  • BULL CRAP! MY FRIEND ON GOVT HEALTHCARE CAN'T GET IN TO SEE A DOCTOR UNTIL NOVEMBER. YOUR OBAMACARE IS UNCONSTITUTIONAL. WE THE PEOPLE DO NOT WANT IT. YOU ARE OUT OF ORDER, king, I MEAN Mr. Obama. READ MY LIPS. ..... BUT.. BUT.. BUTTTT WE DON'T WANT IT AND YOU CANT FORCE US TO GET IT. NOR TO BUY IT FOR SOME LAZY SUCKER SITTING ON HIS BUTT WHILE I WORK MY TAIL OFF.

  • It was many decades ago when a person could operate a motor vehicle without insurance. That changed because driving is a privilege .Medical treatment is given to all because it is not .Who pays and who doesn't ?Those who purchase out of pocket for health premiums pay more due the extra treatment cost caused by the uninsured.Your taxes and rent are also higher due to higher premiums for the public sector. One way or the other ,we all get stuck with it. Obama care , private care, or don't care .

  • i got one for the conservatives (myself being a republican and not pro free health care)..........the constitution does not guarentee free public school education..no it doesnt....so why do i a tax payer with no children HAVE to pay for your child's education? personally i dont care for your childs education and Im just throwing my money away. most people would call my remake mean, yet we can say the same thing about a sick person who cant afford help? hmm i smell somthin funny

  • A judge in Florida on Mon became the second judge to declare Obama's healthcare reform law unconstitutional, in the biggest legal challenge yet to fed authority to enact the law. This Obama needs to GO... I have never seen a more lazy president in the White House. But he sure likes the party's I can't wait till hes' gone.

  • Yea, "civility" right Owebummer? Like when you give the FINGER to whoever you happen to be talking about at the time, right? Buch, Hillary, McCain. As usual, civility for THEE, and not for ME. I couldn't even bear to watch the SOTU "speech". "Sputnik" moment? You are now completly out of your friggen' mind.

  • Yeah, this obviously seems like a diabolic plan to turn America into a communist country... *cough*

I do not understand what can be wrong with a decent health care system.

The way it is set up right now is simply contradictory. Docters are taking the hippocratic oath, vowing that they will do no harm, but if not covered by your (or any) insurance... "sorry sir, I can't help you. Would you be so kind to get out of the way and die somewhere else? thank you. Next!"

  • I'm not an American. British, live and work here. Love my American colleagues, but totally baffled by the vilification of a president trying to introduce some equity into the health system. All developed countries I know off - except America - citizens regard universal health care, along with education, law and order, part of their proper rights. God help anyone in America without health insurance who falls sick or has an accident - just been let go? tough.

    WAKE UP AMERICA........DOH

  • The elephant in the room is the cost of health care.Doctors are allowed to drop medical scanning devices and blood thinning testing etc. in their back room and scan every patient that walks in the door that has insurance. There are to many unnecessary operations too. If doctors were given a salary period... The cost of health care would shrink fast.

  • damn, we all need to calm down for a bit and think this one through. It's only gonna get worse if everybody does absolutely nothing but talk, talk talk. Both sides start doing your job and get the thing out in a reasonable timeline

  • The best way to silence Obama when he´s talking on the internet like that is to keep the volume down.........that way we don´t need to listen to a word anymore than when the Bushes were talkin´..........

  • We need people to be sick and die, unfortunately. Evolution... survival of the fittest.

  • @AbjectConformity

That is not what Evolution is, or survival of the fittest.

So, just say a World class Athlete gets a Tumour, we should let the Athlete die because that's what survival of the fittest means to you? nope.

  • Just because Europe did it, you want to force it on the US to, well Europe had World Wars, Plagues, Dictators, Class Warfare, ect, but after these past couple years I'm certain you dont care about anything as long as it "fundamentaly Transforms" MY country. I'm 8th generation if you dont count the part of me that's Cherokee and all I have to say is NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • ALL HAIL "THE GOD KING"

  • I don't agree with a lot of politicians, in fact several of them lie! But I bet every single one of you that Politicians have NEVER had to file for Bankruptcy because of overdue Medical Bills. I am willing to bet that Politicians have never had the burden of medical bills, And I am also willing to bet that politicians have never been denied coverage because they have a pre-existing condition! Wake up America, our health care is completely broken and Republicans have done nothing about it!!!

  • @Slayerfan84

    Amen.

  • @Slayerfan84 and killkong...

    Amen Amen Amen!

  • now tell me if this hc bill is to improve our health and healthcare standards or is to gain more control over the people, sure its good to have ppl coverd with preconditions or have lower prizes in hc insurance ,so let the insurance company compete all over the place not only in their state

  • @Hoschi0913

i LIVE IN BRAZIL AND I KNOW MANY AMERICANS THAT COME HERE TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR HEALTH AND TEETH.

YOUR HC SYSTEM IS WORST THAN AFRICA.

WHAT CONTROL OR PRIVACY ARE YOU TALKIN ABOUT THAN ? IF YOU GO IN THE INTERNET YOU CAN GET ALL YOUR CRIMINAL HISTORY FOR SOME SMALL CHANGE AND CIA SATELLITES CAN RASTER WHAT YOU DO SINCE THE TIME YOU GET OUT OF THE DOOR.

