  • Una grande artista!

  • Truly amazing lady!!! Actors of any age can appreciate and learn from her memories of the past.

After all that late age illness with 3 strokes and breast cancer, she continued to make public appearances and - make movies. She had no vanity. She still has no peers. A fighter to the end.

I met her only once. she was as delightful as she was electrifying. A magical presence in a career that spanned 65 years. R.I.P.

  • She has still got that unmistakable voice. Who says that when we get old we have to hibernate - only cruel stupid people.

  • FABALOUS...THIS WOMAN,SIMPLY FABALOUS even in her prime age

  • Why do i love her so much ?

  • Why do i love her so much ?

  • Like the continuous stings of a bee, every remark Bette Davis makes in this clip

sounds effective and impressive. She was witty and attractive. Frail as she looks,

her speech is coherent and she sounds alert. But I think she should have put a smaller microphone on the lapel of her jacket. Some people ridicule the way she holds the microphone.

  • What a wonderful slim and full in Her mind Bette!!!

    What memories!!!!

    Thankz for the video!!

  • She shoulda stood in bed. This is embarassing. Obviously she couldn't give up the spotlight, no matter what.

  • @edwardjames50 Why is it embarrasaing? She's paying tibute to a fellow movie maker (producer). At this point in time she has suffered a stroke, has cancer and I think a double mastectomy and still is lucid enough to pay tribute to her fellow movie makers(please correct me if I'm wrong). All my respect to her.

  • Hal Wallis was one of the great producers during the golden era of movies: David Selznick, Sam Goldwyn, Sam Spiegel...and of course Hal Wallis. Hal Wallis when at WB made Casablanca, Zola, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Robin Hood, Now Voyager, etc..among many moore...He was a giant at WB, and later at Paramount such as Come Back Little Sheba, Rose Tatoo, Beckett, True Grit and then at Universal Rooster Cogburn. Wallis had stars such as Bogart, Muni, Cagney, Flynn, Hepburn, and of course Miss Davis

  • I never loved another actor/ress the way i love Bette Davis !! I always post her photos and videos on my Facebook Wall. My FB Profile is Leo Statten.

    Astor Leo The Owl

  • this woman is on the verge of becoming GOD!!!

  • i love that bette is in absolute ecstacy right now.

  • RIP Bette. We love you. :')

  • god bless her heart.

  • I LOVE YOU MISS DAVIS,a.

  • SHE DID IT THE HARD WAY B Davis

  • God rest her soul, Bette was truly a living legend in her later years! I still can't believe that it's been twenty years since her passing. There will never be another 2.0 of Bette!

  • WARNER IS CORRUPT!

  • No matter how one tries I cannot picture or HEAR Colbert as Margo Channing.

The fact that she had to bow out due to back problems and suggested Bette is kismet, destiny, you name it.

That Bette wasn't considered IN THE FIRST PLACE is another story.

  • Bette Davis the eternal Queen of Hollywood!!! The greatest actress of all time!!!

  • Thanks for the memories Bette.

  • Age is not for sissys - she had guts to go on even tho. we remembrer her as young and beautiful. Age is so unkind to Hollywood!...............

  • I'm sure she had some mini lifts, but you can see she took great care of herself. She looks beautiful in all her interviews. With all she's been through at 79 she looks great! And she is an impeccable dresser, still wearing hats in 1987, truly an independent woman who was secure in her identity. Very classy lady.

  • ya one day there here and the next there gone cherrish ur family and hold them close.......... rip ms bette davis

  • It really just about brings tears to my eyes to see her so frail yet she sounds so strong. It reminds me of my grandma and I think I should call her tomorrow to let her know how much I love her! RIP BETTE!

  • The Queen of Hollywood Forever!!!!

  • I think she looks great. Every age has its beauty. Personalty plus still, mind as sharp as a tack.

  • Lilian Gish sucks ass.

  • Dude you are so fucking stupid!

