  • It's a Mourning Gecko (Lepidodactylus lugubris). The dark band running thru the eyes & the dark spots along the sides (plus chevrons on the back) are a dead giveaway. Common House Geckos (Hemidactylus frenatus) don't have these characteristics, & the Mediterranean House Gecko (Hemidactylus turcicus) doesn't have an unbroken eye line, nor the large, dark side spots.

    Crested Geckos (Rhacodactylus ciliatus) look nothing like this: they have crests around their eyes & on their head.

  • They usually eat at night when you aren't awake. They prefer to eat in the dark and anyway, they don't usually eat until the 3rd or 4th day.
