The cars are going quite fast still compared to static objects and you can't just stop imediatelly if someone steps infront of the car. Hitting the brakes would only endanger the rest of the crews. It was totally the guy's fault, not to mention even more so because he's not wearing a helmet he should be extra cautious.

Dude, you're in a Pit lane of a live Motorsport event: Keep your damn eyes open! It sucks you got hurt, and fortunately no big injuries, so that's a good thing. It may only be 35 mph, but because these things slow from 200 to nothing in less than 150m, no driver ever slows to below that unless they're looking at the back of a pace car or Red flag. No blame to DP on this.
Racing is dangerous, especially when your a dumb shit in the pits. Not paying attention to the world around you will shorten your day, if not end your life.

PRACTICE means acting like it's real. They were trying to tweak everything so when the race came it would be ready and going 25/35 MPH on pit road is standard.

Danica Patrick is the most overrated driver ever. I respect that she is a female and doing things no woman has done in motorsport, but after a while you need to start winning races. Winning 1 out of 51 is horrible for the amount of attention she gets, and her podium record (3 times in her career) is horrendous as well. Winning isn't everything, its the only thing and Danica is simply not winning.
we have no clue - because the video does not show it - what Chuck was doing before we know he was walking up pit lane counter flow, facing traffic .that isn't that unusual - the pits are very busy on practice days
we do know one or one and a half steps more and Chuck would have been missed - he was walking the right way
what we don't know is if Chuck paused - knowing Chuck, he is popular and may have turned to say hello to someone on pit wall and was momentarily distracted - plus he was blocked a bit by the individual at rf of car sitting in next pit box
actually we do know - he did look away "The Green guys said he was walking along, looked back at Marco Andretti
as was Danica - it is a fair guess that the same individual may have restricted her view as she turned in ... and by then it was too late And the math proves you wrong and the above right
even at just 40mph - and pit speed limit is higher than that - you are traveling 58.33 feet per second ...
from the time she could see Chuck to the time she clipped him was 40 or 50 feet ... human reaction and response time for a normal person is up to 1.5 second
a race car driver, especially one who is focused as when entering the pits is probably closer to .5 second - keep in mind you have reaction and then response - cumaulative ... and respnse adds a few tenths as well
in this case Danica was already with foot on brake, as she was turning in ... so the response could have been quicker yet
yet she didn't brake (at least didn't lock them up) before she clipped Chuck ... because, by the time that .6 or .7 second went by she had already clipped him
this was a pit accident - Chuck shouldn't have been in the hot side - but we all do it on practice days - especially at Indy when we're there all month and practice days are usually fairly low key and laid back
a driver is responsible for being aware - again, important because there is a lot of activity and traffic - pit carts etc - but they are also only human ... and an IndyCar in Indy trim is not a very good stopping machine

I think this video shows that the crew member wasn't "standing there," he was walking toward another car. He now admits to being distracted before the impact. As far as her demeanor at the press conference, ever heard of being in shock. Give the girl a break, it was an unfortunate accident. She didn't head to the track yesterday with the intention of running someone down.

It wasn't her fault. How is it the fault of the her when the guy is standing in HER pit box? She's not a bad driver and guys are just as bad as women. In fact, I seem to remember a male F1 driver hitting a guy and killing him, tearing his body into two pieces. So if anything, guys are worse if you're following stereotypes.

PRACTICE means acting like it's real. They were trying to tweak everything so when the race came it would be ready and going 25/35 MPH on pit road is standard.

Danica Patrick is the most overrated driver ever. I respect that she is a female and doing things no woman has done in motorsport, but after a while you need to start winning races. Winning 1 out of 51 is horrible for the amount of attention she gets, and her podium record (3 times in her career) is horrendous as well. Winning isn't everything, its the only thing and Danica is simply not winning.

we have no clue - because the video does not show it - what Chuck was doing before we know he was walking up pit lane counter flow, facing traffic .that isn't that unusual - the pits are very busy on practice days
we do know one or one and a half steps more and Chuck would have been missed - he was walking the right way

what we don't know is if Chuck paused - knowing Chuck, he is popular and may have turned to say hello to someone on pit wall and was momentarily distracted - plus he was blocked a bit by the individual at rf of car sitting in next pit box

as was Danica - it is a fair guess that the same individual may have restricted her view as she turned in ... and by then it was too late And the math proves you wrong and the above right
even at just 40mph - and pit speed limit is higher than that - you are traveling 58.33 feet per second ...
from the time she could see Chuck to the time she clipped him was 40 or 50 feet ... human reaction and response time for a normal person is up to 1.5 second

a race car driver, especially one who is focused as when entering the pits is probably closer to .5 second - keep in mind you have reaction and then response - cumaulative ... and respnse adds a few tenths as well
in this case Danica was already with foot on brake, as she was turning in ... so the response could have been quicker yet
yet she didn't brake (at least didn't lock them up) before she clipped Chuck ... because, by the time that .6 or .7 second went by she had already clipped him

this was a pit accident - Chuck shouldn't have been in the hot side - but we all do it on practice days - especially at Indy when we're there all month and practice days are usually fairly low key and laid back
a driver is responsible for being aware - again, important because there is a lot of activity and traffic - pit carts etc - but they are also only human ... and an IndyCar in Indy trim is not a very good stopping machine

I think this video shows that the crew member wasn't "standing there," he was walking toward another car. He now admits to being distracted before the impact. As far as her demeanor at the press conference, ever heard of being in shock. Give the girl a break, it was an unfortunate accident. She didn't head to the track yesterday with the intention of running someone down.