HAVE SOME CLASSES PLEASE AND GET EDUCATED STOP WATCHING ONLY BELOW YOUR NOSE DUDE

  • @emiliolombardo

So you live in Brazil and Americans go there for medical reasons... Marijuana? Hey I have an idea why don't you rewrite your post in Portuguese (in case you're wondering, Portuguese is spoken by 99% of Brazil's population)

  • @emiliolombardo You have no idea what you are talking about. Learn some english and realize our current healthcare is one of if not the best healthcares in the world. "You're HC is 'worst' than africa." Learn how to talk before you try and take a stap in our nation.

  • @beardo970 American health care is only excellent for those that can afford it. Emiliolombardo has a point, the social distribution of healthcare services in some parts of Africa mean that many Africans are able to get treatments which Americans simply have no ability to do so.

  • @emiliolombardo lol anyone who can go from America to Brazil to get their teeth done can afford to get it done in America. Worst than Africa? Nice English champ. P.S. Africa is a continent, not a country, also, there is no health care in Africa. You realize Brazil is classified as a 3rd world country, right? Your not even on the same level. I love how people attack America but beg for aid and money from us when something happens

  • @born2bfunny21 Why is it so hard for (most) Americans to listen to foreigners. No offense, Americans are often nice and generous people but when it comes to debates they are utterly, utterly stubborn. Don't say I cant know, I do now I experience it every moment I get to post a comment. There is nearly always a conspiracy theory involved too and most of the time the government is to blame. There is health care in some countries in Africa and emilio is right, search for the Health Care Ranking.

  • @Fangornmmc Hate to shatter your world, but most attacks are from other countries towards America. They, for some reason, think they know more than we do. On the topic of Health Care Rankings, USA is 37th, Brazil is 125th. Nearly all of the African Countries are in the bottom of that list. I did not call out any conspiracy theories, nor did i mention any at all. Also, stop listening to Eminem, he's washed up.

  • @born2bfunny21

The very fact that you think of people arguing as an 'attack' shows that you consider any ideas outside of your own reality as a threat. Hate to shatter your world but America has had its golden age. It's over, America will not remain a superpower for long. No other countries don't always know more but on some areas youll have to accept they do. I listen to the music I want to listen to, Eminem has NOTHING to do with the point I am trying to make, NOTHING.

  • @emiliolombardo spot on!

  • seem to me what people forget is ....you do NOT have a RIGHT to healthcare, this isnt Russia or China or Cuba or Canada,if you want something like that, move to those country's,anyhow do we need reform?yes?do we need to pay for the benefit in 4-10 years right now?NO.They say it will reduce the deficit in 10-20yrs,really??who can look that far into the future?Do you really believe that money they collect now for HC will be there when the benefits starts?simple reminder Sozial Security!! its broke

  • yes, we do need reform because hospitals are charging $130 for a fucking toothbush, and the insurance companies pay it blindly unless people complain. So yeah,.....there fucking needs to be reform. if you can't understand that, then you're a fucking fool.

  • dont you have your own toothbrush that you can bring??saves you $130 right there on the spot, look do we need reform of the hc system,YES no doubt about it,BUT if it means the goverment tells me what coverage i have to have or if my coverage doesnt suits "their" standard and they fine me or if it makes private hc insurance illegal or if i dont want the gov't hc insurance the IRS will come and fine me $2500 ,if thats what the reform you want ...NO THANK YOU..and btw your the fool then

  • in case you dont believe me ,look it up yourself please ..

Page 167 Lines 18-23: ANY individual who doesn't have acceptable HC

according to Govt will be taxed 2.5% of income.(means the annual income)

Page 298 Lines 9-11: Doctors: If you treat a patient during initial

admission that results in a re-admission -- the Govt will penalize you.

Page 354 Sec 1177: The Govt will RESTRICT enrollment of 'special needs

    people!'

Page 489 Sec 1308: The Govt will cover marriage and family therapy.

  • and i forgot a real good one ...

Page 203 Line 14-15 HC: "The tax imposed under this section shall not

be treated as tax." (Yes, it really says that!) ( a 'fee' instead)

  • @Hoschi0913

    just wait and see.

  • When i can keep my Doctor ,my plan ,all i have so far in health insurance and be happy with it,WHY do i need "HIS" reform then?? WHY is the Student Education Loan Program attached to the HEALTH CARE BILL ?? WHY will the IRS have Power to Control me on a monthly basis if i have any Health insurance and punish me with $2500 when i do not ?? Its is so NOT about Healthcare ,its all about gaining more power ,goverment control and redistrubute of wealth.

  • @Hoschi0913 SO TRUE. THIS SHIT MAKES ME SICK.