  • But she sooooooooo good at it.

  • I don't get why people say here they are sorry of what age is doing to people ? It's natural. Nothing to feel sorry. She was the greatest and her advanced age made her woman you really want to respect. Elder should be treated with great respect. Sadly most of us forgot about that.

  • @Miketayfan - Oh, you're so right! Well said. Well said!

  • It was a stroke that made her look like this. She was a great actress and very sexy as a young woman.

  • well from my understanding, she suffered a stroke an was ill during this time, so i feel as if u should have sum respect ..somebody should come an steal your soul 4 your dumbass remark...bette davis u are loved an never will there be another..R.I.P

  • What a cruel comment.. Bette HATED growing old. Every great personality/character grows old. Let's try to remember her as the vibrant larger than life woman that she was.Old age robs everyone of their dignity. EVEN YOU one day, remember that,One wonders if anyone will remember YOUR Contribution to ANYTHING

  • Bette the Great!!!

  • She looks so old here. But i still love her and her films. Thanks Bette for all the wonderful memories you gave me. I love ya..

  • So sad what age does to a person. Poor Bette.

  • Your going to get older too, huh?LOL

  • I didn't believe it was her when I first looked at this, but as soon as she smiled it is absolutely undeniable.

    Love you Bette

    XXXX

  • rest in peace, great Bette...

    we will always remember you....

  • Movie Stars come and go, but there will never be another Bette Davis!

  • Comment removed

  • I will always LOVE Bette Davis. She was a true classic! Even in her older years she still had those gorgeous eyes that captivated you the minute you looked in them. The best!!

  • WOW! HEr voice really didn't change much! She's so cute though. And she was marvelous in her film with Lilian Gish "Whales of August". It was in her old age, but it was just the part for her. Bette was truly a goddess.

  • Fantastica, maravillosa...una gran dama del cine

  • Oh my. She doesn't look at all like the person she was, but she sounds just the same.

  • she is so so bright

  • shes alive for us...the fans who whatch there movies over and over again!!!love miss davis!!

  • Bette had a breast cancer, nothing to do with smoke, thats why she looks so thin. She had a couple of strokes too. and at the time Bette had submited a double mastectomia. what make Bette so fragile at thist time was the stroke and the cancer, because she had dificult to speak, to walk, and was so very very thin. I love her, and I always will.

(my comments doesn't appear :S i think that a problem on YT.

  • Excuse me, but actually smoke is a risk factor for both breast cancer and strokes!

I'm a great fan of hers anyway!

  • Love her. Kids, don't smoke.

  • What grace and class....now that's real Hollywood

  • There´s a great great woman!

    Bette Davis, I love you!

  • What a beautiful smile she had!

  • Well... I think she looks GREAT here!

What a hot ticket to the end!!!

  • Yes, her exterior here is very frail (due to a series of strokes) BUT Betty Davis was NEVER frail on the inside. She was one of the strongest lasies in Hollywood of all-time! Maybe second to Kate Hepburn.. If only in todays age were there soo many actors of this true caliber.. I think Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett and Sissy Spacek are the closest to Betty Davis status living today..

  • she looked so frail! compared to her when she was younger it's sad but she still came across strong! love her

  • What a doll. I miss the golden days of Hollywood. There will only be one Bette Davis.

  • i love this woman

    no one like her

    a class act!

  • She looked so frail the last few years of her life. Too bad she smoked so heavily, it obviosuly ravaged her appearance. Still love her though!

  • She was frail after suffering from several strokes and from cancer.

  • what year was this ?

  • Before 1989, when she died. But after 1983 when she got cancer.

  • 1987

  • 1987

  • Very well said pabloriley, I agree.

  • omg shes EXACTLY like my great aunt there like copies of eachother i love em both!

  • the very definition of magnificence. Bette Davis has always been, and will always be one of my favorite people, and certainly, my favorite Actress.

