ideals.

  • @guywithanushanka I never thought I'd find someone else who thinks the same. I've been critizied so much about communism and I'm tired of explaining to everyone what it really means. Thanks for being the 'other one' who understands.

  • @guywithanushanka Obviously, you don';t know much. We are a socialist country re: Social Security, Medicare, Medicade, police, firefighters, all the other programs our taxes pay for. Teachers, etc. The word "socialismj" is a hated word because politicians on the right throw it in the face of Democrats like a daggar. They pretend it's bad in order to push lower taxes and smaller gov't. They r ealizse it is a con on the uneducated and foolish in our society.Wake up! Okay?

  • @slkaiser69 obviously you didn't take the time to read what i wrote. I believe in socialism and i see it as a positive influence and that many of its ideals can and do influence many of our governments policies. The main point that i was making was that socialism should not be looked down upon and i do not understand how in any way your comment disagrees with what I have written.

  • @guywithanushanka I absolutely read what you wrote but apparently mis-interpreted your meaning. I apologize for that and concurr with what you replied. It is absolutely positive and is sadly being spun to conotate a negative impact upon the masses, 50% of whom can be convinced to vote against their own self-interest. I truly believe that ignorance is bliss and wish that I were not the smart guy that I am. Ha

  • @slkaiser69 I thank you for your apology and might i add that you reply with the fineness that not many youtuber's care to show.

  • @guywithanushanka You are too kind. However, if you wish to check out some killer punk, check out my dead roommate, Tom "Pig Champion" Roberts of Poison Idea. They have many albums and eps on Youtube. They have traveled the world and were a favorite of Kurt Cobain's and Turbo Negro. Thanks again for the kind words.

  • @slkaiser69 I would love to check out the band as i am a punk fan and i thank you for thanking me for thanking you. if only there were more people as courteous as you there would not be as much war.

  • @guywithanushanka Let me know how you like their music. Tom was my roommate for ten years. It was I who found him dead,January 31, 2006. He had died about 1:00AM.

  • @slkaiser69 love their music. They were an awesome band.

  • @jollyhansen Inded, my man. Glad you found it to your liking. I sat in on their practices and the like stuff. Kurt was a friend to Tom and bought him a bottle of booze when Nirvana picked Poiso9n Idea to front for them on the outdoor show at the No on Nine concert at the Portland racetrack. N0o on Nine was an anti-discrimination measure that some bigots were trying to slide into law. Kurt seemed to be a very nice guy. Catch you on the flip side.

  • @slkaiser69 Actually, I meant that the measure was a discriminati0on bill that would have been a major fuck-up to have passed. The measure was majorly defeated. Have a good day, sir. Until next time.

  • @jollyhansen Still are an awesome band. Jerry A and one or two of their most recent line-up played a show in Mexico last month and play in Portland, OR on occassion. I haven't seen them since Tom died because sometimes it is too painful to hear their music. Hopefully, I will remember the good times and not think of the horror that occurred when I found Tom. He had been sick for about a week before so it can cause unplkeasant memories.

  • @jollyhansen It's kinda interesting that we really didn't write about Ten Years After. I saw them in Houston, TX with Robin Trower (sic). I was really into Alvin Lee at the time. I grew up in Houston and went to Univ. of Houston studied Accounting and am a CPA. I moved to Albuquerque, NM for two years and then moved to Portland, OR. Great place. I don't remember much about the show as I had smoked a little PCP which tunnel visioned me out.

  • @comprepservices We lie under the boot heels of oppression of the rich elite. They are buying our elected officials and unfortunately, our Supreme Court which has now become a court of ideology. We are not democratic because approximately % of us are too ignorant to get the facts before the elections. Instead they are swayed by ads and suppossednew media (Fox) that tells only lies and spin. I fear we are lost unless the Occupy movement translates to voter awareness.

  • The lyrics still fit the world exactly then as now! Scary huh? So, I'll leave it up to you?

  • Thanks for sharing. I love this song!!!!!!

