  • wtf! jimi was insane

  • This was for Allison Steele

  • Never heard this song before. It's great!

  • Is it all about the drug? What about the individual entity that is Hendrix? Does that not account for something? Sure, the substances gave an abstract insight into an altered state of reality that is the road less traveled by many. Hendrix had style, heart and creativity along with a celestial insight that draws people to his beautiful music. The birds in the video are lovely. If ye hath an ear..listen.

  • @zalman595 the problem with hendrix if he didnt die that night he would of probably died very soon after and apparently he went downhill in skill before he died because of all the drugs

  • @ILLbiteURfaceCNT Nooo drugs like acid probably influenced a lot of his music

  • @ILLbiteURfaceCNT Dude jimi tripped on acid till he could play guitar like a beast... maybe if you knew something about hendrix or drugs youd understand

  • ho shit. xD. that was awesome!

  • is not that truly beautiful song? it reminds me of a couple of beautiful women i spent flying time with.

  • listen to the last section where hendrix is playing a guitar symphony, multi-tracking various guitar lines combining elements of funk, rock and country; it's not a question of his technique; you are listening to one of the most innovative MUSICIANS OF THE 20th century.whata loss we all suffered when he died so young. this guy would have kept on creating for decades.

  • @zalman595 I try to imagine what he could have accomplished with his own studio had he not died. He had so much to give.

  • "pajaro volando en la noche"..jimi hendrix the best*****

  • Jimi Hendrix"s music has so much depth. Not like that METAL CRAP thats out today!

  • @edgore82 Just like what people were sayin about Jimi back in the day. Way to repeat the cycle!

  • @edgore82 the depth is endless when it comes to hendrix

  • my god ..what a player and composer.

The only real genius that rock threw up....he was..and still is the complete package

  • the first time i heard jimmy was when I was 9... my father played on one of those huge discs (LP) and i said: "what the hell is that... its horrible.." now that im older i realised how wrong I was long live the guitar god

P.D. I´m from mexico so any complainment about my writting must be in mexican spanish, remember that is hard to learn another language

  • 3 people got scared by the film "birds" haha what losers how can you not like this!!! =]

  • Cool- didn't know the title origin. Jimi, please don't lie down tonight.

  • This is the song Jimi wrote for, and about Allison Steele, The late night DJ from WNEW FM in New York City, known as The Nightbird. Sadly, she went to join Jimi in 1995.

  • <3

  • Great vid! Two of my favourite things. The music of Jimi Hendrix, and Birds! Both in the same vid. Perfect! Thanks! :D

  • genius

  • ships passing though the night, a variation of this song which appears in the album Valley of Neptune, is imo the better version. You'll be pleasantly surprised by it when you hear it, it's one of my favorites.

  • Who would dislike this?

  • Wow I'm 16 years old and even I know this is better than Justin Bieber garbagesauce.

HeHe Thumbs UP UP UP and AWAY ! :DDDDDDDD

  • @JimmyPage97 it takes a real keen ear to tell that this is better than jbeebs. good work

  • @adrianbpj hehe it took me a while. Don't forget to thumbs up !! :DD

no but really its a joke or what ever. This part of the tube was missing the teenager who gets thumbs up for liking this music at such an impostor of an age.

  • @JimmyPage97 that has nothing to do with your age

  • @Joshw413 I don't disagree. But for some odd reason comments like that are all over and get a whole lot of thumbs up. It was more a joke.

  • @JimmyPage97 fuck off! that's not a glory... I was 8 when i realized that, so what?!

  • @benemles actually when I was 16 Justin Bieber was probably still eating rice crispy treats and watching Ninja Turtles.

  • such an underaded song, one of my favorites

  • I get high just listenin' to jimi...

  • all we got is one precious night...

  • So few views! Great song, and video, too. Who did the art?

  • flawless, flawless, genius video as-well

  • This song has a country barnyard twang that's a weird twist for Hendrix but accompanied by all the usual guitar magic that makes it inimitable. The reason Jimi is a musical genius is because he created a style of music only he can play. Rock was taking a turn towards country influences at that point and typically Hendrix was on top of it like a preemptive master of the form.

  • @Exiles800 I think he just did whatever the heck he wanted to do - he didn't think about it.