  • The personal comments about her are vile, she had survived a major stroke some years before following breast cancer surgery, and when this was recorded, unbeknown to her, her cancer had returned. Breast cancer today is a very high profile disease and Miss Davis is an example of a very brave woman who battled this disease at a very old age and also carried on working, for that alone she deserves more respect.

  • It's a big pleasure to listen to Bette Davis. I was happy to know that in her 80s she still had a lot of sense of humor.

  • GLORIOUS........it makes me wonder what Hollywood is doing now. A longevity of talent and a tough broad.

  • she was a great lady, god bless her.

  • so agree, bette and greer garson rock and are sorley missed.

  • Heartbreaking...

  • Bette is sooo courageous!

  • I admire her stamina. After 70 years of heavy drinking, smoking, cancer and a stroke it was a wonder that she could do any interview at all.

  • She got a prescription to the magazine? LOL! I love her.

  • cuantos años han pasado y ya estaba bien vieja, no se que año fallecio, pero fue buena actiz.

  • love you bette

  • Such an 'open' person. I admire her character. She saw no need in trying to be all nice & full of smiles all the time like most celebrities. I wonder what she thought of Katherine Hepburn.

  • I don't know...I know she hated Crawford and Merle Oberon. I think she was jealous of Merle's beauty. Warner's briefly had Merle under contract as a "threat" to Bette....

  • SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN JEALOUS OF HER, LIKE SHE WAS OF ANY ONE THAT SHOWED TALENT AND COULD BE COMPARED TO HER, BETTE WAS ALSO NOTORIOUS FOR MAKING THINGS UP ABOUT HER OWN CAREER, ALMOST EVERYBODY THAT EVER WORKED WITH HER WILL SAY, i DON'T KNOW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH HER ON THAT FILM SHE WAS VERY UNHAPPY...

  • is Bette Davis alive?

  • She died in 1989 aged 81.

One of the best actress of all time...

  • probably "THE" best. I can't think of any actress coming close, in that day or this.

  • Davis is not drunk. This is a result of a stroke she had.

  • DRUNK?

  • Though it be a public fact that Davis was an bitter alcoholic throughout her life, I don't believe her speech during this tribute was "under the influence." You have to remember that the woman's in her late 80's in this clip. She worked her movie-star ass off right up until her death (she died during the filming period of 'Evil Stepmother'). I actually think she's quite well-spoken here.

  • i agree. but she was a notorious drinker. i'm sure she had a couple stiff ones b4 she went to speak. and wicked stepmother was her last movie, which i love.

  • WICKED Stepmother! That's it. I'd forgotten the title. It was campy at best, but hardly her greatest work. Regardless my opinion, Bette rox my sox and then some. Thanks to Picklepuss for posting this, and preserving the immortal legacy of Hollywood's greatest silver-screen goddess. "Hold onto your seatbelts."

  • the one true one...Bette

  • OH Ms.Davis .." ALL THAT FIRE AND MUSIC".... BRAVO!!! Forever

  • asi es mi tia Ines......

  • she looked so so so much different in later years...so skinny nd bony...but i still oved her!! haha

  • Although not commenting on Joan Crawford who was a huge rival of Bette's, I'm sure they both admired each others work.

  • Yes, children, gravity and aging has affected Ms Davis, as it will affect us ALL. The stroke comments are particularly unsavory. She's still sharp as a tack, and it ain't rusted, bitches. She is an Icon, and irreplacable. How wonderful she is coming full circle here, and saying goodbye with dignity. How many actresses today would even remember this woman? Sad.

  • Absolutely right Gloria - I agree with you one hundred and ten percent! Bette Davis was simply magnificent; her talent was awesome and wonderful to behold. Even in this clip, as old and frail as she was, how strong her voice is and if you look closely - she still has "Bette Davis Eyes" like the song says! This clip is a real treasure - they surely don't make 'em like her any more.