  • A few comments here got it right politically, Socialism does not work and nor does communism. People want their freedoms but sometimes they don't realize the cost it comes with. Rich people can be be as greedy and selfish but there are many that that do not fit that perception, for without free market capitalism we will spiral into a non sustainable existence, and history is proving itself to be true. Term limits on congress would fix a lot of our problems for sure!

  • @comprepservices many places that practice socialism are doing fine, and im a strong believer in communism...

  • @guywithanushanka The biggerst group of socialist nations are in Europe and that is not doing well, we're bailing them out, have been pouring money into Greece for a couple of years. What nations were you referring to?

  • @guywithanushanka umm, what places are you talking about? and mr. communist, look in the history books.... name ONE, just ONE communist nation that DIDN'T go down in flames? you really think you can do better, you twat? "ooh, i'm sooo cool and wise and smart and hip and just because nobody else before us could make it work, WE CAN HAVE A FUNCTIONING COMMUNIST SOCIETY AND TAKE FROM PEOPLE WHO EARNED IT TO GIVE TO THE SCUM THAT BRING DOWN SOCIETY!" karl marx was an IDEALIST, not a REALIST!!

  • @boomhauer15 I agree with your content, but I do not agree with the delivery ( name calling and derogatory disrespectful tone). I think IMHO it is best to speak TRUTH in LOVE. Truth is hard enough for some to hear but it is impossible if it is wrapped in mean words??

  • I feel like it has to be pointed out that the message of this song is that while everyone sees the problem, nobody knows the solution. The line about tax the rich and feed the poor until there are no rich no more is about how most people at the time wanted to tax the rich but 10YA realized that wasn't going to be helpful. Don't call them communists, because they are being sarcastic.

  • drumer-singer-guitarist-bass?

  • A Classic song... Ten Years after with Alvin Lee... what a guitarist...

  • Will always be around a real classic.

  • Words can't express how amazing this song is.

  • @teenageanarchist1011 This song might have one of the best guitar solo/riffs of all time in it, not to mention the killer lyrics...

  • @teenageanarchist1011 Yes, great song !

  • @teenageanarchist1011 I totallaly agree!

  • 49-year-old male commenting here, remembering when the song came out. Just wanted to say, love the music - hate the message as it is deceptive and never worked in anytime or place. "Tax the rich 'til there aint no rich no more" and you will help the poor for about ten seconds - and then they will be in an even worse hole then they were before. I am sure Ten Years After realized this as the success of their song was a commercial one, relying on the "rich" record companies to get it out!

  • @etherealtoad He was actually being antagonistic with the lyrics. Listen closer to them all. I read somewhere that this song and 'Won't get fooled again', were the two of best(and few) songs that had anti liberal stances in a very liberal music scene.

  • @999klondike Actually, I think you might be right, 999klondike; 'everywhere is freaks and hairies, dikes and fairies" - is not actually PC language even for that day. You're right: this song is about the futility of trying to find "magical" solutions to real problems plaguing us then as now.

  • @999klondike I agree, the lyrics lead you to believe that they are trying to find sanity & "normalcy" in a world gone mad...

  • Listen to the words...tax the rich, feed the poor, till there are'nt no rich no more...then everyone will be poor all you numbnuts out there who don't realize the rich actually feed the poor with JOBS!!!!

  • Can't beat smart people writing and performing ORIGINAL Music... We need this now! Where's the OWS anthem? Where are the "musicians"? Dark times indeed...

  • Damn, this guy plays a blistering guitar. Awesome sound.

  • I'm hoping we don't have to come back in the next life and deal with music spawned by The Bieber!

  • Don't trust anyone over 30!

  • @keithalmas I like this comment, and I am 41....I don't trust anyone over 30...well, cept my wife....lmao!

  • ITS SAYS COMINISUM,,TAX THE RICH !!!

  • @HarleyHardRock Cont: Now a new bunch of clueless useful idiots are reliving their grandparents dreams of overthrowing our Republic in favor of placing everyone into slavery under a hammer & sickle. What we have to realize is in their world, money grows on trees or even better, comes out of Tim Geithner's butt like fairie dust. While Ben Bernake says, "Keep printin' that monopoly money boys ! ! "

  • @HarleyHardRock You have to realize it was a different time back then. It was the prevalent message at the time. It was when many romanticized the commies, before the wall came down & we finally saw the atrocities were true...& worse! Continued:.....

