@172096883 There is no way you can get that back if you have deleted the partition. I think the only thing you can do is contact Acer and purchase the recovery disc[s].

1. Is is too late to create a factory default disc after you have your laptop for like a year? because i never really bothered -.-

2. After you restored your computer, will the acer drivers and software still be available or do you have to back it up separately?

@andide123 No, as long as the partition that contains the files necessary for restoration aren't touched, you can create a recovery disc. As for restoration; the drivers are already installed and continue to be part of the restoration files, so everything would work.

@TheTestor2010 You have used a Windows XP general installation disc. Being that it is general installation, it doesn't contain third party software or anything from the manufacturer; it ONLY installs Windows. You will need to download the drivers from Acer, or find them on the net, and then install them.

Hi buddy, I am trying to finish the restore but have a broken screen so was using an external monitor...The external monitor wont work until vista has the last bit of info needed.

I could do with help on what sequence of keys to press on the keyboard to finish the restore, I have got to the point where your video finished so just need the sequence to enter the info from there.

I have a proble, I have Acer aspire Predator G7700. I found the 10 Gb recovery files on the SSD drive partition. Now the problem is i updated from Vista to Seven. Seven does not support eRecovery s/w. The ALT+F10 is not working. I was able to copy the recovery partition on my USB, now i need to run it. Any ideas???

I know because GRUB was installed on Ubuntu and confused me with 2 XP partitions listed.

Once i saw Acer logo i quickly pressed Alt + F10

and i've got:

HDD Recovery Validation Failed

So does anyone get the same problem?

thanks for this instruction. It was really helpful for me. The Windows XP screen is part of the recovery (even if you have Vista) strange but true.

I will advice everyone to not mess with the 'backup-partition' this can be REALLY helpfull when everything is broken.

Another advice, when you've bought your pc, make a backup! this can also with'DriveImage XML Backup' good tool when you don't want the acer-partition.

Did they come on a disk? If so reinstall from there. If downloaded, check if you have the installer and the product key, make sure you save those and reinstall after restoring your system.

Well, the reason I'm trying to restore without a factory CD is because my computer is loaded with errors.

I can't pull up a lot of programs, Before my PC took a dump on me I made a recovery disk with the empowering thing, but I tried to use it, I got errors, and it would just freeze up, I tried to use it when you boot up the pc it says insert proper disk, aka it doesn't think it is a recovery disk so it's not restoring.

I saw your video, and it's great you pointed that out, though I really can't pin-point the problem. In Dev Manager, see that your drive is enabled, and that you have. Also in MSCONFIG make sure that IMAPI CD ROM is enabled during startup. Otherwise open up mobility center, and reinstall your disc drive burner.

Not sure there is much I can do about that, however the best I can advise you, is that when you turn on the system and open up Acer eRecovery or for eData Security Management, there should be a hint for the password. Not sure if that could help you much; sorry!

I'm pretty sure you can do the pre-boot restore. When starting you just press Alt+F10 when the system POSTs (When you see the huge "Acer"). Hold down Alt and constantly tap F10, and it should say Starting Acer eRecovery management, and it should boot Windows XP which is really WinPE, and it'll do it's thing from there on!

Everything will work as though you just pulled it out the box and turned it on! All files and third party applications will be removed, and you will be left with Acer software, your driver's and bloat, but we can remove that!