  • @Hoschi0913 'Its is so NOT about Healthcare ,its all about gaining more power ,goverment control and redistrubute of wealth." - Actually, most progressive first world nations would say better distribution of wealth is the key to better health (See some of the worlds healthiest nations: Canada, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Japan, etc. for examples). But legit, you're wrong on the reform; look it up yourself :)

  • @madionthebus

i know that it is all a power grab and nothing else, the fun part is that the gov't or those in charge ,come up with some entitlements (spending our money) under the cover of being fair and / or social just, and turn around to raise taxes on us claiming the gov't would stop working if they dont do,nice circle isnt it,well as long as people buy it and dont wanna be selfresponsible,in which they do a good job training it out of the people

  • @Hoschi0913 Nope, try again.

  • Yes obamy is a tool, he is a thug who cares only for his out of whack progressive ideals. History will judge him as a thug. I am a BBSSA(Brittle Bone Shut-in Syndrome with Amnesia). What?

  • Obama is a tool. Who cares about healthcare! What about the economy? Guess what happenes when you lose your job... you also lose your healthcare benefits. I do agree that people need healthcare, but there are over 170 million people that have it, and only 30 that don't. If you want those 30 million to have care, then deport the 20 million illegals in the US of which more than half are estimated to have free healthcare. Take care of our own people and get rid of the free-loaders.

  • @MikeyLikesIt1870

are you out of your mind? You wouldn't even have the mental capacity to juggle health care reform and economic reform that obama has. I agree that yes banks and rating agencies are still running wild, but it does not mean obama has to focus all his attention on it.

  • Lincoln was hated by many people during his presidency. Enough people liked him to re-elect him. After his death..his popularity began to grow...At the present moment, their are no less than 16,000 American published titles on Lincioln...and they continue to grow. Why? Because he had a longer vision. Barack Obama has a longer vision. Barack cares more for the American people than you realize, I am a disabled Vietnam Vet. I thank God for the VA healthcare I receive. Americans NEED Healthcare.

  • This is the usurper who during the campaign said, get in your neighbors face and argue with them. He is not a leader, he is a street agitator.

  • Welcome to Russia! Pretty soon Obama will have a crown on his head!

  • Good job on getting all the Democrats fired in November Obama

  • There is a difference between the stuff we already pay for: schools, police, fires, etc, and healthcare. We already know how to take care of everything to do with schools, the law, and fires, but there are several diseases/sicknesses that we do not know how to take care of/cure, such as cancer. Education, fires, and schools are simple algorithms, and we are always treated the same for each. But for health, there is a complicated algorithm for each illness, thus making it complex.

  • One need say nothing more..........He's a IDIOT

  • Lets see!? Some kid working at Mc Donald's taking care of his sick Grandfather fails to pay an insurance premium and ends up in jail? Duuuuhhh, sounds more like, chains for America to me....

  • Health care debate?

    There is no such thing.

The liberal party has locked out the Republicans, in an effort to jam this "legislation" down the mouth of the taxpayer.

    Transparency indeed.

  • He asks for civility, yet the dems insult the American people anytime we speek out against Health Scare Reform. Only the Dems want this more than the population of America.

  • IN mexico is free for everybody, of course not as good as in France... by the way u should see the documental SICKO from Michael Moore

  • It isn't free. The government gets the money from taxes--meaning from citizens.

  • my friend nothing is free in life, that's why you need to have a job, no kmatter what kind of job. moore believes americans are selfish, because they don't want to pay to other people for medicine, cirgury, etc. In mxico we do it because some day we will need it in our time of need , and we pay ur taxes for this service with joy. don't get me wrong, I like americans . the bottom line is if a 3rd world country like mexico and cuba have better health care, why don't you

  • it`s all in the plan, over load the system , when the us dollar is no longer the world`s reserve currency were all fucked!!!!!!!!

  • In the Bill of Rights of the Soviet Union, they were honest about health care it states that "citizens of the USSR have the right to health protection." This document also stipulated Soviet citizens have the "right to work" not longer than 41 hours in a workweek, the "right to rest and leisure," the "right to education," the "right to enjoy cultural benefits."

  • $1250 is hard to get when your company is cutting your hours of work they are letting work to pay this we need to get money from 401k with no penalty!!!

  • watch?v=iAzQUlet1o8

  • What happened to the $250,000 and up income earners footing the bill? Wow! That didn't last very long if anyone ever believed that lie to begin with!

  • without adding to the deficit?! BULLSHIT!

  • Why are Americans so leary to look outside of their boarders for a solution to this problem?? The standard of living in the US is well below that of other developed countries.

  • R u kidding me. As a member of the Air Force I traveled all around the world. Asia, Africa 3rd world countries No country even comes close!!! We enjoy the best of everything. Why do you think people are begging to come to this country!!!

  • people are begging to come here because of financial opportunity. The infant mortality right is higher in the US than in Cuba. People dont come here for affordable healthcare.

  • The high infant mortality rate has nothing to do with the healthcare but more with the fact that so many young kids are having babies at such a young age. Also the rampant drug, alcohol, and poor diet that adds to the surge in premature births. It's amazing this day and age that girls can't figure out what makes a baby. This has something to do with personal responsibility! Just like healthcare. Why should I have to pay for someone that smokes, is an alcoholic, overweight etc.

  • The high infant mortality rate has to do with proper care not being available to poor single mothers... Poor mothers cant afford to go to doctors to monitor the health of their baby. And on top of that it costs thousands of dollars to deliver a baby in a hospital.... Is that right?