  • Although she's old but her spirit is strong as ever...! Oh my lady Bette Davis...I missed you Bette. A great Actress of all time. So much respect for her till the very end. Longlive my lady Miss Bette Davis.

  • hal was a prick, who put the greatest talent elvis movie career in the toilet for money,it was elvis who gave hal a millionare lifestyle not bette.

  • Notice that Bette said a "prescription" to a magazine instead of "subscription?" Although Bette is very, very sharp-witted in this clip, that was a tell-tale sign of having a stroke.

  • thanks for offering this up. i love bette and there is not an actress today taht can hold a candle to her in anyway when she was at her best. jezebel and all the others were a testement to her fine skills

  • I like your video clip and have rated it as awesome. Please check out my new clip of 1930's cigarette cards of Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, Gary Cooper, Fred Astaire, Errol Flyn, Vivien Leigh, George Formby and Gracie Fields.

  • Bette owns all! Great lady!

  • She was great. I think it was a toss up between her and Katherine Hepburn but nobody had the guts that Bette had. She took on roles that most women during that time would have given up.

  • yeh, i know. she could dominate any female celebrity today, they wouldn't have a chance, she's still a fiesty bird with a good sense of humour

  • She'd had a stroke and was about 81 yrs old. She still had her personality, though, didn't she?!

  • but she looks so different

  • she's absoloutly amazing. she was the best actress ever, so witty and intelligent and talented

  • the interesting thing here is bette always used to say her and joan had nothing in common but in fact they had a number of things in common, they both had fathers who walked out on them as children, they both fought hard for their fame and fortune, and they both had daughters who wrote disgusting books about them depicting them to be monsters.

  • differences: Bette: Intellectual, Joan: not. Bette's mom Ruth adored and pushed her. Joan's mom despised her. Bette knew who she was, Joan didn't and was always striving and recreating herself. Joan was a world class "humper", Bette not. Bette fought the studio bosses, Joan obeyed. Joan adored the glamour and publicity, Bette didn't. Joan was at the "tiffany" studio, Bette was at "Gangster's Row". Bette's catalogue of films have aged well, Joan's not so much. Both were huge stars.

  • @DiamondRedd1 ~ I love the way you misrepresent, and post your misrepresentations as "facts". Typical of the ga-ga Davis fan base. And if you think La Davis wasn't promiscuous, think again!

  • I read that Joan said don't refer to her as an old broad. I will always prefer Joan over Bette. There's just something about Joan...

  • hi trelle86. my best friend of 16 yrs is a major joan fan while i am with bette and i have tried and tried to see what it is he sees in joan. i am stumped and i think it is that i see joan as a star and bette as the actress.

  • bloody fantastic!!!

  • sit her down with joan crawford...that'd be an interview

  • she'd tear joan apart, she always did...there's a great book out there called bette and joan, the divine fued...not sure if its still in print but check it out if you like these two "old broads"(bette referred to herself and joan with that remark)

  • you are the living end!!!!

  • she saved warner brothers studio from bankcrupcy----because of her positive attitude, she brought back money to the studio.i do understand why shes difficult, deep inside there's a precious hidden in her heart.

  • thanks for the clip---one of the greatest actress of the cinema---she change what cinema of today.

    remrom2

  • What a great clip. Miss Davis, after a stroke and suffering from cancer, is truly amazing. She is sharp and class personified. Her fond comments to Albert Johnson blew me away. What an inspiration!

  • omg the way she talks is just hilarious! i love her accent! lol she was fabtastic xx

  • welcome to the freakshow.. even the audience clap on cue.

  • Just to remind you. You're a year closer to the grave yourself since you posted this.

  • no less than you hon. which of us is closer to bette do u think?

  • You. With any luck...

  • oh. such vitriol from one so moral. now there's a surprise.

  • What a wonderful clip! I'm currently reading "The Girl who walked home alone". This clip goes very nicely with my reading! Thanks for posting:)
