  • Hello, I was wanting to ask your permission to release this horn sound for the game called Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) as a freeware file... do i have your permission to release this?

  • Cool horn. Thumbs up! :)

  • You might need to get that fixed. LOL! God bless ya dude!

  • it going threw puperty give it a break!

  • it wanted to go to britain. so first thing it did was disconnect the system that blows all the horns at the same time to sound like 2 tone horn. and top gear was in britain

  • Sounds like a squirrel is shoved in one of the bells.

  • Sounds like canadian geese.

  • @izzwardo My thoughts too.

  • nice orn sounds like it aying. "retier me now"

  • ewww that horn is so bad sounds like a old cars ahooga horn it would be nice to see these trains back in actiona and restored to better condition.

  • Brings back great memories for me.

  • I grew up in a small town with SCL and the Family Line Systems rail. All those trains passing through our small town for so many years. I miss the SCL logo. Chessie and SCL have logos and an image for superior to today's CSX (Chessie/Seaboard combined) logo.

  • The thing I remember most on my dads yard was the "family lines" paint. When buying model railroad stuff I end up buying mostly L&N/SCL because of that.

Thanks for sharing. This would have been about when I spent time at the office with dad messing up their computers.

  • What does "Fallen Flags" mean? A railroad that no longer exists? Sorry, am not a railway expert, but these vids are cool!

  • Yes.

  • Thanks. Sure miss those bright green BN engines!

  • I was year old when this vidoe was made I was a little railfan then:) railfans pass stuff one genration to the next

  • haha

  • like the horn sounds like a wanna-be europian horn

  • Heh, heh, it does.

  • A similar thing happened with a Lake Superior & Ishpeming C30-7 in the C Vision video, "Rails Through The North Country". Thanx fur sharin'!

  • I wonder if that GP40 has a 2-bell or a 3-bell horn. I only see 2.

  • 3 bell

  • Holy Hell!! I agree on the title 100%

  • love the idle at 1:54

  • The engineer must've been so embarrassed!

  • You know..... you wouldn't think you would be embarassed, but one of our GP39-2's has the same problem and it is embarassing. It reminds me of a dove or pigeon cooing sound.

  • So that's what the GP40's mating call sounds like.

  • lol

  • Ha, ha.

  • I feel so bad for that poor cat! It shouldn't have to suffer. Wait, HOLY CRAP, THAT'S IT'S HORN!!!!!

  • LOL

  • That horn worked fine even though theirs somewhat a bad pitched audio Im sure the cars and pedestrians can still here this train a coming, Great video thanks!!!

  • What a sad Leslie 5...

  • Pimp ass video man. Love the old Seaboard Coast Line and Family Lines Railroads!

  • Yikes! Ironic, the slogan said "pulling for you". HA! Thanx fur sharin'!

  • I bet the crew of this train still hears that horn to this day in their head...

  • thats the saddest excuse for a horn ever, it was more like a messed up noise

  • wow OH MY GOD Argh that was extremely disgusting i feel like im sick but other than that great video but to bad you dont see seaboard locomotives anymore

  • Great video. Thanks for sharing.

  • thats a horrible sound!

  • Great video, but that horn did sound messed up!

  • Trains are cool.

  • Eeeeyowch!

  • Dang..... I feel sorry for the engineer on that thing.

  • two tone anyone?

  • *takes gun out and shoots self in temple area* after hearing the 1546...

  • excellent video

  • well, that is one of the ways Seaboard stands out!

  • I've heard that sound before, though in that case it was an old loco that had sat for a while. Wasps had built this HUGE nest in it, and the first time the engineer laid on the horn...well suffice it to say he didn't get out of the cab for a good thirty minutes.

  • Oh dear. That doesn't sound fun.

  • What do you mean by "he didn't get out of the cab for a good thirty minutes"?

  • When you have a swarm of really pissed off wasps buzzing around the cab, you wouldn't move your tail out of it either. The incident I described happened in the shops.

  • OK, I thought that was the case. I wasn't sure.

  • Says "near {Petersburg, Actually is at the yard throught at Collier Yard.