  • peatea i totally agree with you. i'm a 43 year old african american and why should i have to pay for some loser who has no control over their life or destiny because they want to waste their money on drugs, alcohol, and funky ass cigarettes. girls who are just kids them selfs having babies, when their just kids themselfs. eating garbage without working out and laying on your ass all day.regardless of your color i work 6 days a week to take care of my family not these losers. call me hard okay

  • Wrong, We rank 16th but have more TV's Radio's and Computers than any other country. Our GDP up untill recently has been growing better than any other country except China. Our politicians and their spending and high corporate taxes are starting to slam that. This administration just doens't get it. You don't increase GDP through government jobs. You increase it trough the private sector. When private citizens pay federal taxes...of which only about 54% do. That allows government to function.

  • Why were you all so okay with your previous 'administration' spending all of your money and your youth on a useless war? Why are you all so short-sighted? It's like you all forgot about the nightmare that Obama inherited.

  • The blame is purely on the Democrats. They passed the Social Security Act of 1965! This allowed the Federal Government to use Social Security Tax Revenue to pay for the last batch of entitlements in the 1960's Ever hear of LBJ's "Great Society" this allowed entitlement programs to swell the Federal Governments budget. Entitlements went from less than 25% of the Federal Budget in the 1960's to over 66% in 2009!! Medicaid, Medicare, Social Security are all trillions of dollars underfunded!!

  • yes, without adding to the deficit...no shit. Canada is running a slight deficit now...but has NOTHING to do with the management and maintenance of our health care system or social safety net. You will never get anywhere as a country if you do not take care of your people. plain and simple. NO BULLSHIT

  • This is America and we are Americans. We can take care of ouselves! I dont want to have to rely on any Government to take care of me. Thats what makes this Counrty the best in the WORLD! So Bullshit to you dill weed.

  • I ask why should people have to sell their belongings to obtain proper medical treatment. If you break your arm, you should not have to sell your car or personal belongings to pay the bill. Reform is needed. Obama wants to increase the standard of living for many Americans, yet mostly right winged conservatives hold an irrational fear of Obama that I can not understand. Now lower income people have a chance to get help.

  • Wrong. Help is called Medicaid and SCHIP. I just had my girlfriends daughter with no insurance get treatment for her Cervical Cancer! Guess how she got it? Medicaid. Paid for everything. If Obama wanted to increase the Standard of Living he would bring jobs back to the US. No attempt has been made. In fact the Stimulus has only saved about 300K in jobs and has not created any at the cost to the taxpayers of this country about $340,000.00 a job. All we are getting is more of the same only worse!

  • @chucki7200

I think hypocrisy might be your middle name. IF your house was burning down with you and your family trapped in side, who comes to save you. The socialized fire department. What if you had to buy 'firemen's insurance' in order to recieve the services of the department. If you cant afford 'firemen's insurance' they'd just let your house burn down. That is essentially the state of our current healthcare system.... If you can't afford coverage "fuck you. Burn in hell"

  • Since when is it the government's job to take care of everyone? since when is it my job to take care of everyone just because I went to school and have an education that allowed me to get a good job? It's ones own responsibility to take care of ones self. With the power of freedom comes the power of responsibility!

  • @bordenwesley

Idk where you live, but its ALWAYS been the job of our government to take care of EVERYONE. What do you think your taxes pay for? Sociazed pulic schools, socialized pulic roads, socialized Armed Forces, socialized fire and police departments, socialized post offices. Are you really that naive? What do you reccomend, no taxes?

  • The government takes care of over 40% of healthcare in America. Medicare,Medicaid, SCHIP. Guess what! it's Broke! $40,000,000,000,000.00 under funded for the next 10 years. If you don't believe me I will show you how dire the US Federal Government situation is! Go to the National Debt Clock Real Time. Google it and you will see how broke we are. We have to borrow another $290,000,000,000.00 this week to run the Federal Governnment for six weeks.50 billion just for Social Security!!!

  • People need to take care of themselves. We are like #3 in obesity in the world. 20% of the population smokes. We have rampant drug use. I'm sorry I'm not paying for the healthcare needs of these losers!!!

  • Why are you outraged? You have to pay for the public schools of these "losers." Why is health care any different?

  • the United States is the only western country without some form of socialized medecine.... Enough said.

  • I just had a baby and got a bill from the hospital for $24.

    I live in Canada.

    Think about it people!

Oh, and I get 1 year off work, PAID

  • How does your company make profits if they pay workers who don't work?

  • Mike -

My company pays employment insurance to the government, as do all workers. We, the people collectively pay for health insurance and pay while on leave. It is a basic tennent of the 'evil socialism'. We pool our money, kind of like buying bulk. But most importantly, there are no private companies involved, therefore the goal is to break-even. Look at how much of your money goes to the insurance companies!!! Why are allowing this? Because you are scared of a label?

  • How can a small company with 5 or 10 employees do this if say, they have 2 sales rep and one is gone for a year? Any way you look at this scenario, sales would drop by 50% or you would have to hire a 3rd rep. My business could not afford this. In fact, 80% of businesses in the US are small companies.