  • @lilwing80 Jimi had roots in the country blues back in Nashville when he was learning. Rock was taking a slight country turn with Graham Parsons and The Stones and others in 1970. If you know Jimi he had a habit of hearing what was going on out there, imitating it, and bettering it, like he did with Dylan. Trust me, he thought about it.

  • sounds a lot like some women I've met in nightclubs over the years in my youth...

  • Hendrix had strong hands.

  • I get tired of going to Guitar Center and just see young guys shredding and most of them are damn good at it, but it's not gonna get you anywhere. Too many shreddars out there. Hendrix was not a shredder.

  • @cooltooth112 amen to that

  • No shredding at all, all young guitar players ought to pick up on the fact that shredding does not make a song. Jimi was indeed a "melody man".

  • @cooltooth112 A"melody man" with perfect rhythm.

  • @cooltooth112 Amen brother. He sure created some beautiful lines.

  • AWE SOME!

  • have you ever heard better use of a guitar? this has to be one of my favourite all time songs.

this type of song makes you happy to be alive.

  • brill,he is still reaching into t he future!!!!,.

  • Despite lots of people saying he was struggling for musical direction near the end of his life this song & everything else he was working on for the next album are masterpieces to my ears.

I wish casual listeners would dig deeper than into the hendrix catalog than purple haze lol

  • the owl near the end is neat i felt like it was goin ta take me home ta mama and not my mama.

  • ending is too good. I have not heard anything like it.

  • DOPEST MUSICIAN EVER THE GUITAR MASTER ROCK ON JIMMY!

  • There are no words for how incredible this song is. Thank you, Jimi. Few things make me happier than your music.

  • This song just makes me smile every time I listen to it.

  • What tuning is this? Is this slide? Sure sounds like it.

  • @riverdale999 No slide in this....just his fingers....similar to other songs...but I am 54 and this has always been my favorite hendrix song. The buildup to the ending is fantastic and then he releases it as he drops down on it to finish it off. just like an orgasm.

  • nice work friend

    birds with feathers

    nice match

  • Hendrix.....nuff said!

  • "Look at old burnt out Superman tryin to shoot his dust off the sun " wow that s some deep lyrics

  • Is it a bird, is it a plane... No it's... Oh wait, it's a bird

  • @NANDO218 done;)

  • He wrote this song to a radio DJ that was called "the Night bird"

  • the first time i heard this song i was really drunk and stoned and this song took me to a place where ive never been. it seemed like the song itself got me more messed up. lol.

  • @NANDO218

LOL I had the same experience. So awesome.

  • I have a rare studio take of this that matches exactly to 'ships passing through the night' on the newly released 'valleys of neptune'. Ive been thinking of putting it up. hmmmmm;)

  • @electriCristal do it

  • dopest song ever what a rip hes the bomb best guitarist of all time 100% IRL

  • I love that guitar solo!

    Its so ear-gasmic :)

Love how he manages to put all those notes together to create such a beautifal melody :D

  • BIRDS of Paradise! Birds of Love ! Birds of Peace! Birds that Sing!

Only Jimi plays such Hot Guitar ! Night Bird ! Evening Eagle !

  • what album is this on as I want to by the album any help also grate song

  • @danH85

I got this song from 'Greatest Hits.'

I think it was that album

  • @danH85 cry of Love

  • @danH85 - Voodoo Soup=D Just one of the many fantastic songs on it! A definite must have and showed the direction Jimi was heading before his Sad demise..

  • Jimi is the king of rock and blues. He proved you don't need to have you head in a book and know theory to be a master. Learn the best way - by ear and play what you feel.

  • they should play this on the radio

  • yeah, birds are wonderful especially the ones that come in kilos.

  • I like the chicken scratchin barnyard country roots of this song just when rock was exploring country tinges in the early 70's. However Hendrix implants lead guitar neon sounds that express a level of profundity at the fullest extent of the form normally only reached within the highest genius of classical music.

  • Hendrix was of such genius and masterful control that once the song got going he could paint jazz accents or cosmic atmosphere into the soundscape bringing the whole arrangement to a higher level that was only Hendrix. The song was just the excuse - really...

