Oxygen and fires mix perfectly well. Water and fire mix less good.
What has altitude to do with not having to need oxygen to make a fire. I can clearly see your physically uneducated, you probably think the sun is made of fire to.
Theres less oxygen at higher altitude, and flammable solvents gain lower boiling levels under low or exempted air pressures. And because a commercial plane travels at 900kph+ it sucks more air in their turbofans, so makes up for the lower oxygen
@SkajdDub Pilots experience circuit -breakers which pops out quite frequently. It's common practice to reset the switch. It does not mean that they do not treat it seriously. I don't see anything that the pilots did that's out of the ordinary.
@Rangeroversport12 why dc-9's and dc-10's got alot of fatlities dc-9 is just suicide when i travel i always avoid these planes but got to admit i love the boeing 717
@Rangeroversport12 wow lol thats plane is too big for me but at least in today's aviation planes are alot safer and i recently been on a delta dc-9 but nobody in us as far as i know dont use the dc-10 anymore for passenger service
@xSilverxz Actually although the cockpit door is computer operated, it has its own system so pilots can leave in an emergancy so the door doesnt lose function
@lifeguard4life1993 true, but when declaring an emergency the main priority is to get the plane down, not close the door. but i understand where you're coming from
@DavieMurray2010 yea but its just closing the door but if i was the pilot i wouldve closed the door so it wouldnt come in the cockpit, but still get it down at the same time, in fact if i heard, saw, or smelled smoke i wouldve brought the plane down on the runway asap in case of a fire like this case or the case of swiss air 111
Mayday and ACI are both the same programme. The only differences are the narators and names. All footage remains the same. As far as i know the programme is named ACI in the United Kingdom/Australia, Air Emergency in the United States and Mayday in its home country of Canada. In the UK, US and Australia, the programme is aired on National Geographic Channel, wheras in Canada it is aired on Discovery Channel.
All infomation can be backed up by looking at the wikipedia article: Mayday (TV Series)
is it just me, or is the narrators voice kinda creepy

Oxygen masks deploy automatically and in most cases cannot be deployed by the crew. They provide oxygen only for 10-15 minutes.
nigahiga6400 1 year ago
What puzzles me is that the narrator says that the "master warning light is on" when in this eppy, it is the master caution light.
LadyHeathersLair 1 year ago
yah, why didnt they drop the oxigen maskes ?
iJay842 1 year ago
@iJay842 The oxygen will feed the fire, making it much worse.
AnimationTown 1 year ago
@iJay842 Oxygen and fires don't mix very well. It's also possible that their altitude was such that oxygen wasn't needed.

@taariq15 they left the cockpit door open so they could easily look back at how bad the smoke situation without leaving the controls of the plane

probably not enough room on a real flight deck for all of the cameras, lighting equipment, and all the other stuff they use.

is it not better to shoot the cockpit sequence in a real cockpit than in those funny looking flightdecks?
