  • FORTY THOUSAND BUCKS FOR *THAT*???

    NO WAY!!!!

  • will obama buy one?

  • It's just sun rise in California right now. In the Atlantic Coast it should be already bright. Go Chevrolet Volt!

  • The sad part is that this car will be bought by Americans who actually believe they are making good use of their money.

  • The car is a joke. The performace is terrible and is no credit to the electric car industry. The car isn't even worth the $31k and a $10k burden on the taxpayer!

  • gasoline engine generator ??

according to the latest MSNBC report the engine has planetary gears to drive the wheels on high speed

this is just another hybrid 13 years late in the making nothing revolutionary about it

toyota can make the prius go 60miles on battery alone by adding bigger batteries an AC plug and adding $10K to the price tag.

  • 40 miles? I can make it farther than that in a fart powered car!

  • Power seats are NOT even available on a 40k+ car? Bad decision GM. WE decide. You dont.

  • @brett2100 LOL Prove it to me and I still won't believe it!

  • @shitbox99 it is in one of GM's 'official' original-design-team videos. They said the extra weight caused it to be dropped. They even debated dropping the power windows at one point, but decided against that. Honest. I saw it here. Hope it is wrong too!!

  • the volt is not a extended range electric car as gm says, rather it is extremely over priced gas powered hybrid at best! $7500 tax credit sounds like more government bailout money....Stop with the greed GM. Design a true electric car in line with price and quality as your competitors and you might be able to stand on own two feet..Good Luck!!

  • Only a MORON is going to buy this car which gets worse mileage to pet their egos. The stupidity of this car is that it took millions if not billion of research funds which could have better used to research on finding more sources of petro or on improving the efficiency of fuel. Only a certifiable loon and simpleton, like Obama, believes that this is a viable option.

A question to highlight the stupidity...It only goes 40 miles on battery, and takes over 12 hours to charge?

  • @dkkght46

    Shut up!

  • @KatiushaVN4

The Chevy Volt is a great example of what happens when you put a bureaucrat in charge of decisions based on uninformed political correctness...Not a terrible car, but its a gas car with a backup electric motor with a range of 40 miles...That costs a fortune without MORE government interference including rebates and tax credits. DOA...Pathetic. Should be used as a lesson on why union controls and leftist politicians are evil and counterproductive.

  • about time...

  • still

    the answer is hydrogen.

  • @Flamesofame

Hydrogen is already obsolete. The first fuel cell vehicle, the FCX clarity, will cost $50,000, and go 300 miles to a full tank. The fuel cell lasts around 6 years before it needs replacing, and it will be available in 2015.

The Tesla Model S costs the same, goes exactly as far, but the battery lasts ten years instead of 6 and will be available next year.

  • it is $33500 unfortunately it is the battery that makes it expensive and puts such strict limits on range.... hopefully the tech can get better to reduce cost, efficiency and the weight.

  • General Motors Chevrolet Volt is actually a quite good car. it is futuristic and runs on clean electricity. You just plug it in for $2.00 fully charged. Then the engine kicks in and gets you excellent mileage.

  • @heartlessvietboy $2.00? Shit, I can just about get 40 miles out of $2 of gasoline!

  • $ 41,000 for a Volt? Come back to me when you cut that price in half.

    GM YOU FAIL!

  • @PickleJarTar Tech is always expensive at first so give them time and the prices will go down. Lets just hope that the Volt doesn't have its own version of the Red Ring of Death.

  • @kdixon7783c I still won't be interested in it until the price is cut in half.