  • Przepiękne - na wieki!

  • @charliemac64

I'll tip my hat to the new constitution

Take a bow for the new revolution

Smile and grin at the change all around me

Pick up my guitar and play

    Just like yesterday"

  • A gem, fer sure fer sure. Thanks

  • awesome song love it , love older music 60,s-90-s still young at heart !!!! booooYaaaa!!!

  • First tune I learned on the guitar. Note for note. By ear. Didn't even know I was playing chords. Great tune.

  • some of us do

  • I was the Master Guitarist that helped give "Alvin Lee" the Guitar Lessons he needed to get up to speed on songs like this...Dan O'Niallain

  • Just heard on the evening news.....we have reached the 7 Billion

mark as of 10-31-11...that is a bit spooky...7 Billion on Halloween!

By the time children born today reach 14 years of age...there will

be 8 Billion! Maybe it's time for a global spay neuter policy before

we implode...but then again, the more the merrier...just a thought?

  • If only we could...I feel the same bro.

  • who missed the tax the rich feed the poor till there are no rich any more.... you think they liked this line .. and bees make honey.... oh come on.

  • Alvin Lee, a gutiar god, haven;t you figgered that out yet? look at Coming Home, tya

  • 1956, Elvis came with rock and roll, 1971 Ten Years After and rock and roll has changed ALOT...2011, the world is still turning and changing

  • This is a great song, and a truthful song! Alot of people don't know what to do, so they leave it up to you! BobbyK

  • This is such a GREAT song "HEAR". ROCK ON!!!!!!!

  • If only we could...

  • All still too true after so many years.

  • what a Fantastic Tune!!..if only we could Change the world"...*

  • Look up "Cloward Piven Strategy" It is truely what Nobama has done and is still doing to this day--very scary!!!!!!

  • What's the best way to tear apart a nation as big as the US? Destroy it from within. Use it's freedoms against it....take down it's economy. Buy a congressman and use said congressman for your own nefarious purposes...better yet...just buy a freakin president.

  • @Gloominusdm ...and your point is?

  • I'd love to change the world by getting rid of Obama.

  • @JawsJaws And replace him with who? Rick Perry the secessionist treasoner or Mitt Romney the liar? I've been disappointed but there are no options for a progressive. Assuming you aren't a seventeenth century conservative, lie abut evolution, about global warming about tax cuts causing job. See Geo., W. Bushes worst jobs grown in the entire history of the U.S. Obviously you don't get out much. A little exposure to the real world would change your tune real quickly assuming you pay attention

  • @slkaiser69 Unemployment rates doubled under Obama. Check out for yourself. 2.5 million jobs lost since Obama took office. The housing market is in trouble. Credit rating has dropped. 15 trillion in debt. NO cost of living in social security for the first time ever and thats two years in a row. 423,000 new unemployment claims this past month. Then there Obama's buddies at Solyndra. Over half a billion dollars wasted in taxpayer money. The USPS is in trouble. Everything Obama touches he fucks up.

  • @JawsJaws You need to do your homework. The recession was the result of Geo. W. He started the mess with a one trillion dollar stimulus package as I recall.

With the Republicans in the house blocking anything he has tried to do to improve things of course they are going to get worse. That is the Republican strategy after all. You guys are almost intolerable to communicate what with your lack of deference to those pesky facts and shit. Don't bug me again, asshole.

  • @slkaiser69 Still no numbers or links. Hate facts? Your messiah is brainwashing you.

  • @JawsJaws I don't believe in messiahs. I am an atheist, thank you. Boy, you guys in here don't believe in facts or truths. I would say your messiah is probably Rush Limbaugh, the druggie.

  • @slkaiser69 I dont like Rush the non druggie. I like Glenn Beck and Ron Paul. Im an independant. I dont know how you can support Obama. He is the worst president ever.

