Hello, I was wanting to ask your permission to release this horn sound for the game called Microsoft Train Simulator (MSTS) as a freeware file... do i have your permission to release this?
it wanted to go to britain. so first thing it did was disconnect the system that blows all the horns at the same time to sound like 2 tone horn. and top gear was in britain
I grew up in a small town with SCL and the Family Line Systems rail. All those trains passing through our small town for so many years. I miss the SCL logo. Chessie and SCL have logos and an image for superior to today's CSX (Chessie/Seaboard combined) logo.
The thing I remember most on my dads yard was the "family lines" paint. When buying model railroad stuff I end up buying mostly L&N/SCL because of that.
Thanks for sharing. This would have been about when I spent time at the office with dad messing up their computers.
You know..... you wouldn't think you would be embarassed, but one of our GP39-2's has the same problem and it is embarassing. It reminds me of a dove or pigeon cooing sound.
That horn worked fine even though theirs somewhat a bad pitched audio Im sure the cars and pedestrians can still here this train a coming, Great video thanks!!!
wow OH MY GOD Argh that was extremely disgusting i feel like im sick but other than that great video but to bad you dont see seaboard locomotives anymore
I've heard that sound before, though in that case it was an old loco that had sat for a while. Wasps had built this HUGE nest in it, and the first time the engineer laid on the horn...well suffice it to say he didn't get out of the cab for a good thirty minutes.
When you have a swarm of really pissed off wasps buzzing around the cab, you wouldn't move your tail out of it either. The incident I described happened in the shops.
That sounds like a very sick RS5T horn, it doesn't sound too bad at the start, but then it just goes downhill in a hurry. That last train has the same type of horn, but it isn't fouled like the first one.
INCREDIBLE! I grew up in nearby Enon, Va. The Hopewell Run went right through my back yard! 1972-77. Man, SCL had the widest range of power I've seen. Mostly Gp9's,40's and those U-boats came through Enon. The line, which originates in Bellwood, Va by DGSC, was lit some years ago. Rolling stock still consists of wood chip cars, pulp wood cars and cars with DANK tobacco. And tankers; Lots of tankers. SCL always had the widest variety of horns too; Ugly ugly ugly. Loved it. Thanks for posting.

never mind the horn!!!!!! watch as the two engines meet, you'll actually see both engineers high five each other as they pass. this is a stupid thing to do, but i guess every job has its idiots.
I agree. But hey, in those days like today, it's hard for (then Family Lines)CSX to paint the locomotives when they're out taking care of so MUCH business!! It's very difficult! No offense. I'll take a much-in-need-of-a paint job CSX loco over any of Claytor's shiny powder puff pullers that go ass backward down the rails any day!! Have a good one.
No I love nothing more than the old schemes. One of my great thrills of visiting Cumberland in the mid 90s was seeing a u boat in her SCL black and yellow still. Plus I'm a Conrail-roads kid, so seeing EL and PC stuff is a treat too
This is so cool seeing all of these units that I would later grow up watching in Ohio in the late 80's along the former B&O. Makes me glad I shot videos as well. Thanks for posting all of these!
The old C30-7 does bring back memories to me as well as the caboose i wish CSX today would have cabooses on their trains instead of the crummy old end of train device to me it don't seem right to me without a caboose on every train i wish the cabooses were not phased out do you agree chessie93?