I have always preferred to keep and invest my own money which is why I am in the private sector. I would love to opt out of social security so I could invest or spend my money as I see fit.

  • socialized medicine... Why shouldnt a mother be there to care for her infant baby is the better question?

  • There are two costs. The real fixed cost of the premiums and the opportunity cost of lost wages and profits. In a small business, cash flow is critical to keeping the doors open and the bills (that have to be paid monthly) paid. My allowable exposure is at best 10% before my banker starts to get nervous. Borrowing against future profits to cover current losses can be risky.

  • Accusing doctors of cutting off feet needlessly to make money is not civil. That's demagoguery and class warfare.

  • Simply put, OBAMA CANT KEEP THESE PROMISES! The only way for libs to stop the rising costs is to punish people who smoke, drink, eat the "wrong" food, lives in the "wrong" place, etc.

There is no way that this healthcare bill will stay under $1.2Trillion, nor is it possible for the middle america to not have their taxes raised to pay for it all! There isnt enough rich people in the world to pay for it all on their own!

  • where's the health care mother fucker? he lied, hes not only using most of our tax money on bullshit, but he didnt change anything.

  • @gusfoot10

Obama didn't lie, this healhcare reform thing hasn't even past yet. The one thing that you can safely say was a lie is all those cops that keeps robbing us blind on a daily basis across america. They've got billions of our money and the streets aren't any safer, crime didn't go down, roads didn't get fix, still not enough cops on the streets where we need them. Nothings changed, they're like leeches that don't give back. Why don't U complain about that?

  • Simply put, If I like my doctor, or my lifestyle, this asshole has NO god damn right to tell me anything! Oh no,..... I smoke. So the Gov't throws some weird shit onto cigarettes that is more harmful to our lungs than old regular cigarettes. Thanks for helping me not burn my house down big gov't. But I still say, and always will, FUCK THE GOV'T AND FUCK MOST OF THE THE PRESIDENT'S decisions! SHould I be scared to disagree with this asshole? No! I HAVE THE RIGHT TO!!!!!!

  • Who was the senator who shout "you lie during obama speak" He is the only brave enough to stand up and tell the truth.

  • @sreynauch

That fool was a rude idiot so you don't need to waste brain space trying to remember his name.

  • WARGARBL<- that is all that can be coherently inferred from your post

  • I'll have to ask George Soros just how much sh*t you can pack into a man-sized puppet.

  • Want to hear and see some truth, check out my channel.

You all know CHOP is the nations top rated childrens hospital right?

Well take a look at how they attempted to cover for Christiana Care.

I wonder how often things like this happen and parents don't have video to back-up the allegations.

Please watch my videos and see the corruption we are dealing with.

  • First off the bailouts were initially a Bush administration idea that was already in play by the time Obama took office. He took Bush's flawed idea of bailouts without restriction and changed it to put some bite into it if these companies decide to go back to business as usual.Right now you have a bunch of companies in trouble for giving bonuses and perks in the midst of this crisis.Something I doubt would have happened under the previous administration.

  • I'd suspect that the terms of the bills under consideration might better be able to be discussed civilly if they weren't being worked out behind closed doors on the Hill.....so much for Obama's transparency in government.

Anyone who supports government involvement in health care would do well to consider the efficiency of other government programs--the post office, Hurricane Katrina relief, even the existing Medicare...but the bill that emerges from these closed-door sessions will fix it all!

  • this obamacare is making me sick, how can we trust them when they don't give all the facts and whats funny is that they are going to charge you 3 years before your eligible for care, but an illegal won't be mandated to pay and will recieve free care

these people running around thinking the government is going to give free care.if the dems. would work on the economy than people could buy insurance, lies lies, lies, vote every democrat out forever

  • It kills me how you guys never seem to learn anything.Ok right now we're still reeling from the laws and policies the last administration put in place.massive unemployment.Multiple wars that are costing us trillions of dollars.People being kicked out from their homes while coorporate fat cats get bailed out.Taking off restrictions on banks and loaning companies. while making it harder for us to declare bankruptcy. But you had no problem with that.Let's kick out the people trying to fix it.

  • you have got to be kidding me, obama, administation still has not put anything in place to protect the little guy, they even tried to protect the fat cats and thier huge bonuses secretly with the bailouts. now the 98,611,000 voting age citizens who did not vote are mad as hell.obama caused this whole economic meltdown by going around with Acorn demanding the banks give people mortages with no income. it will be a long time before any intelligent person ever votes for a democrat again.

  • sorry but I had to continue. The meltdown was not caused by Obama...come on man don't even play that. The trouble was well underway before Obama got in office.6 months is not long enough for a economic downturn like this.Face it the republicans screwed up.. they had 8 years where they squandered our money, mired us into 2 wars and a bunch of scandal.Turning our defense over to shady contractors for hire.Unregulating business so they can bet way more money than they actually have.Bush's legacy.

  • Only Congress can appropriate money and it has been run by Dems for a while now.

  • "Trying to fix it???" you mean Obama's Administration making it ten times worse... Don't lie...

  • Hey everyone, Obama found a loophole in supply and demand theory!!!

He 's going to make it free, and the demand for this free product will go down...David Blane for President!!