  • @JawsJaws What do you mean, Non druggie? He has a felony conviction for drug use. Anyway, Obama is in fact a black person and I am sure you have a problem with that. If you were an independant thinker as well as calling yourself an independant you would know that Obama has been greatly hampered by the filibusters in the Senate then the obstructionism by the majority party votes in the House. In prior years there might have been maybe 10-13 filibusters a year. The past yr, 113.

  • @JawsJaws Furthermore, Obama has tried to accomodate the Republicans to no effect. After all, they care more about making him a one term president rather than doing anything good in the best interests of the American people. And that, my man, is a hard cold (sorry to hit you with one of these inconvenient things) fact. I know you guys don't like debating when you have to consider such unfortunate things as truth so I will let you guys go back to living in your fantasyland.

  • @slkaiser69 No, he does not care about republicans and independants. Hes arrogant. He wants things his way. Sorry you cant see that.

  • @slkaiser69 He has done everything to exclude republicans and independants. Sorry you cant sdee that. Obama is an arrogant man.

  • @JawsJaws He bent over backwards to pacify republican. They wouldn't vote for anything he agreed to. Even if it was a Republican idea. He would give away the farm top the republicans and they still wouldn't vote for their ideas. Wake up and smell the coffee. You gotta quit watching Fox, man. That channel wouldn't know a fact if it bit them on the ass.

  • @slkaiser69 BULLCRAP! Obama is a chronic liar, a dictator, a tyrant and a Marxist Muslim Socialist who wants to do nothing but destroy the Constitution and the United States from within! To believe anything else is to be ignorant and deceived! Ten Years After one of the best rock bands in history!

  • @fdavidfargher Obviously you don't pay attention to legitimate media, probably just Fox (o credibility whatsoever) And you probably are incapable of distinguishing fact from fiction and for that, I truly pity you. As you do,in fact appear to have a good grasp of music. However, until you've listened to Poison Idea I would say even that is in doubt. Tom aka Pig Champion was my roommate for ten years before dying and introduced me to Kurt Cobain. Courtney was a groupie at Tom's house before.

  • @fdavidfargher just an idiot

  • @fdavidfargher NATION BLEEDING....STUCK RIGHT IN THE HEART.......IGNORANCE AT THE TOP..BRILLIANT OBSERVATION NOT ENOUGH PPL. SEE WHATS REALLY HAPPENING..

  • @slkaiser69 Obama tries to sneak things into his bills. I would vote no on his bills too. Obama's bills are bad ones. Everything Obama has done is a failure. You need to quit watching MSNBC. Do you want numbers from me? I can give them. I got links to unemployment numbers too. What do I got to do to convince you Obama is bad? I can't believe you can't see that. Or maybe you do see it but are afraid to acknowledge it.

  • bee's make honey....????

  • Songs they don't play on rock stations no more what a shame.

  • I work hard to pay my bills... tax the hell out of me... less money for my bills and family and GIVE it to those who dont work to earn it. ... MAMA MIA!!!

  • @MrFoxfan67 c"mon people taxes keeps america working. Corporations hiring i was born democrat with my self induced education i am surviving plus. regardless with our current commander in chief. sempr fi

  • @kingcross56 im not anti tax... Roads, cops, fireman, military etc... its the insane comments on this page that drives me nuts... I am anti nanny state... where the government holds your hand form cradle to grave which takes an insane amount of taxing to do... We are already 14+ Trillion in federal debt alone due to nanny state mentality. PS.. Corporations in general are not hiring...

  • 6 people have hard ons for maroon 5.

  • The Tea Parties supposedly where angry at the Republicans and the Democrats but by voting Republican they prove their true phony like the GOP making the US into a police State which contradicts their values of a smaller and weaker government with people having more privacy and freedom.

  • some people are too rich.

  • only GOD can chg the hearts of the politics of this US of A

  • A gem of a song, rich on many levels. Too bad today's "artist" haven't got a clue.

  • If there are no rich people, who will hire you?

  • @lategrad goverment

  • If you read some of the interviews-- they were mocking the headlines and silliness of popular (but shallow) thought.

Perhaps it is useful to point out that the band was made up of "hairies?"