  • This is the song that really turned me onto Jimi as a real fan. I knew of all his hits but when I heard this this really helped me realize just how great he is.

  • Jimi is a strait up G.

  • To these ears this is the best and the most hilarious mash-up of country music ever

  • e d f# g

  • Bravo Jimi

    Bravo

Outstanding tune. Its tattooed in my head now! I'll never tire of this euphoric melody.

Can anyone tell me who Jimi's favourite guitarist was?

Heres a clue....he had very distinctive facial hair

  • @FUDCHOPS i dont know, who was it?

  • @dff27

    F Zappa,..my favourite 2.

  • @FUDCHOPS

    Bro, it's Billy Gibbons.

  • One of Jimi's best songs I think. Amazing guitar work!

  • ...Yeah, yeah. Well she's a flying down to me.

I love this album. Really love it.

  • so good

  • the best !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @NORMAN0791

    Amen you got that right

  • this sound makes somebody happy, like me!! :)

  • Damn he sure knew how to put them notes together ..didn't He? Still the Best that ever lived!!

  • @ezridder

He is the best that will have ever lived- he is immortal, and plays now in Heaven- i know...

he played for me in Heaven on the 10th anniversary of his death. No lie

  • Hey Tip....He died on My Birthday in 1970!!

  • @ezridder Yes he did. In my opinion Jimi is a great composer!

  • Very nice!

    I drank Tea to this!

  • I'm 24 now and have been a Hendrix fan for about 12 years now. I've got all his albums a really sweet box set, too. And for some reason this song just stands out more than all the others. His guitar playing in this is so amazing to me, especially towards the end.

  • i know u wrote this one year ago but ur so right peace man

  • @cliffordiscool

this was his last album, the cry of love-

and this song had to be sung before he went to Heaven...his last album, and this song in particular stands out far evolved from the rest, as if it was prophecy.....

  • I agree. This is my favorite Hendrix song by far and has been since the first time I heard it.

  • @cliffordiscool "Angel" and "Castles made of sand" my 2 favorite

  • @cliffordiscool Jimi himself was very pleased with this track. It was one of the few unreleased songs finished and polished under his supervision.

  • @cliffordiscool Hi there I'm 48 my brother would tape this album onto a casette to listen to at dunlops on a night shift. This with Rory and tony t.s mcphee and xTc are my guitar influences bar none keep listening bro!

  • if "Little Wing" was on Cry of Love---that might just have been one of the most perfect albums of all time. such an amazing song and album. every single song is a stand out. unbelievable.

  • hey hey, without Little Wing then Axis would no longer be the perfect album!

  • god why did he have to die!?! he is the greatest and will always be the greatest.

    r.i.p james marshall hendrix

  • Yah, it's a shame. He had so much talent.

  • @naft1992joshi

He si so alive in Heaven- I know , because I was invited with a few others t omeet him, talk with him, hear his message and have him perform ea of our fav songs...on the 10th ann of his death........

    it was no dream

it was beond cosmic, cause he is in Heaven forever

he gave us all a critical message- it was why we were brought there. To love. Without it he said we willnever go to heaven, no lie

  • Hey man, how could you prove that, your on drug I guess haha, peace

  • @Oxtrack26

Hey man, I don't need to prove the truth, man.

And I wasn't on drugs either. Stranger things than this for sure happen, it's not my job to convince people of anything. I have no reason to lie either, man. O yeah, peace

  • @tippitytop1 And there I was thinking hippies died out.

  • @dan012345

    lol!!

  • Genius, no other way to describe it! much appreciated post.

  • This is such a great song! It really shows Jimi's new direction with Dolly Dagger before he died :(

  • Rhaa, lovely !

  • Thanks for this. One of the most beautiful tracks Jimi ever recorded. Takes me back to Lawrence, KS, circa 1972, getting high in Rick Murray's jeep...

    peace, Rockin' Roger

  • One of the best lesser known Hendrix tunes. This and Stepping Stone.

  • Wonderful ! Thanx for adding it !

  • Jimi, Everything you touch turns to Gold. You are a True Genius!! We all love you!!!

  • Wow! Excellent song and excellent video! Great job!

  • especially Kathy Etchingham birdies.....
