all i know is the mom threw her baby into the water , she comes home to some guy -there was another girl ,

then the guy was pushing the random girl in a cart (how'd they fit her into that shell anyway?) ...and she drowns.

the baby thrown into the water turned into the shell girl. it was a flashback. like a wild child, but able to live in water. like a mermaid, but lives in a shell instead of having a fish tail.

guy finds shell girl, they grew feelings for each other. guy's ex finds out about shell girl, tells on them. scientists takes girl and guy to quarantine and experiment on them. guy feels sorry for what the "land people" were doing to the girl, so he returns her to where she was from--the river.