  • On a practical note, if you buy HI you must have had the same experience of massive premium increases without being able to find better alternatives. If your employer buys HI for you ask him. Without reform, the next 5 years those premiums will double and triple in 8. For a family of 3 this could go to $ 2400 a month or almost 30K a year! Nobody likes taxes, but aren't we better off paying a bit more tax if it comes to that, than being ripped off to pay dole into HI executive bonuses !

  • Due to new medical technology, prices for health care will continue to increase at an incredible rate. In order for insurance companies to make a profit, they need to increase their premiums. I am not against lowering the cost of health care due to reform, but I don't like the idea of a socialism taking the place of capitalism and I do not want to pay extra taxes to cover the cost of health care for people who don't work or are complaining how they don't make enough money.

  • You're right! That's why people living in countries with higher taxes, and nationalized health care are living far more comfortably financially than American's. In America, I am seeing people cutting back, losing homes, going bankrupt etc all because of the current cost of health care. I am now living in a country with socialized care, and higher taxes and I would never go back.

  • Just wait until you get sick or have a serious injury, it will take forever to find a doctor that will see you. In the USA, doctors will see you that day or within a day or two and in those countries with socialized health care it can take multiple weeks. Plus, the quality of health care is not as good.

  • cuba has a socialist healthcare system, and its the best in the world.

  • Just out of curiosity, where did you get that information? It is false. Currently, the European and Asian countries are the leaders in health care. However, that is flawed because all it has to do with is average life- expectancy per country. The USA has far more transportation accidents than any other country in the world which equates a lower average life expectancy. If you base it off of actual quality of health care, the US has the best, hands down.

  • "WHOs assessment system was based on five indicators: overall level of population health; health inequalities within the population; overall level of health system responsiveness (a combination of patient satisfaction and how well the system acts); distribution of responsiveness within the population (how well people of varying economic status find that they are served by the health system); and the distribution of the health systems financial burden within the population (who pays the costs)"

  • @bordenwesley cuba actually have a ratio of doctor to patient 150:1. That is the best in the world, if they had the vast amount of money america does, it would be much greater.

  • I just checked the rankings and Cuba ranks 39th while the USA ranks 37th. So much for "the best in the world!" Next time, do some research before you make statements like that (you'll look less like an idiot).

  • What rankings? How were the numbers collected and calculated and by whom?

  • @bordenwesley 37th is still shit for the USA, the richest country in the world. Look at Britain, they have a state run health care system and its vastly better

  • @filthydiablo In what ways?

  • I don't have any problems with seeing a doctor the same day I get sick or injured. In fact, I have 5 doctors which includes specialists. Now I don't have to worry about co-payments, deductibles, insurance companies telling me what I am covered, denials etc. How is the quality of care not good when US is rated 37 by the WHO & it's declining. The most obese & unhealthy people are also found in the USA. This shows a lack of preventative care, as they (HMO) wants you to get sick to make a profit..

  • Nobody wants anybody to get sick. The USA lifestyle is an obese one, I know that. It has a lot to do with the fast- paced lifestyle, mass quantities of unhealthy food, media.

If the WHO just ranked quality of health care by reviewing the hospitals and medical professionals, the US would be more near the top. It's our unhealthy (obese, alocoholics, etc.) population that brings down our rankings! That has nothing to do with our health care system.

  • Could potentially be the best in the world, but millions of American can't afford to see or declined to see it because of pre-existing conditions. That's where the problem starts.

A socialized health care structure can work for American's too, but their lifestyle definitely needs to change first. If American's can ban cigarettes from all public facilities, bring back heavy preventative care, traditional medicine, raising the cost of junk foods and reduce the cost of healthy foods.

  • The quality of health care has nothing to do with how many people go see the doctor or have surgery.

Changing a lifestyle is a very difficult thing to do. I do not think that a socialized health care would be good for this country. It takes away freedom from certain businesses and raises taxes that are already very high. All in all, bad combination.

  • It doesn't matter if the quality of care is good for those who can afford it. The system is failing those who can't afford or denied it, and everything counts. Personally, I don't care if the US has the best cancer treatment center in the world, when the lady across the street is denied treatment because she can't afford it, and her insurance company refuses to cover the bill due to a pre existing condition. If the system is flawed, everything is flawed. One bad apple spoils the bunch.

  • Just say you lose your job and insurance coverage. Two weeks later you find that you have lung cancer and need $150, 000 worth of treatment. You check you bank account, and you only see $7500 total saved. You're not worried though because you have the best cancer facility in the world. :P

  • Yes, I realize that we do have a problem, but how is it MY fault that others cannot afford health care? Why should only a select few be responsible for the cost of an entire nation's health care plan? It just doesn't make any sense.

Socialism is a great idea on paper, but when put into a society, it is proven to fail in the long run. Why should I be told what insurance to buy, when I am going to buy it, and how much I am going to buy it for? We are being stripped of our freedom!

  • American's already use many socialized services like policing, army, postal service, fire protection, schools, libraries, road repair, garbage pickup etc. Are those services failing for you?