Ron @ Main Line Motion Pictures

  • so thats what hell sounds like.....lol

  • SOUNDS LIKE A BRITISH HORN!!!!!!!!!

  • @mbta1000 HOLAY FHUK! I HATE BRITISH TRAINS!!!

  • Must be blowing through the wrong reed ;p

  • That sounds like when you tell the child "very nice. Now (for the love of God) let daddy have the instrument now".

  • Sounds like someone was trying to give the damn thing an enema.

  • That sounds like a very sick RS5T horn, it doesn't sound too bad at the start, but then it just goes downhill in a hurry. That last train has the same type of horn, but it isn't fouled like the first one.

  • "Harmonic over-blowing"

  • It may have helped if it had all 5 bells on the horn!

  • wow....really bad horn...the engineers looked like they high fived...I even thaught I heard the "clap" sound.

  • INCREDIBLE! I grew up in nearby Enon, Va. The Hopewell Run went right through my back yard! 1972-77. Man, SCL had the widest range of power I've seen. Mostly Gp9's,40's and those U-boats came through Enon. The line, which originates in Bellwood, Va by DGSC, was lit some years ago. Rolling stock still consists of wood chip cars, pulp wood cars and cars with DANK tobacco. And tankers; Lots of tankers. SCL always had the widest variety of horns too; Ugly ugly ugly. Loved it. Thanks for posting.

  • I suppose the heritage of ugly horns continues with CSX...:)

  • I love the engineers reaction! Priceless!

  • Sounds like Iowa Interstate 708 before the high pitched sound. Nice video! 5 stars and favorited.

  • Nice! I like the Seaboard SD45! Brings back some memories! 5*

  • I used to not like the SCL flat black paint scheme, now I'd give anything to have it back! :)

  • that does bring back memories of the Seaboard Coast Line.

  • remember were not just pulling for SCL were PULLING FOR YOU!

  • true true

  • so does youtube (hint)

  • I have a hard time believing that those engines are actually close enough as to where the engineers sould actually "High Five".

  • watch it again...they come damn close if they don't touch each other's hands...

  • Get it together, Family Lines! Buy some paint!

  • I agree. But hey, in those days like today, it's hard for (then Family Lines)CSX to paint the locomotives when they're out taking care of so MUCH business!! It's very difficult! No offense. I'll take a much-in-need-of-a paint job CSX loco over any of Claytor's shiny powder puff pullers that go ass backward down the rails any day!! Have a good one.

  • No I love nothing more than the old schemes. One of my great thrills of visiting Cumberland in the mid 90s was seeing a u boat in her SCL black and yellow still. Plus I'm a Conrail-roads kid, so seeing EL and PC stuff is a treat too

  • I like it!!

  • I love the hopeless shrug the engineer gives when he sees the camera.

  • Guiness Book of Records for loudest duck call goes to...

  • LMAO........and here I thought the horn on my Kenworth sounded bad.

  • This is so cool seeing all of these units that I would later grow up watching in Ohio in the late 80's along the former B&O. Makes me glad I shot videos as well. Thanks for posting all of these!

  • ACL or SAL main???

  • Atlantic Coast Line where it goes over the N&W at Collier Yard

  • having the horn on the top of the cab roof, thats gotta suck! too much extra noise for the crew inside the cab!

  • That's a Leslie RS5T horn. Sounds like one of the bells became fouled by small pieces of debris or a broken diaphram.

  • It starts out good, but then, oww, my ears!

  • ya at fisrt it sounded good but then.............man

  • LOL thats funny!

  • Going thru puberty.

  • Poor SU-3L. -Jeffrey

  • Whats Wrong With Those Horns.

  • The old C30-7 does bring back memories to me as well as the caboose i wish CSX today would have cabooses on their trains instead of the crummy old end of train device to me it don't seem right to me without a caboose on every train i wish the cabooses were not phased out do you agree chessie93?

  • OMG Such an Irratating Horn

  • that is the worse disgusting horn i have ever heard or listen to in my life agree?

  • Disgusting horn!
