  • Great video, thanks for sharing! Is this light too bright to have as a light on a DJ booth for the crowd to look at? Does it have dimming?

  • I just got 2 of these and I am having a hard time joining the 2 lights. Do you know how to make one the master and one the slave?

  • is it better than the coplosrtip

  • i can't really say which is better. The MegaPixel is brighter, but some say the colorstrip has better built in patterns. If you're using DMX and programming scenes yourself, I'd say go with this one.

  • ima b using just sound to liught

  • Is this one easier to mount the the Chauvet? I've been trying to compare the two and I see on the videos for the Chauvet LED bar that it is a pain in the rear to mount. Something about the wing nut and being too close that it won't turn and you have to go out and buy or modify it to mount it. Now that is some BS if I buy something brand new and have to modify it just to do a basic mount.

  • I've had no problems at all. In the beginning of the video, you can see the megapixel sitting on the top of desk. Its sitting on two brackets. These L shaped brackets have a hole in the middle that can easily take an O-Ring, which is what i use to mount it to the truss or T-Bar. Its really easy. Without an O-ring it simply sits on this bracket as a foot, and can be placed on the ground as a wall wash.

  • does it work without a dmx controller?

  • Yes, I use it without DMX all the time. I don't have a DMX controller, so I use it's default patterns.

  • Hey Cyro,

    5 stars!

Thanks for posting, after watching this I'm going to purchase one.

    -Keep it Rockin'

    -Caz

  • Thanks Caz. if you want an idea of what they look like in action at a gig, look at my latest gig log. 2 of them used in a gym, and they lit the gym up enough that I didn't need to use any overhead lights (the staff doesn't like the room too dark)

  • Hey DJCyro, can you run the Mega Pixel in sound active mode, and also adjust the brightness? I tried out a friends Chauvet Colorstrip which is very similiar, but there is no brightness (dimmer) control function. I know the Mega Pixel has a dimmer control, but can you use that while in sound active mode, or only in manual or DMX mode? If I can turn down the brightness while it is in sound active mode, that would be a perfect fix. Let me know :)

  • The only way I see to adjust the brightness is to go to the color setting, and lower the amount of certain colors. But that really isn't something you could pratically do when DJing. I don't see an option do to it from Sound Only mode. It would require a DMX controller.

  • So if you go into the color setting, adjust the brightness of each color down to a certain level, that adjustment doesn't stay when you go back to sound active?

  • I don't think so. I believe the ability to adjust the colors on it would be used if the light was in a permanent setting, or used as some sort of ambient wash, like an uplight, or so.

  • Nice video!

So this is in standalone mode and sound active correct?

  • Correct, sound active Random mode. Pretty good patterns for random.

  • you use DMX?

  • Not yet. Just pugged into a copilot. planning on getting a dmx controller soon.

  • they are nice lights I have a couple too

  • NO DOUBT THEY ARE FABULOUS

    great vid well done

  • looks good!!

  • thanks.

  • Now that has some cool built in patterns!

  • Yea, they are pretty nice. I like the one that beats to the music like an analyzer.

  • very nice purchase!!!

  • Yes, its pretty nice. I'll get to use it live next week. I'm interested in seeing how much wash I get in this gym. I'm thinking maybe 30-40 feet, which is about 35% of the floor.

  • Looking forward to that video...

  • Cool! Awsome light!

    Corey

  • Thanks!

  • 1. Does this Mega Pixel LED have fans in it at all ?

    2. If you link 2 of these units together does a chase (in Show Mode 0) go from 1 light to the other (so it looks like it is one huge bar) or is everything on bar 1 the same always as bar 2 ?

  • 1: I believe it does have a small fan, but its not loud at all.

2: I'm not sure if it chases from one to the other on default programs. I do know that can be done with DMX programming, but I think the lights just mirror or match each other. I have video of 2 lights in action at my last gig (see my last gig log vid). I'll look to see if I see it chasing from 1 light to the other.

  • Ok, at about 6:28 of that gig log, you can get a good idea how it syncs with the other light.

  • Which gig log exactly ? Post an exact link.

So when you plug this in you hear a fan ?