Many countries use socialized medicine, & so far I only see the American system failing for millions. Health care should be a human right for all and not treated like a commodity. Why are insurance companies even in the mix? Why should insurance companies tell people what they are covered for or denied 4?

  • Why should a select few be responsible for putting out the fire on your house, picking up your garbage or helping you in trouble and fixing the pot hole on the street in front of your house? :P

  • Ummm...because it's their job and they are getting paid to do those simple tasks. I am not getting paid to do a simple task, but rather am being taxed by the government even more!

Yes, health care is a right, but not when it comes at the expense of my own. Insurance companies are put in place to help with the cost of health care. It's a service that they provide to the community. No one is forcing you to buy it.

  • All those services can easily turn around and say you will need personal insurance for coverage, which will cost you a lot more than any tax.

1/3 of every health care dollar is wasted on unnecessary processing work which could be used to treat people. You do know it's a lot cheaper in tax than paying insurance. companies. That's why 50% of American's who are bankrupt blame the cost of health care, people cut back on food and heat for health care, people lose homes to health care.

  • In countries with socialized health care, 0% don't go bankrupt because of the cost of health care, 0% dont have to cut back on food and heat to health care. I am thinking about everyone, you are thinking about yourself only. As long as you and your family are ok, then I don't care about anyone else attitude.

  • Answer this one question for me. Just say your mother needs a heart transplant, and the insurance company says it does not cover it under her plan. The cost is over $800, 000 and your mom does not have that kind of money and needs your help to pay for it. Do you have $800, 000 plus another $300, 000 for rehab lying around to help her?

  • Processing work is extremely necessary in the health care. How else do doctors know your medical history? Obama wants those who have health insurance to pay for that health insurance plus being taxed extra amounts. Fair? Also, since when am I suddenly responsible for everyone? Everyone needs to be accountable for their own actions and not expect the government to give out handouts for being lazy to work an extra couple of hours every week.

  • I am taking about "unnecessary waste" 40% of their revenue is filing out paperwork that has nothing to with a patients care. Waste with resubmits of claims that have been denied to save insurance companies money. Waste with pre certification from insurers to approve higher priced procedures which does get denied. There are millions with insurance who can't get care because of greed in the business. How is this being lazy, and asking for handouts? You still didn't answer my previous question.

  • If it was unnecessary, then they wouldn't have it. Yet, there are still millions who are receiving care despite business greed. The many people who complain about the health care system need to start learning how to live within their means. I'd much rather be healthy than live in a huge house or drive a nice car. My experience with insurance is that if you have it, it will help you. It won't relieve all of the costs but it will help you. What you put into it, you will receive if your sick.

  • It doesn't matter if it's unnecessary to insurance companies as long as it makes money. There are people with expensive comprehensive plans, but are still denied certain care due to pre existing conditions they were not aware of.

  • Uh oh, I guess it's time to stop smoking, stop eating fast food for every meal, and maybe try to exercise a couple times per week. What's in common with all of those? They are the main cause of unhealthiness among Americans and create the majority of those "preexisting conditions." Also, they are all personal choices. Who do they have to blame? Themselves, not me or the insurance companies.

  • Also, did you know that under Obama's Health Care Plan, you cannot sue a doctor or hospital for malpractice? So, let's say that your mother dies because the doctors (who took a massive pay cut because of Obama's Health Care Plan) were working much less hours and, therefore, did not look over her as much. Right now, you could sue the pants of them or the hospital for malpractice. Under Obama's new plan, you get to bury your mother and go on living life. Unfair? Yes! Welcome to my world.

  • Obama's health plan does not prevent a person from filing a suit. The United States have to spend a lot more time and money than anyone by ordering irrelevant and costly tests merely for the sake of covering themselves. The plan is just cutting out that irrelevant waste. Of course people can still sue for malpractice.

  • Ex: There are patients out there telling doctors what procedures to do, when the doctor knows from years of experience and training that a patient does not need it, but does it anyways to prevent a lawsuit.

  • From my experience with both a socialized system and US private system, I have a lot more freedom within a socialized system. No caps, no list of what I am covered for, no copay, high deductibles, no insurance company telling my doctor what he/she can or cannot do because it's not covered. I have actually waited far less for care in a socialized system, but that's just my experience.

  • If the government owns the insurance companies, then you would be filing a lawsuit against them. How many people win when they sue the government?

  • In Canada for example, most medical clinics are private, but the bill is covered by the province of the facility and not by private insurance. Why would you sue the government? Would you sue the insurance company if your doctor was negligent? No, you sue the doctor or hospital, and the same applies in Canada. Its a lot harder to sue in Canada because the system does not tolerate frivolous law suits. Ex: People suing the hospital because they tripped over their own shoe lace in the building.

  • Answer to your question- no, I do not have 1.1 mil lying around, but why would the insurance company suddenly not cover her?

  • For insurance companies to save money. There are people out there who actually go through this all the time in America.

  • I disagree, a company can only increase prices to increase profits if it has a unique market position of its own. If you were their competitor you would take advantage with sharper pricing and erode their market share right ? Your argument would work if inflation cost push is the cause of poor profits industry wide to raise prices for survival, but at different levels because their costs are not similar.

