It's not KERS people. KERS uses batteries to store energy, porsche uses a flywheel spinning at 36,000 rpm.

This car has a gas engine, the hybrid-electric motors only act as a "boost" or "push to pass" button. Its not an electric car hence the word "hybrid." And its still a six speed manual. So you still need to shift. And double clutching is still faster in the right situations. And even though the battery isn't like a road going hybrid, the rest of the hybrid drivetrain is, so its still def a hybrid. Do your research children!

it's not cool at all. it's a very wasteful combustion engine with a kers that has no future in efficient driving. so no.

I wouldn't even call it a hybrid. it's not like you can get a kers powered car.

People don't let the name fool you. This is not a hybrid like the Prius. This GT3 actually have F1 mechanical parts in it. Porsche is trying to make the first production street legal car that has F1 in it, which was never done before.

@wizzo93 The hybrid is not there to save the planet - it's there to add a few seconds of boost. It was used in Formula 1 for a while.. The electric motor at the front gets its boost from the energy recovery system and when needed, it can add up to like 120 hp or so when you click "boost" button.

It's still the beast that it should be, and not a Prius.

@unknownunknowns I don't really care about that bit.. we have enough cars "Saving" the planet with the stupid Lithium Ion or whatever it is. I still maintain that if you want to save the planet, find a way to store hydrogen fuel. Lithium ion is gonna cost the planet more than anything else, if you're the sort that believes Al Gore's bullshit.
