To have lived the most fulfulling life and to have discovered its true meaning is to realize at the moment before you die that you have not a single regret.
The pipe tuneat the end is a March called "Cabar Feidh"! I couldnt beleive when i heard it. I love this band and missed that. I wonder where they got the sound from, if it was found sound or if they arranged for it to be recorded. Either way it doesnt sound well played, but kudos for effort!
i think you should train your ear man its a few chords he's playing also listen to the flaming lips clouds taste metallic or transmissions and you'll see he can really play!
well, my english is probably not so excellent, but I fell exactly the same as neotex555. thanks for posting this beatiful poem and thanks for this words. Flaming Lips and Sigur Ros bring up so many positive emotions that sometimes - it hurts! I enjoy every microsecond of their songs
The Lips have great songs, but really weak vids. This one is too pig Floyd waiting for Godot at first and then goes into a 1-man, 6-girl, Krishna and the Gopis version of the Magical Mystery Tour hitting a Vegas shopping mall/circus. I run better vids in my head.
Yes, but is britney spears who have all the money to do things with escenografy, effects, make up, and she is awful, thats how the world works. But i think that flaming lips should work to do something great (i dont think they are poor, so, but its also true that they have a tremendous imaginary, to the point that to make it video, they must have a Big prodution, and thats a lot of money) i like "yeahx3 song" video, is just a good idea. but others not so well videos have a good trashy pop style
I love how Wayne looks at the camera when he sings "that everyone you know someday will die", just smiling, like saying "everything will be alright", instead of put a sad face.
Cause in every song of Flaming lips there's magic and joy in the air, i have this belief, that we live in an ordinary world, created upon a magically infinite life. And Flaming Lips brings that to us, so we could breathe... :>
I choose to see life as a wheel. Inconsistency is my very essence says the wheel. Rise to the top of my spokes if you like, but don't complain when you come crashing back down to the depths. The best of times like the worst are always passing away.
it pretty sad when you guys gotta take drugs to make something "crazy". what even more sad is that fact that you feel the need to bragg about about it. like "this video would be crazy on acid..or even on weed....OH, IT IS TRUST ME.. (whatever billy big time)etc....."
Yeah that's pretty true, having just looked at my comment even I was annoyed by it. I'm not bragging about the experience, there's nothing to brag about, but you were quite right to pull me up on it. I can't believe I used the word crazy.
The Flaming Lips still deserve massive kudos for creating a great video for a great song though.
you seem like a sound dude. sorry about that. it was maybe a bit much from me. done drugs myself a few years back and from my experience they are both brilliant and shit all at the same time. i stick to the beer and smokes these days but they're no better or worse. it seems we all need our vices! i think what i'm saying is it is possible to enjoy something as special as music without drugs, beer etc. whether or not drugs enhance this enjoyment is debatable. keep on rockin my friend. peace.
this is unbelievable, i've gone through over 4 hundred comments to try and find out who that beautiful girl is on the left of Wayne during the start of the video.only to find comments about whining fools commenting on their love/hate relationship with themselves, this song and video. what's her name?
The Elephant, Hindu Ganesha: widely revered as the Remover of Obstacles and more generally as Lord of Beginnings, patron of arts and sciences, and the diety of intellect and wisdom.
SO much symbolism in this video on top of a universal message all humans can take to heart.
This is an amazingly Beautifull song It can make me feel Happy and Sad at the same time i love the fact u used an elephant in this clip cos there my favarate animals great job i loved it.
You try walking and playing perfectly and looking at a camera... most videoclips have fake playing. Anywho, just look how long this guy's been playing, he could learn to play well enough to do this song in what? 3 months if he tried... so what would the point of faking the ability to play a simple song?
I like the the song, the words, and the melody.A song that helped me through alot sad losses.First heard this song featured on a soundtrack of Charmed!
georeff23 - You could hold them back? It's difficult to analyse why this is such a wonderful song. However, the best answer is in the lyrics. After that, what else is there to say?
well... his fingers aren't moving because this is a music video. No one really plays the music or sings in the music vids. its just a recording and they act like they play and sing. (This sometimes happens in concerts as well)

why can't he play the song during the filming? Just play the album version in the background while filming and make an effort to replicate what it looks like to play the song. It raises suspicion in my mind that he can't even play the song, and it really distracts me. I liked the song a lot more before seeing this. I don't like the shit-eating grin on his face either. I do like the big thumbs-up at the end though. Classy. Almost reminds me of a Volkswagen commercial.

That's right there are bands which are part of some kind of fashion, "the materialistic consumer fashion" and I'm sure a lot of people is aware of that.
But the thing that bothers me is that Flaming Lips is part of another kind of fashion too.
that awful obsession for childish elements like fur animals, teletubbies, etc.
That is called "regression". Back to a time where everything was OK, turns people into children instead of fighting.
they dont have obsessions with childish elements....they just have a sense of fun and humor....which helps with their ability to make great music...u gotta have good feelings inside yourself to be able to give other people good feelings from your music...
I don't know if you remember being a child but myself as a child and most children I know don't put up with any shit they cause it. and materialism and consumerism are very different. materialism means only things that can be experienced by the 5 senses are real. consumerism is what drives the economy "buy things you don't need"and "more is better" . The animal costumes are just part of their weirdness to try and stand out. also most of their fans use a lot of drugs.
I think people totally miss the point when listening to this song...IT HAS NOTHINg TO DO WITH RELIGION its stating the facts of life and how you must deal with it, it does not make one religious refrence
I think the song is a song talking about do realize that one day everyone you know someday will die and that u should live life to the fullest with them
So I'm on the wagon - literally on a wagon smoking a cigarette - while the marlboro man rides his bike in a field made of marshmellow there's a fire a-blazing in the distance The marlboro man drop his matche that was still lit this happened a couple of miles back and now the fire has spread to be ahead of us the wagon i was on lost a wheel now I'm riding on the marlboro mans handle bars
I've just been reading the comments and I am amazed that people dislike the video!

I've just realized how similar this song is to Steve Burns' "Troposphere". Which is weird considering Steve's band consists of at least one Flaming Lips member.
impresionante, real, y hermoso. Este video y esta canción me hacen entender claramente la vida...y la muerte, y sin que resulte insufrible, pedante, redicho...en fin

using elephants in music videos/for entertainment is whack.
elephants in captivity aren't able to roam miles of land or create complex social bonds with their own species they way they would in the wild.
not a natural or happy life at all.
love this song, seeing the elephant in the video just makes me sad. humans have awesome technology but still use other beings as our slaves.

do you realize..
were floating in spaceeee.
do you realize..
the happiness, makes you cry
do you realize..
that everyone, you know, someday,
will die.
deep lyrics,
favorite song,
listen to it in any mood.

I just wish everyone looked at our time here the same way; there would be no wasted time.

I've just realized how similar this song is to Steve Burns' "Troposphere". Which is weird considering Steve's band consists of at least one Flaming Lips member.

impresionante, real, y hermoso. Este video y esta canción me hacen entender claramente la vida...y la muerte, y sin que resulte insufrible, pedante, redicho...en fin

whoa, that is...the ultimate most morbid and depressing shit i have ever read in my life!
kudostoallnamestaken 3 years ago
it's not meant to be morbid, it's looking at the beauty in life and appreciating your time here. at least that's how i interpret it..

Good Perspective, but it really works both ways, even the way you put it can be taken as grim. ^_^