You can check the profits growth of listed H insurers at their sites or stock exchanges

  • Why does this man sound like a monkey chewing on a banana peel?

  • Briantotse, your ignorant. The average wait to see a doctor in Canada is 4 months you moron!!

  • communism ftw

  • Obama cannot be trusted to tell the truth about his health care "reform" plans. For example, he falsely told the nation (9/8/09)that he would not use our tax money to fund abortion-on-demand in his healthcare proposal. That directly contradicted what he, as a presidential candidate, promised to do for the Planned Parenthood abortion rights lobby. (YouTube: "Obama promises abortion in public plan".)

  • Before I agree with health care lets get rid of the illegal aliens

  • I agree that we have some of the best surgeons and medical research in the world,

But they also are the most expensive. At the same time we still have protected HI and Pharma Industries. Over the counter medicines in the US are competitive with

most countries. But prescription drugs are protected unless you want to buy generic. Pfizer's Lipitor is $ 74 here, overseas prices range $ 8 to $ 34 depending where you travel, Why ? competition with other international giants in those markets.

  • Within the insurance industry the HI industry has special status, I think most will agree that our home and auto premiums are almost the same between 2001 to now, these folks are like us and do have to compete for their business because they know that if they become price unreasonable we have many choices and can switch ! Really I don't mind deregulation and buying Govt run HI or buying HI from big foreign firms like Allianz or Lloyds. But I'll stay with my current home and auto insurer !

  • The reason why prices have gone up by so much is because of the intense competition and the rising cost of health care itself. New health care technology costs a lot of money and is always changing! Auto insurance has stayed the same because car prices have virtually stayed the same.

Competition is what drives the economy. If you take that away, our economy will go down the tubes.

  • prices don't go up because of competition..what are you talking about??

Prices have gone up because all companies have had clandestine meetings with each others ceo's and made an agreement to raise the price of ins otherwise shareholders will pull out.

Themmeeting took polace on 17th June of 2005

This is an abomination of human rights. To raise thr price on everyone

This is not free market. People can't choose not to get sick

  • Prices can go up due to competition. If one company raises prices and yields a higher profit than the others, they are going to follow suit so that they also yield higher profits.

Holding clandestine meetings would mean that the health insurance companies have formed a cartel. These are very illegal in the US and I'm sure the government would have done something about it, if it were true.

What does a free market have to do with people getting sick?

  • I live in a state that has several HI providers, my premiums have risen stepwise by a factor of almost 3X from 2001 to now, I have tried to switch insurers every time we get this huge hike, but all raise premiums in lockstep. Is this not price fixing ? Except the oil industry which is price driven by opec, few others have been able to get away with similar increases. Most other services and necessities are barely 15-20% above 2001 levels.

  • You are correct that all should be responsible for their own bills and not expect others to pay for it. Government's role is to deregulate the present protected cartel status of the HI industry and make them compete amongst themselves just like we all do for our living, are we not better off without Ma Bell ? switch auto and home insurances ? Shall we corner the H1N1 flu vaccine market ? or do we want elected Government to foster competition?

  • Last time I checked, cartels were illegal in the US. So, there is no way that the Health Insurance Industry has risen to cartel status. Action would have already been taken. The reason why prices have risen so high in this particular market is because of the extreme competition. Now, people are still buying health insurance and the companies are still profiting. Don't worry, prices will come down when the insurance companies no longer turn a larger profit.

  • 46,000 people in the US die because they dont have health insurance. 700,000 bankrupt due to the cost of medical care every year. Half of these people are republicans. Half of the republicans that are fighting to keep Americans from having a government backed option for health insurance dont have health insurance.

  • I'm sorry, but I don't believe that other people's rights should come at the expense of mine. You need to get off your high horse and understand that, just because you exist, nobody owes you anything. You owe it to yourself to pay for your own health care.

  • I know your a neocon and by nature that makes you selfish and ignorant, but this plan will save you money in the long run. If you have health insurance youre paying more to cover those that dont. Im a war veteran so lucky for me I dont have to worry about it. As a Democrat I want the government to do whats best for my country. I dont like the selfish hatred inbred into the neocons, and their policies have always failed.

  • Wow, what a huge assumption! I'm sorry but socialism always fails because it takes away the citizens' freedom. I always thought that this country was built upon values of freedom. Isn't that why we are called "The Land of the Free?" You want to debate about policies. For starters, I would like to say that the Cash- for- Clunkers program was a real success (could you sense the sarcasm?). Throwing money at the problem isn't the solution. You guys need to stop thinking that everyone owes you.

  • Americans are not anti government republicans are. Most of them have been brainwashed by the rightwing propaganda machine and they're too confused to know good from bad. If the Democrats try to accomplish anything they fight against it no matter what, even if it hurts them too. Half of the republicans fighting against a heath insurance option don't have health insurance. Dont waste your time trying to understand these people. They dont make any sense.

  • The reason that there is such resistance to all things socialist in America is that we have had a grudge with the largest socialist/communist country in the world for the better part of the last century.

We need to get over that, and understand that socialism does not equate to dictatorship, and that government involvement does not equate government ownership.

We need to start looking up the facts for ourselves instead of relying on the news companies who tell you what they want you to know.
