Someone on death row guys get an automatic appeal. From there they can appeal to the Supreme Court and this can take years. Now think of the people involved in this process and the amount of years it takes. These lawyers, judges the whole shebang. This offender is costing the system millions, and millions. If every appeal is overturned all the way to the supreme court then he could sits on death row for years which = $80, 000/year!

When you say 'convicted' meaning they have been sentenced they automatically have the right to appeal if the sanction is the death penalty! Someone on death row guys get an automatic appeal. From there they can appeal to the Supreme Court and this can take years. Now think of the people involved in this process and the amount of years it takes. These lawyers, judges the whole shebang. This offender is costing the system millions, and millions. If every appeal is overturned all the way to the supreme court then he could sits on death row for years which = $80, 000/year!

It's not that I think the death penalty is wrong... It's that our society has yet to justly apply it... too many are being let off of death row when DNA evidence proves their innocence. What about the innocent ones whose cases arent even brought up because there isnt any DNA evidence ? Killing an innocent person is murder-nomatter who does it. LIFE in prison is just as effective in keeping the scum inside, but also provides an out for those who eventually prove their innocence.

In this day & age, I think it would be very unlikely to kill someone who is innocent. Not 2 say it would b impossible, but I think in death penalty cases, the evidence has 2 b overwhelming. If there is a shadow of doubt, I think the person would b spared. I think in most of the cases where people claim an innocent was put to death, this is just a scare tactic in an attempt to abolish the death penalty. I would b interested in hearing of your two cases that have been proven "beyond a doubt."

Its already been proven "beyond a reasonable doubt" that at least 10 innocents have been executed nationwide, two in Texas since 1989. 97% of death row inmates had public defenders, noy real lawyers. The other 3% were high profile cases like scott peterson, etc.. In a basic,non-high profile murder case, if you have money, you dont get the death penalty. Evidence ? On a deathrow inmates death certificate it states the cause of death . The box homicide is ckecked so your statement "killers should be killed end of story ". Does that apply to the warden and guards in the death chamber at the walls unit in Huntsville Tx . After all they were directly involved in the death of the man witch now has homicide on is death certificate????? what did God do when they killed jesus ? Im glad he doesnt think like you!
